We live in Arizona and the temperature was over 100 degrees when they literally shoved my father in the back of a non air conditioned van. When I say shove I mean aggressively slamming him into the van repeatedly. If I was there this would not have been allowed to happen but unfortunately I wasn't. What happened to my dad was abusive and careless.

When we had to move her to different Assisted Living facilities due to her needing higher levels of care, because of her severe Dementia, they followed her to each facility. They continued to provide her with fantastic care of her for well over a year. Their nurses were nothing short of fantastic. Their Social worker also assisted us with applying and obtaining Arizona Long Term Care Assistance when she needed it, as she ran out of money towards the end. I can not stress enough, that not all Hospice Care companies are the same in the Phoenix area. Sapphire Hospice is Top Rated compared to other Hospice companies that service our elderly. I learned this when other assisted residents relatives, would see the incredible A+ service my mother-in-law was receiving from Sapphire Hospice Nurses and CNA's as compared to their relatives receiving substantially less long term Hospice care with other Hospice care companies. This became so evident that many other assisted living relatives, changed their Hospice care for their loved ones to Sapphire Hospice. She had severe dementia and she liked to wonder off the premises a lot. The care she received from all the staff was truly amazing!!! Staff physically saw her 2 to three times a week and they phoned me with an update every time they saw her. They were very patient and professional. When my mom needed to be seen every day for what ever reason they did so. For a short time period my mom was at a very very bad memory care facility that I was not aware as to how bad they were. So for three weeks the only care my mom received was from Sapphire Hospice!!! The facility was not feeding, bathing, giving my mom her medication or doing her laundry. If it wasn't for Sapphire Hospice staff my mom would have died at that facility. With Sapphire Hospice staff assistance I found a group home for my mom that actually cared for her. Not all Hospice are the same. If you want an amazing experience try Sapphire Hospice!!!

The week that he spent here after being transferred from adjacent Mercy Gilbert was the best possible way to say goodbye to a beloved man who was suffering through months of metastatic cancer. The interior itself is warm and inviting: each room has a private bath, and French doors opening to a patio; we spent many hours taking a moment in nature, or getting a breath of air on the latter. There's a den with a fireplace, and a large kitchen where you can cook for your loved one, if they can eat. We were able to visit or stay 24/7, and the staff was beyond incredible; we were even allowed to bring the dog to visit, which were some of the most special moments of the week he was there. Through several personal experiences, at hospice both in and outpatient across three states, I can safely say that entrusting your loved one to this inpatient facility will be the best possible experience, at the worst possible time for a family. Special shout out to Nurse Charlotte, who radiates kindness, compassion, and professionalism. Hospice workers are a special kind of healthcare worker, and I tremendously admire the skill set and personality traits they bring to the table.

The nurses at Lund Home cared for my grandma with kindness and dignity--she was clean, comfortable,…read moreand peaceful in their care. For that, we are grateful. Our concern is with the evaluation process. Despite our clear wishes for her to remain at Lund Home, the doctor and social worker decided to transfer her back to her memory care unit. The social worker even told us, "it wasn't her time to pass" and she had "2-4 weeks left." We begged and pleaded for her to stay in their care till her end of life. After being transported back to her memory care unit, that very night she declined, and she passed away the following morning. The doctor never returned our calls, and our concerns were completely disregarded. It was clear to us that Lund Home is run more like a business than an end-of-life care facility. While the nursing staff was wonderful, the decision-making and communication from the evaluation team were devastating and unacceptable. Families deserve honesty, respect, and compassion during such a difficult time, and we did not receive that here. We will never return to the Lund Home and strongly urge others to seek a different option for their loved ones.

They did not properly treat acute constipation, did not treat a fungal sore on his hip, did not treat him for a nasty sore on his heel, and furthermore, did not inform me of it. For all three problems, I had to step in and rattle them into action. Otherwise, these issues would remain unaddressed. It appears they are just waiting for him to die untreated.
