When my 102-year-old mother came to San Diego in December 2025 for her winter stay, we realized…read morethat she had declined significantly from the previous year. While still able to get around with her walker, she needed assistance for many of her daily functions. As we are both in our late 70's, we determined that some in-home weekly assistance would be needed. Relying on Yelp reviews we contacted San Diego Home Caregivers and met with the owner Sterling Miles. It was clear from the start that finding the right caregiver and meeting all of Mom's needs was his top priority. He even gave us information on other options in case his services might not meet our needs. He is genuine in his concern and commitment to providing top level care. We could not have been more impressed when we met Mom's new caregiver Jasmine. Her cheerful, warm personality was a perfect fit, and Mom was immediately comfortable with her. She went out of her way to not only care for Mom but to also help us in any way she could. Unfortunately, by the end of January Mom was at the end stage of her life. Because she was so comfortable with Jasmine, we had her continue to come even though Mom also had Hospice care by that time. As 20 family members came to say their goodbyes over the final two weeks, they were also very impressed with how caring Jasmine was and how much Mom appreciated having her there. We highly recommend Sterling and San Diego Home Caregivers.

My Dad was becoming challenging to care for, and my Mom was getting tired. It was a difficult decision to bring care in since it's like bringing strangers into our home. However, BrightStar was on the recommendations page at San Diego Alzheimer's association, so we decided to give them a try. And we are happy we did, we have been blessed from the first minute. Olivia is our primary caregiver, and even though we have only had her come in for about six weeks, she is already part of the family. She is very attentive to my Dad, making sure his needs are met but staying firm when she needs too. He responds very well to her and enjoys her company. She does everything we've asked her to do and does it so well. Olivia is also there for my Mom providing emotional support and just plain friendship, which is so sweet it brings tears to my eyes. We have a second caregiver Rebecca when Olivia can't make it. She also fits right in as family, and we are delighted with her and her attentiveness to my Dad. Rebecca is also very supportive and friendly with my Mom. My mom feels very comfortable leaving the house while Olivia or Rebecca stays with my Dad, which is a big step when she thought she wouldn't want to leave him with a stranger. We also received a free visit from the nurse Alicia, and she is fabulous. She came at night when it was more convenient for us and stayed as long as we had questions...and we had a lot of them, and she had a lot of answers and ideas. She was so caring and focused on keeping my Dad healthy and happy while giving respite care to my Mom. Alicia came out a second time to teach my Mom how to help assist my Dad out of chairs without hurting herself in the process. Again she was such a tremendous help! Thank you, BrightStar, for bringing some much-needed relief!

As my father in law is now approaching 102 (next month), the level of care is now essential and "round the clock". With us living on the East Coast and for my wife's father to be able to remain in his own home, having a fully reliable and conscientious service was not only very important but now has become a true requirement. Because of the commitment and dedication of the owner and a number of also extraordinary staff members, we believe that the care provided has most often been truly excellent. Over now more than 2 years, Assisting Hands has earned our Trust and Confidence. When a caregiver was unavailable, Assisting Hands has always been agile and "there" to assure continuous "on site" coverage, without exception. We thank the owner and a large number of caregivers for their fine efforts, often exceeding high expectations, and delivering a level of service that has permitted my father in law to be able to stay in his home, as he very much wanted and currently desires. Should there be any questions that could be addressed by us, kindly contact the owner of Assisting Hands for our Western, New York contact information. It is true for us that a partnership with an organization such as Assisting Hands works best when there is an active family support person(s) in full contact with the service provider. The owner of Assisting Hands has gone well beyond more than both normal and high expectations to personally do everything possible to provide quality, timely, and proactive service. We have been very impressed and appreciative for the excellent overall personal services received. We very much recognize what Assisting Hands has provided for our family. We are grateful to my wife's sister for finding Assisting Hands and initiating its services, and to Nina for her caring approach in running her business. JGU

The owner, Maya, takes great pride in the facility & the care of the residents. The employees are very kind & take excellent care of the people in the facility. When skilled nursing was ready to release her, my sister and I knew she would not be able to return home immediately and would need more care until she got stronger and more self sufficient. The staff at the skilled nursing facility gave us 5 Board & Care facilities in Escondido for us to visit so she could have the additional care she needed as she recovered. We spent the next few days visiting each facility and interviewing the owners of each of the 5 businesses. Avocado Creek was our first stop. Maya, the owner, spent time with us and explained how Board & Care worked; she answered all of our questions, proudly showed us around, talked about the current availability, and the approximate costs. The house was clean and the residents we saw that day appeared well cared for. My sister and I were both immediately impressed with Maya. She made us very comfortable. She appeared to be very caring and was not only understanding of our mom's needs but ours as well. Throughout that week, we went to each of the other 4 places that were recommenced to us. Each of the facilities had its own characteristics and all seemed to be able to care for our mom. But no one sounded as caring as Maya. So, after a brief discussion between the two of us, we put our mom at Avocado Creek. It was the best decision we could have made. Our mom was there for the first month and did great. The care and attention she received was wonderful. She was getting stronger and was pretty much healed from her fall. But our mom started to fail mentally. Maya and the staff were very attentive to all her needs as she became more and more confused and simple daily living tasks became harder for her. In early December she was diagnosed with Alzheimers. Maya, Marisa, Dana and Brenda cared for her like mom was part of their own family. My sister and I visited multiple times a week and could tell that our mom was being well cared for in every manner. We were so pleased that we chose Avocado Creek to care for her. Unfortunately, what we thought was going to be a one or two month recovery turned into the place our mom lived until the end of her life. My sister and I NEVER worried that she wasn't getting the attention she needed. As our mom got worse, Maya and her staff did everything imaginable to make her life as good as possible. There is nothing I can say to express our gratitude for all that Maya, Marisa, Dana and Brenda did for our mom right to the end. My sister and I were there on the afternoon in September that our mom passed away. That night was hard for us. Maya, Marisa and Dana, being such caring people, even gave us the emotional support we needed on that last night. I still stay in touch with Maya. I will occasionally stop by Avocado Creek just to say "Hi". There are always hugs and lots of catching up on current events in our lives. Losing my mom was one of the saddest days in my life. Having Maya and her staff care for her was one of the best decisions my sister and I ever made.
