I was looking for a place to invite my friend for dinner, and as a burger addict, I had spotted this place during my visit. Once again, you have to know that for a foreign visitor, Switzerland will seem really expensive. At Holy Cow, you can have a burger + fries + a drink for 20CHF. Trust me, it's a good deal when you know that a kebab + Coke is 12CHF ! Good point : the recipes are very original, even as a burger aficionado, I've never seen some of this recipe ! I had one with salsa and avocado, while my friend chose the special Montreux Burger with Gorgonzola. The burger is huge and the meat is juicy : perfect ! The fries are also very good, and you have to try the different syrup/drinks from the "self service" drinks station. Fleur de Sureau is amazing and not too sweet. I would definitely recommend this place if you want to have a great burger. Nothing fancy about the place but the food is amazing.

Cool place for kids and adults. Reminded me of the typical upscale/themed American Burger joint. We just arrived in Lausanne and the kids were starving (according to my 9 year old). We typically don't eat fast food because we live in Paris and try to eat healthy however, Holy Cow was a great indulgence for all of us. There are strange and pleasant favors of drinks for the kids and a large variety of bottled teas and other drinks. Service: 4/5 - The cashier was nice and very helpful and spoke to the boys to help them order. She also did not mind my Franglais as we switched back and forth from English to French. There were not extremely busy and had maybe 10 people eating at the time and no one in line. The order was brought to our seat with a smile. Atmosphere: 4/5 - Reminded me of a scaled down Fudruckers with a Holy Cow theme. There were large tables for group seating so small and large groups should have room. There is also a bar at the window if you are eating alone and a couple 4 person tables. Appearance: 4/5 - The restaurant and the bathrooms were clean. Overall a cool burger and fries place that I would recommend. The food was fresh and home made (not frozen patties). Decent price and much less expensive than the meals at our hotel.

Came here not expecting too much, but the burgers are much better than they look and the frites are super crispy and delicious. While the burgers look dry, they are actually super moist and well seasoned. We tried the Big Smokey Cheese and the chicken burger with bacon and avocado. The chicken burger was amazingly not dry at all and the basil mayo was tasty. Burgers are around 15 francs, and you can add frites and a non alcoholic drink for 19 all in. Great beer selection as well.

Wow, from the meat, blend of flavors, roll and fries, this was truly outstanding! I ordered the montreux jack and blue. I had to eat 1-3 of my fries, then started eating it with a fork and knife to be able to pick it up! Hilariously large burger! The fries are not skinny fries but rather meaty and done perfectly with a tad of a crunch when you first bite into it...anotherwards, not at all soggy! I highly recommend eating here. Next time I'll try one of their salads, maybe...

The pizza is unique, unfortunately I dont know enough to say which style of pizza it is closest to, but it is certainly lacks the characteristics of the Neapolitan style. The pizza is basically what Americans call "thin crust", but the dough is somewhere between "New York" style and Neapolitan. The quality and selection of toppings are very high. And given the nature of the cost of food in this town, this place is really quite reasonably priced. The beer was also very good. I had a "Belgian style" white, and they also had an excellent IPA. The food came out quickly and the staff were pleasant to interact with. I think that if I lived in Lausanne, I would return often. Im glad I tried this place out. FYI: There are two floors. The upstairs was closed when we came in at 3pm in the afternoon.

Pizzas are also unique and might be a little bit greasy, but they taste good! Atmosphere 5/5: Nothing to say about the atmosphere. You're in Brewery restaurant so the place is casual and friendly. Usually busy during the evenings on the 2nd floor on Fridays and Saturdays. Food 4/5: Food is good. Yes the Pizzas are a little bit greasy but they surely taste good! Definitely a good place to try a Beer and a Pizza with friends. Price are between 10 CHF to 20 CHF for a Pizza. I had a 4 Cheese Pizza. Service 3/5: Service might be a little bit slow but I usually take my pizza to go as well. Just call 15-20 minutes before and you can go pick it up. Parking might be a little bit hard to find as well despite the number of street parking. Overall, I would say it's a good place to chill with friends on a Friday evening.

Hôtel Mirabeau Lausanne was the final and most swanky of the 3 hotels we tried during our whirlwind…read moretour of Switzerland in November 2017. We were in town specifically to experience the start of the Lake Geneva-area Christmas Market season and Mirabeau was a great home base for our excursions. The train station is just a couple city blocks down the street (not too steep coming back), there's a bus stop right next door, and you're a 20-minute walk away down to the shore of Lake Geneva or up to Old Town. The wonderful daytime concierge, Peter, started us off with the perfect welcome. We arrived exhausted around 17:30 after a long day of tourism in Solothurn and a rush hour train ride back down to Vaud. Unfortunately, something had gone awry on my reservation (something I suspect was entirely my own fault) and I had reserved a room with 3 beds, but only 1 guest. We were a family of 3 and the room they originally had for us would have been tight, so we were immediately upgraded to a spacious 4th-floor "family room" suite with a balcony over Avenue de la Gare and a partial lake view from the kids' room overlooking Avenue de Rosemont. We paid an additional $50 per night fee for the extra adult, which I consider entirely reasonable especially with the included the $25 daily breakfast buffet for all of us (a bargain compared to what we'd been spending on most Swiss restaurant meals). As it also happened to be the American Thanksgiving holiday, Peter also offered to make dinner reservations for us at his favorite traditional Vaudian-cuisine restaurant (Café du Grütli http://www.cafedugruetli.ch/) that would put us in the middle of the Bô Noël (Lausanne's Christmas market & light display in Old Town https://www.bo-noel.ch/en/). We had a tasty seasonal meal, drank delicious local wine, and made new friends with the friendly proprietors. I later realized that the restaurant was listed as one of the recommended favorites on Trip Advisor and in Rick Steves' book, so we were in good company. Love! Our beds were very comfortable and the soaking tub in the enormous bathroom was great for relieving the stress of the day. TV options included some BBC channels in English, so that was a relief after a week of French- and German-language everything straining our language-ignorant brains. We didn't use the contents of the refrigerated mini-bar, but I appreciated having a fridge to hold my dinner leftovers! We didn't use many amenities around the hotel, but we thoroughly enjoyed the self-served breakfast spread in the 1st-floor restaurant. Everyone (even the picky 5th grader) found something they liked. I personally gorged on lox, sausages, mushroom melange, ratatouille, assorted cheeses & bread, freshly soft-boiled eggs, fruit, and juice, plus plenty of expertly brewed coffee - all great fuel for a day of touring and travel. Reviewer W.R. was right, though. The opening/closing sounds of the doors for these rooms are very loud, and I could see being annoyed if the floor were fully rented with lots of coming & going at odd hours. I always bring heavy-duty earplugs when I travel, so noise wasn't an issue for me this time. I'd definitely return to this hotel for my next visit to Laussane, and if the season were summer, I'd ask for a room on the lakeside. Sunsets over the lake can be spectacular!

We travel here quite a bit to visit my husband's family (usually 4-6 weeks at a time) -- we find special hotels like this are not easy to come by and this one is a stand-out! We've stayed in Ouchy at some of the "higher end" hotels and although also extremely nice, we enjoyed being a little further outside the more touristy area to absorb real life in Lausanne. If you have time, try out Le Flon, easily reached by the nearby train station if you're w/out a car. Great atmosphere for dining, shopping and people watching (modern/urban outdoor setting). Also, do not be swayed by the hotel's Best Western affiliation. This is by no means like any BW in the United States.
