Food was okay, specifically what bothered me was that we saw a roach in the restaurant after we were finished eating... definitely not good for the ambiance. The other issue my friends had was that there was a 3% charge if you used your card. Servers were friendly but I doubt we will come back after seeing the roach.

Here on Valentines Day and it is poppin! Trust me I always went to Ocha , but I came here for the Laker game and never left ! The food is great , the people are better and the playlist is best! Absolutely love it here !

First, what went well. We ordered only two dishes as they were pretty pricey. We ordered grilled pork, really very good, with a dynamite sauce, and a side of carrots. The other dish we ordered was pad Thai sukko, filled with delicious ingredients and topped with a kind of omelette. We rated the food as a five. Our server, Alec, was courteous and helped us to sign what to eat. It was about 7:30 on a Saturday evening, and the place was almost empty. Fine with us cuz we don't like a lot of noise. We were not attended to very well, which took away from our enjoyment. So we rated the service as a three-star, and overall a four. The bill with a average tip came to $52. We also paid $8 for what they call valet parking, although we parked ourselves. Parking is absolutely terrible for street parking, so be prepared to either walk a long way, or pay the 8 bucks. The food was good enough that we will be coming back. We couldn't figure out why, with so few diners, we were not paid attention to at all by the servers.

Wish I lived closer because this could have been my new favorite Thai spot... So fun & so good! I was invited to a birthday party in their back room. The birthday girl had fifty guests & we all fit comfortably. It was private & perfect for a birthday. The food was delivered quickly and was just so so good. What stood out to me most was that the servers and woman (who seemed like the owner or manager) were all REALLY KIND. Even the busboys went out of their way to help & followed through on every request. Their sodas and thai iced teas are HUGE - think beer stein huge lol. When every other restaurant in LA is giving less for more money it was nice to see. Full bar & generous pours Oh and Did I mention they offer Karaoke? Karaoke was really fun - They had every song we requested The other diners were fun to party with too no hood or bad vibes here!

Ok I can't let this slide! I'm noticing a trend when we come here and this is the second time we've come after attending the Grand Star Jazz Club (just reviewed). I don't know if it's because we are arriving at like 3am but the service hasn't been that great. When you arrive, they get you a table quick but once you are seated, it takes a while to get service. Now I'm about two drinks in (lightweight) from the club but when I come in and I have looked at the menu, and 5 mins after that, I'm nearly slumped over my menu and the bus boys are barely bringing water. You would think the bus boy would have alerted the waiter or something, but I guess that's normal around there at that time. I briefly looked around and the place wasn't THAT busy but again I could be wrong. Anyway, after what felt like 10-15 mins, we finally saw our waitress and she takes our order. I ordered the kung pao shrimp with rice and an egg on top (I ordered the seafood yellow curry last time). My boys ordered the bbq pork over rice and the pineapple fried rice with Chinese sausage and three Thai ice teas (it's a must at every Thai restaurant). We also found it weird that there are no prices on the menu. The food takes a while to come out and I'm dozing off. I finally see a plate coming praying it's ours and they give it to my friend. I'm thinking ours is coming next as he's chowing down! Nope! We wait about another 5 mins starting at his food like we're in prison ready to jump him and then finally ours comes out. Now the food was hella good! Again, maybe I was a little faded but mine was amazing! The succulent sauces and fresh plump shrimps and salted peanuts had your boy on another planet! (Again I could have been faded imagining these things). Once we received our food, our waiter was nowhere to be found the whole time. Someone left the door open and this cold draft came in. We tried to get someone's attention and couldn't find anyone so me of all people in there, got up and walked over there to close the door. Lastly, when it came time to pay, we had to get someone's attention to find our waiter to pay. Anyway, I see other recommendations for Thai in the area but they close earlier than when we get out of the club, and 24 hour Thai (Sanamluang Cafe) is in East Hollywood. The food here is still good but the service can use some work OOOC 3.5 out of 5 Afros

If only there were perfect words to describe the amazing food that this place offers. To start off the service is top notch! Mama makes you feel like you're dining at a 5 star restaurant!!! If only I could have all the recipes!! Great ambiance!!! Shout out to the owner, A.K.A Mama, the service of this place never ceases to amaze me but the quality of the food is outstanding. I can't seem to stop coming back even when my family Dr. advices me to take care of my high cholesterol levels but overall amazing experience!!! Come dine at the best Thai Food in LA you won't be disappointed and they are very accommodating with any orders!!!

