I went to the front desk and explained i cant just sit here all day. they said the appointment is normally 2 hours long for allergy testing. that wasn't communicated to me at all. threw paperwork, the phone, email or in person. A family member needed treatment that ultimately required cauterization. Afterward, Dr. Davey explained that a sponge needed to be inserted for five days. They became very uncomfortable during the process and instinctively reached toward the doctor. Instead of responding with patience or compassion, Dr. Davey abruptly stepped back and said, "That's it, I'm done. I did the best I could." When I asked why he was walking away, he claimed he felt threatened because they raised a hand. I immediately explained that they are intellectually disabled and have special needs. His only response was, "Oh." Things only got worse from there. The doctor asked a nurse to help wet the sponge, then took over again himself. When they flinched once more, Dr. Davey completely gave up, handed me the syringe, and told me to do it myself. As a parent, I was horrified that I had to finish a medical procedure on my own because the doctor refused to continue. By the time we reached the front desk, I was in tears. I made it very clear that Dr. Davey would never treat my family member again. Thankfully, the nurse manager stepped in and showed genuine compassion and professionalism. She listened carefully, helped me file a formal complaint, and was the only person during this experience who made me feel heard and supported. Overall, I left feeling shocked, overwhelmed, and deeply disappointed by the lack of patience, empathy, and understanding shown toward a vulnerable patient with special needs. No family should have to go through an experience like this.

I had traveled to New London for a long weekend to attend a friend's memorial service and after my arrival on Thursday I realized I had forgotten the charger for my Phonak hearing aids. It was going to be a tough weekend. I decided to make some calls and see if I could find help and to make a long story short, I was lucky enough to call Thames and speak to Krista. After checking with audiologist Jean P. Tuneski, she told me they would loan me a charger. They never mentioned a fee or security deposit, just offered to loan me the charger. In retaliation for this complaint, I was denied the information I needed to submit my insurance claim (I had paid up front and then was seeking reimbursement). When I tried to speak with Dr. Parli about this issue, he demanded I leave the office and never come back, and seems intent on keeping the money I prepaid (I have two cleanings owed to me). His dental work is great, I won't deny that, but it does not matter how good his work is if this is how he treats patients.

We have both become increasingly uncomfortable with the front office's communication style and overall handling of concerns. At one point, I explicitly communicated that the cadence and manner in which I was being spoken to was increasing my dental anxiety and making it progressively harder for me to attend appointments. Rather than understanding or professionalism, I was met with dismissal and rudeness from the office manager. More recently, my father had his own horrible experience involving billing and insurance coding issues. During that situation, he was also spoken to disrespectfully by the office manager, who withheld insurance-related information after a negative Facebook review was posted. There is considerably more to this situation, including audio recordings and additional context, but because the matter is still active, I am choosing to exercise restraint in what I publicly disclose at this time. I do want to be fair and acknowledge that the dentists and hygienists at the practice have consistently been excellent. The practice itself also clearly makes an effort to create a calming, comfortable environment for patients through warm pillows, eye masks, and relaxing music, which I appreciated as someone with dental anxiety. Under most circumstances, this would outweigh a problematic office manager, but in this case, the level of disrespect and, quite frankly, unwillingness to do her job makes the practice impossible to continue with comfort.
