Hollywood Feed on Houston Northcutt Boulevard in Mount Pleasant is one of my favorite pet stores in the area. They have an excellent selection of quality items available and you can always find exactly what you are looking for. The staff here is very attentive and willing to stop what they are doing to help you. I have been happy with all of the purchases that I have made from here.

    r. Next to Whole Foods, in which I'm a frequent shopper, it's convenient to stop in for food, treats, and toys that my boy love

Searched on the internet and Petco.com had it - added bonus, it was on sale. Ordered the toy and marked it for pick-up at the local Mount Pleasant store. I love that feature! Secure the item and pick it up next time I'm out. Received my email from Petco.com saying my order was ready, and it such a simple process. Go in, show them the email on my phone, give my name, and voila - the item is pulled from their cabinet up front (very close to the front door and quick), and I am on my way. Added bonus is getting to see the cute dogs who come in for grooming.

The first time, I called ahead to make sure everything was in order before driving to my appointment. When I arrived, I was told my dog's rabies vaccination was out of date. No one mentioned this during the phone call, and because my vet was already closed, there was nothing I could do except leave and waste my trip. After updating everything, I scheduled another appointment and again called beforehand to confirm there would be no issues. I specifically made sure to bring proof of the rabies vaccination with me. When I arrived, I informed them that my dog takes Prozac daily for separation anxiety. They then refused service, claiming they could not groom dogs taking Prozac. This made no sense. Their website states restrictions regarding sedatives such as Trazodone, but Prozac is not a sedative--it's a daily prescription medication for anxiety. Instead of clearly explaining their policy, Jerry and another employee seemed unable to find the actual policy and were trying to reference unrelated documents. The entire interaction felt disorganized and unprofessional. What was most disappointing was the complete lack of accountability. No one apologized for the inconvenience, despite this being the second time I had called ahead specifically to avoid issues and the second time I wasted my time driving there for nothing. At this point, I have no confidence in this grooming department. If staff members can't accurately communicate or understand their own policies, it doesn't inspire trust in the quality of care they provide. Very disappointing experience, and I will not be returning.

They replied to my lengthy application fast. Which initially brought excitement to our family. Just to read a one line "we need dated receipts and prescriptions for heartworm medications for your other dogs". I included a screen shot of auto renewal with chewy as well as their shot records. With an explanation on not having dates receipts bc we didn't use a pharmacy we used online as well as samples. The one line, unfriendly, gross demanding replies had me dumbfounded. We aren't 15 year olds trying to adopt a shelter mixed breed dog for $500 plus travel. We are professional and well educated people with the means to give this puppy a wonderful life. Clearly this un-named person hiding behind the email palmpaws@yahoo.com is in the wrong industry. It's scary ..... zero passion for they do. Her goal is not to find the best home. It's control. We hope bay boy Bowie finds a beautiful loving home soon.

She accused me of being condescending because I simply asked how the application process works. We had requested to meet a few different dogs and told her we were very flexible with our schedules. No response. Offered to foster and she turned me down, accusing me of trying to skirt the system. I reiterated my offer to foster when I read a couple posts stating she was in desperate need, still no response. We have moved on to another rescue group with very positive results, but this has been so disappointing, knowing how many dogs need to find homes and watching this power monger strutting her stuff under the guise of how busy and exhausted she is and she is only a volunteer - BLAH BLAH BLAH. She actually put a disgruntled post up stating how disappointed she was that no one stepped up to foster a dog that was in need and she shamed the readers. What a martyr! I have another friend whose dog died about a year and a half ago and they finally put an application in for a dog a few months back. She and her husband both work from home and do not have children. Their home has a nice fence in the backyard and they both would be perfect candidates for a dog or 2. They cannot understand why no one reached out to them after putting in an application and leaving a couple messages.