It's been a while since I was last here and just like prior, it did not disappoint. First off, they're open late which is a plus for all the late night craving. Service is always amazing and the staff, they're all so friendly. Parking is tricky as there's little parking lot that does have a parking attendant/valet. Street parking is basically a one off. You'll be lucky to find one infront. The restaurant is pretty big as there's two side. Majority tend to be on the main where the entrance and bar area is. Does look like it's a full bar. They also have a stage with karaoke and live band depending on the day. Menu does offer all your traditional Thai favorites. We went with a bunch of dishes to enjoy and it's the only way. The pad see ew with beef is always a good choice. The clams was good, we didn't really have much as we ended up eating pretty much everything else. Of course the angels wings, bbq pork with the great dipping sauce. As well as the morning glory with the fried pork, duck salad which was amazing and finished off with sticky rice and mango. The food is always fresh and flavorful. Each dish was amazing and the quality is great. You'll always have a good meal here and it helps that they are open late. Weekend, you'll have the nightlife crowd rolling in for a late meal.

Casual and to the point Thai dining. The staff is very straightforward. We opted to get the rice soup dish that comes with an egg omlette, morning glories greens and grilled pork. It was the first time I've had that dish and was told it's a much more homey dish. The pork was grilled perfectly. They also have large screen tvs and what looked like a band set up area that could be for live entertainment or karaoke.

Thai food here is good! Portions are huge but to me it fits the price. I got pad Thai with shrimp. It was super flavorful and a good portion and came out to $22 with tax. I would recommend the pad Thai and this restaurant. Staff is friendly and food comes out fresh and hot. Nice seating inside.

Came by after the bar with my girlfriends and it did not disappoint! Parking is very chaotic as their parking lot is jam packed and can probably fit 5 cars. Street parking is a better option but is also tough as it is shared amongst the neighborhood/apartments nearby. There is a plaza that offers valet parking across the street/plaza though. We all ordered and shared family style and still had plenty leftover. The food was delicious and service was very attentive and quick. There was a birthday party across the restaurant from us but the server was very nice and offered to move us if they were too loud for us which was very sweet! The Tom yum soup was so warm and tasted just like the Mama noodle ramen we all know and love! It was very aromatic and had soo much veggies and protein. The other dishes like Pad Thai and Pad Kee Mao was plentiful and we had so much leftovers! The century egg with basil was very unique and paired so well with rice.

This is a solid place for Thai food. My husband and I tried the Fresh Shrimp with Spicy Lime Sauce, Yum Naem Sod, Pad Thai Sukhothai, and Chae Po Rice. Everything tasted delicious, and the portions were huge. The fresh shrimp and pad thai dishes were unique. We were originally going to order the regular pad thai, but the waitress suggested getting the special one with fried pork, and it turned out to be my favorite dish! I would go back just for this dish. I dined here on a Saturday in the mid/late afternoon, so the restaurant wasn't busy and we were easily able to park in the lot. The restaurant itself is big, but the parking lot is small though, so parking will be tough at night.

Went to this restaurant for an early dinner and was very impressed with the food. There was a ton of seating on a Saturday around 6pm so it seems like a great place to bring a big group. I like how they open late and have a full bar as well, though I didn't get a drink this time. I ordered the Pad See Ew and the Shrimp Cakes. The Pad See Ew was soooo delicious I was actually surprised because it wasn't super oily and the flavor was addictive. I had to force myself to stop eating, it was a large portion for one person. The shrimp cakes were phenomenal! Perfectly fried and crunchy, with amazing flavor especially when dipped in their plum sauce. I thoroughly enjoyed both dishes. I probably could have split the pad see ew and the shrimp cakes with one other person. Shrimp cakes were filling as well, they're about as big as a burger patty. I definitely want to try their other dishes here as they had a lot of options to choose from! Great place for Thai food, I'm bringing everyone here.

The place is super spacious. Lunch was not busy at all. Everything we ordered was so rich and umami. The clams and the tender morning glory stood out to me. Pretty solid meal, with a little extra to spare for leftovers.

