Truffle fries with lemon garlic aioli.
    Holly K.

Absolutely amazing truffle fries that I tried at the Smorgasburg location. The fries are cooked to order (super fresh), are the perfect shape and size (thick cut), crispy and flakey on the outside and soft mashed on the inside. Twice fried and perfectly seasoned with sea salt, black truffle oil, parmasean cheese, and parsley; not drenched in oil, very light and airy with no oil taste. The fries come with a lemon garlic aioli that is mouth-watering, as well as homemade ketchup. Would return here for more fries in a heart beat!!

You're here for some of the best fries you will have in life. The line will be well worth it as service is quick. There are too many sauces to try and unfortunately if youre not with a friend you wont get to try too many. The lemon aoili mayo, whatever it was, absolutely amazing. The other toppings are good but the fat meeting the potato and the coarse salt spells a perfect recipe for french fries. You know fries are good when they can take the center of the whole meal. Unbelievably good.

Home Frite is probably one of the better options in Dekalb Market. But it's still a while away from being it's very best. The first sandwich combo I got was the truffle cheesesteak with regular fries. Maybe I got spoiled by Philly's cheesesteak? The truffle cheesesteak was not bad but everything was too salty in my opinion, the fries included. The first time I went, they actually burnt my fries to a crisp. It was dry inside and out and inedible. I guess it was a bad day? The second time I got their hot wings with curly fries. Much better with the fries the second time, but again the wings were a little too overdone. It's not a bad spot, just a few changes here and there and it will be perfect. Their sauces were not bad, I tried the garlic aioli--very good, chipotle ranch--also really good, curry ketchup--skip that. I would come back, service isn't bad.

Oh. My. Gosh. This right here is French fry heaven! Seriously.. if you've never been to Home Frite, run there! Now! And if they're not open.. camp outside and wait for them to.. because they're that good !!! On a serious note though.. these fries are amazing! Perfectly golden brown and crispy and delicious!!! And they have different dipping sauces for you to choose from which I'm sure ALL taste just as great. I always get the truffle fries with the Lemon Garlic aioli... FANTASTIC ! Literally nothing wrong with them! Ever!! I've also tried their chipotle ranch sauce and it's amazing as well.. but lemon garlic is still the winner in my eyes. So yes.. please go to Home Frite.. you'd be doing yourself a disservice if you didn't!!

Went to the Bryant Park Holiday Shops location. We went with the truffle fries with garlic aioli. It was fantastic. The fries had a really nice texture to them. They were fried to a perfect crisp on the outside without being too greasy. And the inside was soft and pillowy. The wall of the stall had some drawings of their cooking process and I think they're par-fried, baked, and then finished in the fryer to order. However they do it, the fries are really good. I'd say they're at least as good as Pomme Frite, if not a bit better. The truffle flavor really added to the experience and the aioli was the perfect dipping sauce for it. On a cold day in Bryant Park, there's nothing better than holding some crispy fries as the smell of truffle follows you from store to store.

Some of the best fries I've ever had! I went to the smorgasbord location. Te line is pretty long but it's worth it. I got the Dutch fries, which is the fries along with curry ketchup, aioli, and diced onions. The fries are exactly how I like them, crispy on the outside but not dry, unlike sad fast food restauarant fries. The curry ketchup was specially unique. The portions are massive though, so I would recommend getting one for two or even three people unless you're really hungry!

Hands down the best cheese steak I ever had! I got the truffle cheese steak which came in a hot toasty bun, plenty of gooey cheese, and the perfect amount of truffle flavor. Super rich and heavy. I still dream of going back to dekalb market just to get this

I got the original home cut fries and I really enjoyed them. They were hot and soft, and personally I prefer crispy fries so they didn't really stand out to me. Overall the fries were good though.

Didn't expand l/fill sauce tray and wanted to charge me $1 for extra sauce!

This rating is mainly for the service - the fries were excellent. I paid $8 for the fries with the curry ketchup. I noticed they put very little ketchup in the sauce tray so I asked for more and the guy said "that'll be $1 extra" - for more ketchup! After I paid $8 for fries! If you look in the pic (attached), they didn't even expand the sauce tray so they only filled it to about 1/3 of its capacity. Luckily another worker said he would give me some regular ketchup free of charge. But cmon guys, fix your mistake and don't make the customer pay an extra $1.00 because your worker didn't properly fill the sauce tray!!!

I'm not the person you ask to accompany you to wait in a long ass line to try the latest and greatest food whatever. Not because I don't want to try it, but I'm patient enough to bide my time for the hype of said food thing to wane and then I'm on it. Patience is a virtue and I am very virtuous person. So after seeing these insanely long lines for Home Frite every time I went to Smorgasburg, I managed to catch them at some outdoor art exhibit where there was an outdoor beer garden, a few food stands, and barely any people. Yes! Once I saw the Dutch, I knew I had to go for it. Those crispy meaty fries topped with curry ketchup, lemon aioli, and chopped onions. Holy flavor town! I was practically swooning. They blanket the fries with those toppings instead of serving the sauces separately, so the eating on the go part is kind of cancelled out, but heck if I care. I parked myself down and stuffed my face with potatoey goodness. No regrets.

