Darlene Weber from Golden Care was a lifesaver for me when my mom was hospitalized abruptly then wanted to come home to recover. Mom wasn't mobile at the time, and Darlene and the Golden Care team went overboard to find enough helpers to allow her to be at home. Darlene was also an incredible resource for information about at-home care - from the supplies we needed to which items of "durable medical equipment" we should request from the hospital based on insurance coverage. She even went out of her way to be there when PT and OT providers came so that her caregivers could help mom do the exercises in between visits. She was also incredibly responsive and accommodating even when our plans shifted multiple times. I can't recommend Darlene and the GC team strongly enough. read more

Golden Care is an excellent company with wonderful staff all the way around. We had a difficult experience with a different company (14 caregivers in 7 days ! Ugh ...). After calling Golden Care within two days they had established a FABULOUS team of 4 caregivers for my sister 24/7. The consistency of caregivers is huge and exactly what we needed, wanted and expected. We needed a few " fill in" caregivers and they were also great. My normal business contact was Megan , I called her my "personal social worker". Megan held my hand more than once and was so kind to me during this time. We struggled to get somebody in there as quickly as we would have liked since everywhere is understaffed owing to COVID, so one of the case managers took it upon herself to take my dad to an appointment that I was out of the country for. A few months ago my wife's Parkinson's Disease had reached a point where we needed to activate her Long Term Care insurance and find an in-home caregiver. I was "flying blind"! We got a referral to Golden Care and I was impressed by the people I interviewed and we began an engagement. Early on we had a few "fits and starts" with our insurance administrator and I always had thoughtful, caring, and professional interaction with the GC staff, as they assisted me. We have a consistent, stable, and mature caregiver who comes weekly for six hours. She is always prompt and courteous. My wife likes her very much, as do I. Goldencare's care professional are extremely unprofessional. The care giver Golden Care put in my home tried to add hours she didn't work and lied about driving my loved one to the store. She tried to steal my loved one's money. The same caregiver said she gave my loved one her medication for the day. I found out later, she never did. When I brought these issues to Golden Care, they were rude and dismissive. They acted as though I was in the wrong and defended their caregiver. I have 24 hour surveillance all over my house. I provided video proof of my accusations and still Golden Care's office manger was disrespectful and condescending. Golden Care does not provide an invoice before debiting client bank accounts. So, the client does not see the hours being charged before payment. They refused to pay me back my money that the caregiver did not work. Do not hire Golden Care! They put your loved one's health at risk and allow their employees to steal money from their clients. read more

When I interviewed agencies for a caregiver for my Mom, she is 94, back in April I found out that Linda Urbina had helped our family years earlier with placing my sister in assisted living so I knew she truly cared about her clients, more like family really. So we had a wonderful caregiver, Rihanna, who took great care of my Mom. My Mom looked forward to having her come and spend time with her along with doing exercises with her and doing all her cleaning and food prep. One day on Rihanna's day off my Mom fell. The next day Rihanna noticed my Mom was not doing well so she contacted the office and they contacted me that they called the ambulance to take her to the hospital. And even though Rihanna had another appointment she stayed with my Mom until the paramedics came. Linda then helped us to transition Mom from care in the home to an amazing home with caregivers, a board and care. My Mom is very happy and well cared for. Golden Care really does care. I have had 5 caregivers from Golden Care and 2 looked and acted professional, one was extremely disabled, very concerned if she could care for my mom, others were nice but smelled of cigarettes, uniforms very sloppy, big , not clean. We quickly needed care for my father-in-law for 12-hour night shifts in assisted living until we could get him transitioned to a higher level of care. This is the first time our family has required an in home care giver. It is very difficult to make such a major change in your life style. My husband has been hospitalized for observation four times in the past two months due to episodes with his heart. He is 90 and I am 80. I selected GoldenCare based on the comforting review of people who had faced the same situation we were in. GoldenCare was the first agency I called and they will be the last. We are totally satisfied with their concierge type service. On our first day of service Megan the Manager did a home visit to make certain of our needs and explain their services. Valerie was assigned to us and she is fabulous. She had a pre-set appointment the first day so we had a substitute but Valerie has been on time, helpful and attentive consistently. We have had three others fill in a day at a time and all have been great. The reason we have had the three others is that we had to break the routine during the times my husband was hospitalized. After 4 years, I finally convinced my dad to hire a caregiver to give him a break from caring for my mom (stroke survivor and hemiplegic) 24/7. We called Golden Care based on the wonderful reviews. Everything sounded great, and we started care. They scheduled to have someone come out, but that person became unavailable the day before and wasn't able to start until a week later. Over the next few weeks, she canceled once, was late and left early other times. Then, one day she just didn't show up. We understand that sometimes (especially during these difficult times) unforeseen things happen, so we gave them another shot. A new caregiver came yesterday, and while my dad was showing her around, she took a personal phone call. Then, when my dad returned from an errand, he found her one the phone again yelling at someone in front of my mom (who also has dementia and is very easily confused). Two hours later, he received a call from my mom asking him to take her to the bathroom because the caregiver left an hour early. She can walk on her own but she is at major risk of falling, so she needs to have someone with her. He had her call for the caregiver, who didn't respond, so he rushed home. He found the caregiver on the phone again with her mask off. Obviously she was out of earshot because she didn't respond to my mom when she needed her. I very much hope that our experience was just unlucky and that the majority of the time this company is as great as the other reviews boast. But I felt like I should share our experience since I used these reviews to make a decision for our family. read more

My Dad had a stroke 12/29/2017. Prior to his stroke, he was in the challenging position of being Mom's full time care-giver. At age 87 this was really taking it's toll. A friend from mom & dad's retirement community recommended Goldencare, and we immediately felt this was the right choice. Now after 5 months, we couldn't be happier. The caregiver has truly been a dream come true- reliable, caring and even taking initiative. She has been able to not only help Dad with all his needs, but take over the role he had of providing all the necessary support for Mom (who deals with memory and balance challenges). We have used GoldenCare three times in the past 2 years to provide short term additional care for my mom following 2 hospitalizations and a fall and have been very satisfied on all 3 occasions. The schedulers listen to your input and try to provide staff according to your specifications. There was an occasional hiccup, however, in not being able to cover every shift requested, however they gave adequate notice and I was able to rearrange my schedule to cover. They were very flexible about start and end dates and changing hourly needs. Their services are rather pricey, but management worked with us on rates, and resolved any billing discrepancies quickly and accurately. The aides they sent us ranged from good to excellent, were friendly and treated my mom respectfully and I felt confident that they would carry out their care instructions appropriately and that I could leave my mom in their care while I took a break. read more