The regular menu is quite expensive with the cheapest at $17 for appetizer and salad options and most expensive at a whooping $80. The lunch menu was more affordable but still on the pricey side $21-$32 with add on options. The waitress was taking our orders and what surprised me was with my co-worker ordered the pad see ew and the waitress asked her how spicy she wants it. I was aw shocked. I'm not a Thai food expert but I do know pad see ew is a noodles dish that's offers a sweet soy sauce flavor. Never served spicy. I didn't get to try the dish but when I asked my co worker how it taste she said it was spicy and not sweet at all. I'm not sure that was an authentic pad see ew. I ordered from the lunch menu and got the tumeric chicken, with steamed vegetables and paid extra $7 to substitute for a papaya salad. I asked for #2 spice level but it was not spicy at all. Other co workers said they asked for medium but it was way too spicy. So it looks like their spicy levels are inconsistent. I'm not sure how this restaurant can justify the prices with the quality they are serving. Probably won't be back. Service was mediocre. Didn't offer to refill our waters. I felt like I came to eat and my mom's house. They take Debit Card and Apple Pay WITH a pin only. I forgot my wallet and paid with Apple Pay. It did not have a place for tip which made me feel awful. At the end I apologized and she was like "it's ok, next time." And she was genuinely fine with it. She reassured me not to worry about it. So I'm determined to come back to tip her because if anybody deserved a tip it was her. I ordered Pad Thai with tofu- I like to order peanut sauce on the side and the woman found it interesting and struck a non judgmental conversion about it. I could really tell she was genuinely curious. This was my favorite dish. It was good. I also ordered spicy fried rice with tofu and spicy panang curry with vegetables. I chose 4 out of a 6 for spicy and it was not spicy at all for me. The rice was fine, nothing extraordinary and nothing bad. The panang curry was yummy. I don't know if it's regional but it was very light in taste and light in thickness. BUT I enjoyed it for what it was. Felt like I had gotten home made chicken soup or something like that comforting and not overly processed. Maybe it's because I ordered it with no protein and just vegetables. I ordered a lot of food so I explained to her that I was going to eat some and take the rest to go. When she brought the food she brought it nicely packed without a bag. She also brought me a real plate and utensils to eat here. She let me know that when I was ready she'd bring a bag which I thought was thoughtful. She also made sure to say "take your time, no need to rush. We close at 8" and it was 5pm. Again, it felt genuinely nurturing, she wanted to make sure I felt taken care of and welcomed. It meant a lot because I was frazzled from forgetting my wallet and from having a hard day at work. This was my first time here and it won't be my last. There is a small lot on site. This place is by far my favorite Thai restaurant and that's why it's so disheartening to write this…read morereview. I have written at least 2 glowing reviews of the restaurant in the past and wish this could be one of them, but it's not. Over the last 4-5 days I have tried no less than 2 dozen times to call the restaurant during proper business hours to order food for pick-up as I often do. The phone rang and rang to no avail. I live too far from the restaurant to just pop up and place an order so I rely on calling ahead. I have been a customer of this restaurant for at least the last 9 years and have almost never had the aforementioned experience. Though I do recall not being able to get a call through several times on one or two occasions in the relatively distant past. Today I was finally able to get a call through and began placing my order which includes shrimp. I ALWAYS request the tail (with shells) to be removed from the shrimp as I find it quite difficult to enjoy my meal if I'm constantly having to pick off shells with my hands. It's unsanitary and messy. Removing the tails from 15-20 shrimp prior to adding to an entree or soup should take no more than 60 seconds and that's if one is moving at a glacial pace. However, today I was told that the kitchen was too busy to honor my request. I assured the lady taking my order than I was a loyal customer and make this request will every order I place and it is always honored. She repeated her claim that the kitchen was too busy and refused to do it. I cancelled my order and ended the call. Now I usually order food from the restaurant 4-5 times a month and usually spend about $65 each time not including tip. That is approximately $325 per month of my hard earned money that I give to this restaurant in exchange for great food and service. I am appalled and quite upset that having been a loyal customer for almost a decade and spending as much money there as I do per month that they could at least honor my patronage by simply taking an additional 60 seconds in the kitchen to make my meal more enjoyable. Her refusal to do such a minuscule task has deeply soured my experience with Hoy-Ka not to mention the fact that I could not reach the restaurant for almost a week by phone for no apparent reason. I will not be going back to this restaurant until they rectify this situation.

