Homage is located in downtown Pomona, historic area, but with that minimal parking, lots of homeless and can be a tad bit sketchy at certain times, but Pomona has been doing a rad job at brining in new businesses to revamp the area. I was so excited to try Homage as I've heard great things about this brewery! When I arrived they only had a few beers as most of their kegs kicked over the weekend. I'll definitely go back and give it a second chance as most of the beers they had weren't my style. The service was great, the vibe was vibing, a cute little place for a date night, or pregame before going to a concert or the paradox or something. Small brewery in downtown Pomona next to a cigar bar. The decor inside is eclectic and open. The drink menu is quite small, but it makes sense for the size of the space. Music went with the vibe inside and the service was good. The gentleman that served us our drinks was helpful and friendly. The West Coast IPA was pretty good. I didn't try anything else, but I did see that they also serve natural wine. Overall, this is a cool spot to stop by for a drink before heading out somewhere else. read more

I came on a day that, unbeknownst to me, they were releasing a canned beer for the first time. Right after we walked inside, a long line of people showed up to buy cans. Despite this line, the staff made sure that we were taken care of at the bar. They were welcoming, attentive, and friendly. The beers were creative and delicious. I tried the beer they released that day which was a collab with Green Cheek Brewing. It's a fruity IPA called Modern Art (hazy IPA with oats, milk sugar, pineapple and strawberries) which was very good. There also was a beer with sugar cane in it, and one called Unknown Pleasures which was an imperial stout with toasted coconut, vanilla bean and cocoa nibs which was MY FAVORITE. We were also offered a couple samples- one was a blueberry sour which was nice. The vibe was awesome that day. It probably helped that it was packed with excited beer enthusiasts. One of the workers even suggested a place for us to get delicious shrimp tacos afterwards, which we did. Next time I'm in Pomona I am definitely coming back here to try more of their beer!! read more

Ok, I love this place. I don't find myself here as often as I'd like, but I'm going to try to make it an effort to support them. Stopped by last night before and after a show at The Glass House. Tried their BA saisons, and they were my favorite of the night. The owner's pretty cool, and I love the vibe. The music playing on the vinyls was great, and I enjoyed it much more than I enjoyed our show The Glass House. It sets a relaxing mood to sit back and enjoy good drinks and company. I loved every second of my day at Homage Brewing. I joined some friends here before Thanksgiving and it was the perfect setting to catch up, enjoy awesome beer, and play games! Homage has been on my radar for a while and I'm obsessed with their merch design. The beer is definitely unique, crafty, and smooth. I think I need to invest in a growler because they sell out of things quickly. If it's your first time, opt for a sampler. For $12-15 (can't remember) you get pours of 5 beers. The vibe of the place is great and laidback with some great pourers working keeping the conversations going! Been coming here for years ever since they've opened, nothing has really changed except for the small outdoor seating they added. Chill staff and small selection of beers on tap, mostly saisons and stouts you'll get one or two solid ipa's but would be nice to have a wider selection of beers so I can switch it up on my rounds but considering the size of the place it's understandable. Also the cleanliness of the restrooms have gone down and had an awful smell when I went in. I feel extremely safe in saying the owner is lazy at managing the Pomona location, and rather than admit a simply mistake/mis-management, they doubled down into an obvious lie. Here is the story. On 8/12 at 6:20 (instagram, inspect element) they posted a certain saison was on tap at both locations. I got to the Pomona at 7:35ish. When I walked in, I did not see the saison on tap. Also, for those that have been, the board groups beers by style. Only two saisons were listed on tap, both were written directly below the heading. Also, counting the taps and the beer list, all eight taps were full (this will be an important bit of information in a second). I asked about this specific saison, and neither bartender knew what I was talking about. Not a single one mentioned that it recently kicked (I was there in about an hour the post). I used the contact us page on the website (at 7:43, why I have a specific-ish time of me getting here), saying that the post was a lie. The beer was not on tap. Except I get told by the owner, "when the post was posted we were unaware that the keg was almost out" This is where things start to get fishy, as "we have bartenders switch between opening and closing shifts... [the bartender] was unaware the keg was on earlier" Under this scenario, both bartenders would need to have started at 7pm. As if they started at 6:30, the keg would needed to have been kicked sometime after 6:20, taken out, and replaced in the cooler. Then the opening bartender would have needed to erased this saison from the board, re-written the saison heading (remember, no gap between the heading and the other two), and written down the new beer. All before both of the next shift workers arrived. Now perhaps they both started at 7 or 7:30, giving more than 10 minutes to make the change. Potentially an explanation. Yet, here is the kicker and why I feel safe saying the owner was caught in a lie, rather than admitted a mistake. I was told the Pomona location only had a single sixth keg. They initial posted the saison was on tap at 8/4. I got to the brewery on 8/7 and this saison was not on tap. But that is on me, I took my time getting over. I had no issue, and ordered a different beer since I was already there. The owner did not know that I was there on the 7th. For all of the owners statements need to add up all of the following needed to have occur: The sixth keg was taken off by 5pm on the 4th, while still having beer. It was then put back on tap either late that Sunday, or Wed--Fri. It kicked sometime between 6:20 and 6:45(?) or 7:15(?) (need time for it to have been changed over, erased, and the board re-written, before the closing shift started; neither knew it had just kicked at 7:35). This all seems like a strange list of things that all had to happen. As opposed to: Option 1: The owner never knew it kicked on by 8/7, and was simply trying to save face by saying it was temporarily taken off. They made the post without checking. But it was easier to tell the customer that it had just kicked than take responsibility for their laziness. Option 2: The keg was put back on but kicked earlier in the day; some time before 6:20. The only only confirmed it was on tap at the start of the day (open at 3). This explains neither bartender knowing what is going on. The minor mistake of only confirming three hours earlier was made. A minor error, and an honest mistake. Except then the issue is the owner refused to own up to the mistake. Option 3: The keg was on. Temporarily taken off. Added back on. It kicked between 6:20 and 6:45 (or 7:15). Both of the bartenders working at 7:35 started at 7:00 (or 7:30) and never knew. Option 4: The keg was on. Temporarily taken off. Added back on. The other bartender knew it had been on, but decided not to inform me that it had just kicked (as is normally the custom by good bartenders). I'm going with Option 1 or 2. And rather than admit fault (for even a minor and easily forgivable mistake; option 2), the owner would prefer to say the customer is at fault. read more