Hand Cut Truffle Fries w/ Lemon Garlic Aioli
Home Frite for Broadway Bites @ Greeley Square Park (intersection of 33rd Street and Broadway)

Love. Love. Love. Came across this food stand while at the Broadway Bites area in Greeley Square Park (located at the intersection of 33rd Street and Broadway) during the fall and I was blown away. Not only were the portions a great size, the sauces were mind blowing. A friend and I both ordered the truffle hand cut fries that were cooked to perfection with an overflowing amount of lemon garlic aioli to dip. The fries were crispy and perfectly seasoned. The fries are made to order so there was a wait but these fries were definitely worth it. I will most definitely be coming back for more. Also, the crew is so kind! When we just stopped by to give a tip and our compliments for a wonderful job afterwards, they gave us free brownies! (Which were also amazing.) Fantastic fries + personable people. If you come across their stand, be sure to get in line!

Still mourning Pommes Frites despite their MacDougal plans, we decided to try this vendor that the main Smorgasburg account decided is its favorite. Sadly that favoritism was unjustified, as we -- the only customers at Coney Smorg -- were served pricey and occasionally burnt for an absurd $8 ($7 with peanut satay + $1 for an extra chipotle ranch sauce, which they inexplicably had so much trouble explaining*) (No receipt was offered). *They were also flabbergasted when we asked about the pulled pork BBQ item and why they had no relation to fries.

    Malcolm R.

These are definitely better than most any french fry you'll have. Whatever gives them the dark / orange color also adds flavor. They're crispy, seasoned, and fried in something good. Comes with dipping sauces. Lemon aoili is the one they use most, and it's a great pick. There's about 5-6 others. There are huge lines for this stand at Smorgasburg for a reason.

BUT, imho Adel's doesn't really taste as good as the original Halal Guys in terms of flavor and fragrance. The chicken from Adel's is in bigger chunks and some argue is more tender, but the flavor is definitely not close. Also, it's important that it comes with lettuce, tomatoes and a little onion to balance everything out. Finally, You must get both the spicy red and white sauce together to make it all come together! And that line is no joke. You will wait. Plan accordingly. Here's my dilemma: every single time I eat here, my stomach lets me know about it later. Without fail. I've tried adjusting the hot sauce, going easy on portions... doesn't matter. Something about this food and my digestive system just don't agree. At this point I have to accept that it's probably not for me. So why do I keep coming back? Because at 2 AM after a late night, when everything else is closed and you're starving in Times Square, that platter of chicken and rice over white sauce smells like salvation. They're the only game in town at that hour, and honestly, in the moment, it hits. It's the next morning I regret it. If your stomach handles it better than mine, you'll probably love it. The food is tasty and the portions are huge for the price. I just wish I could enjoy it without paying for it twice.

I feel like this place is good, but the white sauce is what makes it. Would I wait another 50 minutes in line, again? Heck to the no - but 1 time? Yes, just to say I tried it. I came in line around 9:45pm and waited approx. 50 minutes before being served. the line just grows and grows.... it is crazy busy! I don't get the line concept here. Because while I was in a long line, when I get to the front, there's another line to the left of the truck... and people seem to be getting their food faster, and the line is like 2x shorter. So that's kind of confusing. Ambience in line and ordering = chaotic. The line is quick in terms of when it is your turn, KNOW what you want. Because you have like 5 seconds to order and that's it. I ordered the special (the spicy rice, lamb and chicken combo, extra white sauce, 3 squirts of hot sauce, and a topped with fries). $13 in total. I would like to say, advice to folks to know what you want before you come. I did not look at menu options beforehand and I did fairly little research so I honestly did not know what to order, just looked at some google reviews and pictures. That is going to help you, in case you do not want the typical lamb and chicken combo. To the food - 1st - they don't care how much hot sauce you want. they're making these bowls in the masses and are just giving you a single squirt so they can make 20 bowls all at the same time. I was hoping for more spice in what I ordered, but it was very slightly spicy. I'm not sure if they let you serve yourself to more, but I'd definitely want more of the hot sauce. 2nd - I didn't taste any spice in the spicy rice. I'm not sure if, again, due to the fast production that it all just taste like regular rice? but didn't see what the hype was there. 3rd - I genuinely think the white sauce is what brings it all together. The chicken was OK to me. I didn't think it was anything special, and would give it a 3 out of 5. texture was OK, flavor was OK... the lamb definitely stole the show. The lamb was absolutely flavorful and full of delicious spices. This reminded me of what I've had in Dubai. Very rich in flavor and just the perfect amount of spices. Overall, I think if you wait for your food to cool down like 20 minutes, you'll get to taste the flavors more. Everything hot together, for me, just didn't allow me to really absorb all the food. But the rice was your average rice. Pita was deliciously soft and pillowy which complemented the white sauce. Chicken was ok. had an OK texture; nothing life changing. lamb was fantastic, and fries were just fries (nothing memorable). For a NYC experience, a 1-time, 50 minute wait is acceptable. And, for $13, that's pretty cheap for the amount of food you get. I would eat it again if the line was 5 minutes. Otherwise, I'm positive you will find similar food/better food elsewhere.
