Beware - health code violations! I stopped in today for a pedicure and no chip manicure. When getting my pedicure, the tech pulled the cuticle cutter out of a bucket and it had not been sterilized. I had to ask her several times to get a sterilized/cleaned cuticle cutter. She finally got one and I proceeded with the pedicure. When I went to get my manicure, the same thing happened- the tech pulled out a cuticle cutter that had probably been used on the person before me. I asked nicely a few times for her to get a sanitized/cleaned cuticle cutter with no success. The male tech next to me told me that "she doesn't know what you're asking for." I asked him to help communicate the request and he responded "if she needs help, she'll let me know." I wasn't able to get a sanitized cuticle cutter so I ended up paying for what had been done and leaving without my no chip manicure. I'm from out of town and get my nails done about every 3 weeks. I have never encountered this level of disgustingness. The fact that the technicians are not routinely using sanitized tools is a huge problem, a health risk, and a health department violation. I was treated like my simple request was something major. This is something you shouldn't have to ask for. It should just be done! You are putting your customers at risk for fungal, bacterial, and major infections (like hepatitis) - this is not a joke. Little knicks/cuts happen and you not taking appropriate safety precautions is pure negligence. I have a background and degree in public health so this is not just someone being difficult. I left a report for the Wisconsin Health Department, and the health department is required to investigate any health code violation submissions. read more

Hands down, highly recommend Hollywood Nails. Recently visited the salon after safer at home was lifted. First thing you see on the door is all customers must wear a mask to enter and sanitize their hands as soon as they come in. The salon was super clean and they had installed barriers between the clients and the techs. No walk ins are allowed, and they are spacing out appointments. I was there the entire 1.5 hours with only 2 other customers. I had my nails soaked off, a full set put on, a pedicure and an eyebrow wax. Henry and Donna did a fantastic job! My nails and toes looked great! And after 3 months of not being in a salon, it felt not only good to be there but I really felt they did a great job ensuring their customers felt safe due to COVID. This salon was wonderful. Henry did my nails, I got a gel full set. He took his time, was thorough, and was so kind. Everyone working there seemed happy. They were super cautious and thoughtful in regards to COVID-19 precautions which gave me peace of mind. You must wear a mask, they have you put hand sanitizer on right when you walk in, and they have shields up between you and your nail tech. All the nail techs in the salon had a mask on the entire time, even when not with clients. They gave me a hand sanitizer to go too which was really thoughtful, especially during this time. I was a little upset that after making an appointment a couple days in advance I still had to wait 30 minutes before I was able to sit down. It's not a. Oh deal to some people, but I have children and I couldn't bad away from our baby too long. When I walked in no one greeted me or even looked up At me until i stood at the counter for a bit. Then he finally stopped what he was doing And asked Me what I wanted. Horrible dip! I thought I would give them a try since they aren't far from work and would save me the usual 45 minutes for my dip. The guy who did mine did not even know the dip process. He put the curing liquid on after every dip and put my nails under the UV light. I got home and noticed that they were all cloudy and dull looking. I had to paint normal polish over them just to get by. The place looked dirty and there were dogs running around! I'm pretty sure that is against WI health regulations. At one point one of the guys just opened the door and let one of the dogs run lose out to the parking lot. read more

