Long standing Thai spot in Thai Town that's open pretty late. The space is pretty large and they're open really late. So it's not too hard to get a table especially if you are coming in on the late side. The folks here are some of the friendliest people you will encounter at any restaurant and the they have a pretty large menu - and I'm not gonna lie... I usually get a little anxious with large menus, but the server helped steer us in the right direction. My buddy and I ended up ordering roasted duck over rice, the three crispy salad, and the pad see ew. Everything we had was flavorful and really scratched that delicious late night eats itch we had. Came back here after 3 years.Very spacious & clean restaurant.Ordered Shrimp Fried Rice and Basil Leaves & Chili Chicken (Slice Cut), after about 40 minutes of waiting (the place wasn't even that busy) the food came out and they mistakenly served us Basil 'Ground' Chicken instead of Chicken Slices !! We asked the owner how long it'll take to remake it and she replied another 25 minutes which we didn't have so we canceled that item and finished our dinner with just our $22 Fried Rice which is expensive that most of the Thai restaurants in that area ! This place was recommended to me by someone and I am so glad I took his advice. I went to Thailand in 2018 and have been searching for a thai place that sells Shrimp Cake and this place had it. It tasted just like the ones I had in Thaliand, which made it even better. We got the Rad na, Pad See Ew, and Larb Salad for the entree. The portions are HUGE. 3 of us could barely finish half each, but if you have big appetites, this place is for you. Everything was great, no complaints here. The mango sticky rice here is bomb. The best I've ever had, this is a must have dessert when you dine here. I can't wait to come back and try other dishes. Service is great. The food came out fast and I love that they deliver in on a cart to bring all the dishes out at once. They do have a small parking lot with valet but I'm not sure what the price is. We came from a recommendation and we have 2 dogs and a baby. They were able to accommodate us at the outside patio. We ordered the sokho pad Thai, shrimp paste fried rice, shrimp cakes, isaan style papaya salad, Thai chicken, and 3 margaritas. Customer service was great no frills very auntie energy. The service was poor, and the bill included an unexplained 18% gratuity, $8 service fee, and additional 3% city service fee, making the total feel excessive. Amazing truly. I have been going for many years. I love this place so much. It's so true to itself and has survived so much in this crazy, wild city of Hollywood, Los Angeles, CA... think about that. The food is always just SO well-made and so, so tasty. Like LEGIT incredible well-flavored, and filling food. The Curries (all of them; and they'll tailor to your spice level), Veggie Spring Rolls, Shrimp Fried Rice, Non-Dairy Thai Iced Tea -- my go to's!! Omg I'm hungry now and want some Hollywood Thai! Now, I'm pescetarian so I haven't tried chicken, beef, etc but whenever I take my meat-lovers here they leave completely converted! :) I love the quirky environment. The solo-karaoke singer at times (charming), the tv's playing whatever's' on above the bar (sometimes competing with other sound-- this can be hard at times but also hey what can you do), the diverse clientele all enjoying themselves and talking as loud or as softly as they want. It's so authentic Hollywierd in the best way (the characters! the storylines)! I've never experienced any fights or drama here. It's an oasis. It's a safe-haven. It's a place where you can come in and be yourself and get amazing food and vibes and be served with the utmost respect (even when service takes long). It's also a very spacious place. Big 4-5 person Booths that face outward towards the rest of the restaurant but also alcove themselves in such a way they can also provide a sense of intimacy and privacy. They aso allow one person to sit at the booths when it's not busy or even when it IS busy-- which I think is awesome! The service is historically great in that local, small-town neighborhood diner kind of way. It's great to have that "CHEERS" vibe in this Quality Hollywood Thai Staple. That said, SOMETIMES they tend to lack the staff-power needed to clear tables in a timely fashion and keep up with service wait times but it's not for a lack of care. They are literally running around that huge building putting out fires most times and it's so endearing to see them actually giving AF and trying. Still, this aspect can be hard when you're hungry or trying to impress a newcomer but I dunno...it's all part of it somehow. They stay open late which is so important and they try and keep prices down historically but in these times economically I think they are having to find ways to cover their own costs and stay afloat and so there are some raises in prices, gratuities, and other service fees that previously weren't there. This might shift the clientele ultimately as everyone won't be able to afford it anymore; yet some will be able to afford it and they'll hopefully take care of our beloved Hollywood Thai Family and Restaurant. Note on Parking : the area can be notoriously awful for parking, they do try and help by creating a paid system ($8?) in their small parking lot (not at all hours and not every night); but really this parking situation is not their issue. The birthday girl had fifty guests & we all fit comfortably. It was private & perfect for a birthday. The food was delivered quickly and was just so so good. Ok I can't let this slide! I'm noticing a trend when we come here and this is the second time we've come after attending the Grand Star Jazz Club (just reviewed). I don't know if it's because we are arriving at like 3am but the service hasn't been that great. When you arrive, they get you a table quick but once you are seated, it takes a while to get service. Now I'm about two drinks in (lightweight) from the club but when I come in and I have looked at the menu, and 5 mins after that, I'm nearly slumped over my menu and the bus boys are barely bringing water. You would think the bus boy would have alerted the waiter or something, but I guess that's normal around there at that time. I briefly looked around and the place wasn't THAT busy but again I could be wrong. Anyway, after what felt like 10-15 mins, we finally saw our waitress and she takes our order. I ordered the kung pao shrimp with rice and an egg on top (I ordered the seafood yellow curry last time). My boys ordered the bbq pork over rice and the pineapple fried rice with Chinese sausage and three Thai ice teas (it's a must at every Thai restaurant). We also found it weird that there are no prices on the menu. The food takes a while to come out and I'm dozing off. I finally see a plate coming praying it's ours and they give it to my friend. I'm