Each time I've come the waitstaff has been super friendly, and the food amazing. So, when planning a little birthday lunch for my mom's 81st birthday, this was one of the first places I thought of. My mom lives in south LA and we live in the valley, so after picking her up, we wouldn't have to travel far to eat. Although we planned to arrive to the restaurant at 2, traffic was horrible and we arrived at 230pm. After looking for parking, I dropped the fam off at 2:40 so they could sit and look at the menu while I found parking. I get a text from my husband saying they closed at 3 so hurry. This was news to me, as I thought they closed at 5. I found parking and rushed in at 2:48, to see my family outside the restaurant. Perplexed, I went in to ask if we could still eat, as it wasn't yet 3pm. No wait staff came to the front to greet me, so I walked in a bit and asked the waiter if it was okay to eat. The waiter said we close in ten. I said I thought the website said you closed at 5. I must have read it wrong. I understand, but it's not 3 and we came a bit of a distance and it's my mom's 81st birthday. The waiter, whose name is Jack, offered to ask the kitchen if they would still make food. I said yes please would you ask? While Jack was asking, another waiter asked me if I had been helped. I told him yes, that Jack was asking the kitchen if we could still have lunch. This waiter says, we're closing in 10. I'd like to have lunch too. And walks away. Yes, with shade. Jack returns and says it's fine as long as we can order within a few minutes of getting the menu. I say great and we all come in. The 2nd waiter takes our order with the least amount of personality he possibly can, and the whole lunch is slightly awkward and we're not able to truly enjoy ourselves with the feeling of "we better hurry up and eat" lingering. By the time we ordered and received our food (which was delicious as usual) , there were still 4 other groups of customers there, and we actually left the restaurant within a minute or two after the last customers before us. Also, no one came around to ask how our food was and if we needed anything. I'm giving 3 stars because this experience didn't quite sit right with me. Yes, it was near closing, but your doors weren't closed and there was no sign saying last call/order at 2:45 or anything like that. I feel like once the kitchen approved making our lunch, customer service should have been at its peak for paying customers, who gave no attitude and tried to be as polite with the ask as possible. It was not. I still tipped 25%, because Jack (waiter 1) was polite and my 81 old mama who I was celebrating raised me that way, but I'm not sure I'll patronize them again.

After one meal, this is already one of the best Thai spots I've tried in LA!…read more Came with friends and ordered a bunch of dishes, and every single plate was ridiculously delicious. The Pad Thai was the best I've had outside of Thailand. Extremely well balanced, not too sweet, not too tangy, not drowning in sauce, just perfectly done with great noodle texture and loaded with shrimp. The Pad Kee Mao was so flavorful. Smoky, spicy, full of flavor, and had that proper "wok hei" char that makes noodles addictive. The Pad See Ew was equally rich and savory, and deeply satisfying. We also got the turnip omelette (Kai Jeow with preserved radish) and it blew my mind, honestly. It is so simple, but packed with flavor. Somehow one of the best egg dishes I've ever had. The morning glory with pork was another standout, super fresh, garlicky, and cooked perfectly. Everything came out hot, portions were generous, and the whole table went silent because the food is too good to talk through lol. On top of that, the servers were super nice, friendly, attentive, and made the whole experience even better despite how busy it was :) Packed restaurant, amazing energy, AMAZING food. This place just ruined average Thai food for me. Already thinking about when I'm going back!!!

I really wish I can love this place but it's really disappointing. What once was known as the best…read moreThai food in LA, is no longer the case. We got the raw shrimp salad, spicy catfish and bbq pork over rice. The raw shrimp "salad" is probably the best thing we've ate, but the chili sauce was over powering and couldn't really taste the freshness of the shrimp. And I feel like there could've been saw garlic to go along with it, but nope, just decorative cabbages that is not edible. As for the bbq pork over rice, the sausage was good and the crispy pork too. But the BBQ pork itself was HORRIBLE I literally spit it out. It tasted like old refrigerated dry meat, barely edible. And then the spicy catfish, the portion was so small, it looked like someone ate half of it. The pieces very tiny and it was so dry it tasted like it was refried. The spicy sauce didn't help much. And I overheard the table next to us waited around 30 mins for their dishes. Overall, I'll not be coming back here. There are much better Thai spots than this. Not to mention the parking is horrible as it was valet only on a Saturday.