Chat flou with masumoto peaches on draft was fiyah! They tend to experiment a lot with bacteria and yeast, so you're go-to will indubitably be funky and sour. They also have their take on hazy IPA's because who doesn't nowadays? *Four Corners* with mosaic, citra, and motueka was notable. It definitely was very tropical and that motueka does give it a nice bitter character. However, this one and their other IPA were still pretty thin, in my honest opinion. The first time we had Homage was at a bottle share and that's when they were still pretty young. Glad we were able to finally journey out to the tasting room to see what they have going for them. Looking forward to more releases by them in the future! It can only get better from here on out. read more

This is my favorite local place to grab a drink. They always have a good selection of unique beers on tap as well as delicious things to snack on like olives or pretzels and sometimes there's pop ups offering different food on their patio. Sometimes I'll sit at the bar alone and talk to the bartender Katie, who is always sweet and fun to talk to (and who I've heard handle drunken advances more politely and professionally than I would ever be able to, and on more than one occasion) she also does a great job choosing the music to fit the ambience. Other times, I'll meet up with friends or a date since it's not overwhelming or too loud to have a conversation. Overall it's a comfy place with cool vibes, for chill people. read more

Pretty good experience overall, but could've been better. The beer is solid, so no issues there. But the service was a bummer. Whenever I go to breweries, I like to talk to the staff about the beer and I think because there was only one guy manning the bar and perhaps was overwhelmed, he was not friendly. I had a few questions between two very similar beers (same style, varied hops, for example), and he just said they were different except the hops. Well, yeah, duh. Small breweries should be proud of the product they produce and I didn't get that here. Plus, there were no taster options, just full pours. The outdoor seating was an issue as well because as a party of four each table only had two chairs. When I asked the guy for more chairs he just said no, no additional chairs. Not helpful at all. I won't be back here, which is unfortunate because the beer is actually pretty good. The saison spritz (blood orange) was quite unique and the hazy IPA was a crowd favorite. read more

My brother-in-law and I were in the area and decided to give Homage Brewery a visit over the weekend. They're located in Art Disctrict in Downtown Pomona, next Fox Theater which is an ideal location and up-and-coming area to be the next Old Town Pasadena. Place just recently opened a few weeks ago and heard great things about them from their recent soft opening. Not your traditional Microbrew urban warehouse establishment that you often see in the South Bay like Smog City or Monkfish. Though the space itself is small, the interior is clean, painted in white and very cozy. No snacks and light bites are served, just beer. Upon entry, I was suprised to see only a few patrons congregating. We sat down at the bar and met the owner Matt. Since we weren't familiar with any of the beers, we ordered the flight ($9) of their popular selections which included Discovery, Unknown Pleasure, Prototype and Le Sauvage. Out of the fab four, we enjoyed the Discovery and Unknown pleasure. We got a pint each ($7). The Discovery is golden ale with mild hoppy finish and Unknown Pleasure is dark Irish stout, surprisingly not too hoppy and very smooth. Unfortunately, they didn't have any IPA's on hand and ran out during their soft opening. It takes about a few weeks to brew a new batch. Homage is a great addition to Pomona. Nice place to chill and have cold one. Looking forward to trying more new brews from this place soon. read more

I've been a couple of times just to pick up a 32 oz crolwer fill and the guys behind the counter were super laid back and gave me a couple of tasters before I made my decision. Location is definitely a plus being surrounded by the other businesses in the arts district of downtown area. Both times I went was during the week so it wasn't super crowded, but I hear it can get somewhat packed in this small but adequate tasting room ...