As the tech was cutting my toe nails the guys hand was shaking, he cut my toe nails crooked as a result. He had to re-polish one of toes- twice! I went to get a gel removal and manicure and I was just not happy with the results. The manicurist got paint on every single one of my fingers while working and only removed the paint on some. Also from the gel removal my nails were insanely damaged and you could see the uneven removal under the paint. I really wanted to like it...but they didn't start until 20 minutes after my appointment. I understand they're busy and trying to make money after a tough year. I get my pedicure and no chip. They did not even buff my feet and the polish is thin and uneven . My no-chip manicure is embarrassing(paint all over the sides and none on the tip). She rushed me out the door before I could even look at my nails. Now I am scrambling to find another nail place before a wedding this weekend. I called several places with better reviews and they were all booked. I took a chance on this place and I'm glad I did. They got me right in before the Saturday rush hit. They did a great repair job on one of my nails and then gave me a gel manicure. The staff was friendly and positive, albeit seemingly more interested in talking amongst themselves than with the customers. They managed a busy schedule efficiently. I wanted to treat my oldest daughter and granddaughter to a set of artificial nails and then my daughter suggested a pedicure. So I said sure. Wish I didn't. The older lady that worked on my feet seemed like she didn't want to be there also I've never had a pedicure before. I did notice nobody does it the same way. Anyway I forgot and wore my moccasins not thinking when she was done it was like she was trying to hurry me to get my shoes on to start my nails. Then the guy I had for my nails had 2 phones where he was watching 2 different live feeds of a bar and a home or something and answing the phones. He cut my real nails really short and some of my nails didn't go all the way to the sides, but on my drive home my big toe on my left foot started throbbing when I got home there was blood on my big toe where she had cut me and the toe right next to it. Well I put antibiotic cream on it but it got worse and I ended up going into the dr. And she had to order a stronger cream for it. It's been 2 weeks and it still hurts. I've been getting manicures and pedicures on a regular basis for probably 25 years. Because I get manicures bi-weekly or even weekly, I usually seek out the asian places that are quick, affordable and don't require an appointment. I find myself in search of a salon in the lake geneva area so today I tried Hollywood Nails for the first time. Pedicure: the male technician absolutely reeked of cigarette smoke. What a turn off! The massage and filing portion of the pedicure was minimal at best and overall, I was not impressed and had decided I would probably continue my search for a good, local option next week. Onto my manicure: Have you ever had one of those really slow techs that exude zero confidence and you think to yourself "great, this must be her first day and I am her guinea pig". During an excruciating slow manicure with an absolutely pathetic hand massage, the tech accidentally touched my wet polish ruining one of my nails. No biggie. But then she tried to just polish over the smashed polish. I had to ask her to fix it the right way, my removing the polish on that nail and starting over. Should I be paying for smashed polish? While she reluctantly began to fix the damaged paint job, I noticed that she used no base polish. when I asked about this another worker came over to explain that they don't use base polish with the color I'd chosen. Ok, whatever. Overall, this was a disappointing experience. I could tell that they cut corners to save money and didn't put any effort into a positive, relaxing experience for their guests. they said all the right things as they appologized, but I truly don't think they even understand the difference between a good experience and a bad one. read more

My mom and I have been going here for years and lately each time we have been coming the service has been less than average. I hate to write negative reviews but today pushed me to the limit. My mom had red nail polish that needed removal from her manicure which was 3 weeks old - she was then going with the OPI Bubble Bath. When they did her nails not only was it completely rushed but when we were leaving I noticed her finger was bleeding as well as red polish that was still on her skin on several fingers. When we got in the car (in the sunshine) I noticed she still had red under her nails so the "clean" look of Bubble Bath was not so clean. I completely understand putting a light color after red is somewhat difficult at times however they did not have her wash her hands or use a brush to remove the extra red from under the nails. Instead both people there were speaking in a rather loud tone about why the red is showing - told her to just go with a dark color. I asked why they were yelling when my mom was also completely bleeding and they brushed it off saying they weren't yelling (in a very LOUD tone). It was embarrassing, she was bleeding for Christ sake. They did repaint her nails and she is OK with it but it's not what she wanted. The previous time we asked for Bubble Bath my mom walked out with a dull yellow - NOT Bubble Bath that she wears all the time. It appeared they used an old color or another color - unfortunately I wasn't paying attention because in the past we have never had problems. Needless to say, we won't be returning. I know it's $15 ($18 with tip) but a manicure should be a time to relax and enjoy your little break in this fast paced world - not rushed, bleeding and walking out with a color you didn't want. read more

I had a basic manicure for $15 and it was fine, nothing special. A little less hand therapy/moisturizing than I'm used to, but otherwise adequate. The space is nice enough (big leather massage chairs for pedicures and two big-screen TVs to watch) but the cleanliness level was a little lacking. They don't use a disposable nail tech set for each client like some nail places I go to, and there were discarded acrylics on the floor at my feet while I was getting my manicure, so I'm deducting a star. read more

They need to stop talking walk ins when they have appointments lined up, have people waiting, and have workers stop in the middle of a job to start another. UNACCEPTABLE. 3. The man who was doing my nails had a large open wound on his hands that looked borderline infected and it was not covered with a bandaid.