thinking ours is coming next as he's chowing down! Nope! We wait about another 5 mins starting at his food like we're in prison ready to jump him and then finally ours comes out. Now the food was hella good! Again, maybe I was a little faded but mine was amazing! The succulent sauces and fresh plump shrimps and salted peanuts had your boy on another planet! (Again I could have been faded imagining these things). Once we received our food, our waiter was nowhere to be found the whole time. Someone left the door open and this cold draft came in. We tried to get someone's attention and couldn't find anyone so me of all people in there, got up and walked over there to close the door. Lastly, when it came time to pay, we had to get someone's attention to find our waiter to pay. Anyway, I see other recommendations for Thai in the area but they close earlier than when we get out of the club, and 24 hour Thai (Sanamluang Cafe) is in East Hollywood. First, what went well. We ordered only two dishes as they were pretty pricey. We ordered grilled pork, really very good, with a dynamite sauce, and a side of carrots. The other dish we ordered was pad Thai sukko, filled with delicious ingredients and topped with a kind of omelette. We rated the food as a five. Our server, Alec, was courteous and helped us to sign what to eat. It was about 7:30 on a Saturday evening, and the place was almost empty. Fine with us cuz we don't like a lot of noise. We were not attended to very well, which took away from our enjoyment. So we rated the service as a three-star, and overall a four. The bill with a average tip came to $52. We also paid $8 for what they call valet parking, although we parked ourselves. Parking is absolutely terrible for street parking, so be prepared to either walk a long way, or pay the 8 bucks. It's been a while since I was last here and just like prior, it did not disappoint. First off, they're open late which is a plus for all the late night craving. Service is always amazing and the staff, they're all so friendly. Parking is tricky as there's little parking lot that does have a parking attendant/valet. Street parking is basically a one off. You'll be lucky to find one infront. The restaurant is pretty big as there's two side. Majority tend to be on the main where the entrance and bar area is. Does look like it's a full bar. They also have a stage with karaoke and live band depending on the day. Menu does offer all your traditional Thai favorites. We went with a bunch of dishes to enjoy and it's the only way. The pad see ew with beef is always a good choice. The clams was good, we didn't really have much as we ended up eating pretty much everything else. Of course the angels wings, bbq pork with the great dipping sauce. As well as the morning glory with the fried pork, duck salad which was amazing and finished off with sticky rice and mango. The food is always fresh and flavorful. Each dish was amazing and the quality is great. You'll always have a good meal here and it helps that they are open late. Casual and to the point Thai dining. The staff is very straightforward. We opted to get the rice soup dish that comes with an egg omlette, morning glories greens and grilled pork. The second concern was that one of the items I ordered is Yum Naem Sod - with the description of, "The aroma of ginger in every bite! A HUGE QUESTION that I unfortunately didn't ask on the spot was why my dish had thinly sliced pig ears instead of ground pork. I know it's pork at the end of the day - but it was really hard to swallow. Literally. I was not expecting to find the protein to be that and was caught off guard. I wish I had talked to the waitress about it. But it was late and she didn't come around to our table afterwards, until she gave us our checks. The ambiance was nice, very spacious and seemed clean. The seats however were worn out. But they were those comfy seats so it was alright. I wish I could receive a refund on the dish that had pig ears, but I didn't even get a copy of my receipt since I paid with cash and she walked away afterwards. Came by after the bar with my girlfriends and it did not disappoint! Parking is very chaotic as their parking lot is jam packed and can probably fit 5 cars. Street parking is a better option but is also tough as it is shared amongst the neighborhood/apartments nearby. There is a plaza that offers valet parking across the street/plaza though. We all ordered and shared family style and still had plenty leftover. The food was delicious and service was very attentive and quick. There was a birthday party across the restaurant from us but the server was very nice and offered to move us if they were too loud for us which was very sweet! When we asked, they said it was a Thai restaurant, so we decided to give it a try. Since my parents had never had Thai food before, I ordered everything for the table: Pad Thai, Pad See Ew, Tom Yum, papaya salad, a mussel dish, and mango sticky rice (which my daughter picked from the pictures). She was really hungry, so we politely asked if they could bring the mango sticky rice first. Even though there was only one other table, we waited over 20 minutes with no food. Eventually, after about 30 minutes, the dishes started coming out -- but the mango sticky rice we requested first came out LAST. My daughter just had to sit there watching everyone else eat, which was frustrating. The food itself leaned more traditional, which is fine, but it didn't really match our taste. What really upset me was the bill. There was an automatic 18% charge added -- with no explanation beforehand, no notice when the bill was given, and no clear description on the receipt other than "18% add-on." No indication whether this was a tip or a service charge. On top of that, tax was applied to the total including that 18%, which made it even more questionable. I asked to speak to the manager, but communication was difficult. The only explanation I got was that "the system automatically adds it and it is accurate." That doesn't answer the question. Also, they charge an additional 3% if you pay by card. Considering the level of service and food quality, even a 10% tip would have felt generous. We were originally going to order the regular pad thai, but the waitress suggested getting the special one with fried pork, and it turned out to be my favorite dish! I would go back just for this dish. I dined here on a Saturday in the mid/late afternoon, so the restaurant wasn't busy and we were easily able to park in the lot. Came in after the bars closed in Pasadena with a late night eater like myself. Had a tasty spread of roasted duck with noodles, curry with tofu, chicken sate, white rice, pickled cucumbers....was a very satisfying late night food adventure. I've been coming here for years and love the expanded interior dining area. I need to come here earlier than 2am to try out the lovely bar. read more
