I did receive a response from the owner that was very kind. Nine months later I decided to take just one of my dogs Sophie to get groomed. And she is 15 yo maltese - and she is fussy ! They did a great job they did exactly what I asked for - she was not upset and I can honestly say that my earlier review was based on one mistake that they made a year ago. I think these guys are great and I will be bringing both my dogs back again soon the prices are reasonable and the people there are good people!

After 2 hours of driving to fix their mistake, the owner Chad refused to apologize, refund, or take accountability and claimed a quick 20-minute brush counted as the full service deshedding. Details: We scheduled a deshedding appointment for our dog the week of the 9th for Friday afternoon. At pickup, I noticed my dog was not fully dry, and the total charge was $55 instead of the $70 we previously paid for a deshedding service. When I asked Eric about the price difference, he assured me the deshedding had been completed and that the groomer simply adjusted the price because my dog was not shedding as much. Later that evening, my dog was shedding more than before the appointment. The following morning (Saturday the 14th), I contacted the owner, Chad, who apologized and asked us to return Tuesday or Wednesday after 5 p.m. so he could correct the issue personally. We drove from Mount Pleasant (30 minutes each way) on Tuesday, but Chad was not present. Eric took our dog back for approximately 20 minutes and later acknowledged that the deshedding service had not been performed. He showed us the amount of hair removed and stated he would inform Chad so the situation could be made right. After not hearing back for several days, we contacted Island Pet again regarding a resolution, including the time spent driving to correct the mistake. During that conversation, Chad was defensive, raised his voice, and stated there would be no refund, credit, or further resolution. He claimed the 20-minute brushing session qualified as a deshedding service, defining it as de-shed shampoo, time to sit, followed by blow drying and brushing. However, that full process was not performed during the original appointment. We booked and expected a deshedding service but were instead charged for a basic wash, plus tip, and spent two additional hours driving.

So I've taken my dog here for several baths. They have always treated my girl so well. She smelled…read moregreat and they would do a great job. Her bath would be $35 and I'd always tip $10-$20. Well it's been about a year since I've taken her because of COVID and just wanting to save money and bathe her myself. (She never needs a haircut) Anyways I called to make an appointment and the lady told she has her scheduled for xx date during the week and she could be ready by noon for pick up. I had my father drop her off on the day of appointment and they said they didn't have an appointment for her. So he called me in a panic. I spoke to the lady and she accidentally scheduled her for a weekend! When we aren't available. Thankfully she owned up to the error and said she could still work her in that morning. Great!!! I go and pick her up. They tell me the total. A simple bath went from a reasonable $35 to $60! She was t needing a haircut, she just needed a bath. The lady explained they are under new management and prices went up due to inflation. I could understand $10 maybe $15. But it would have been nice to know the prices nearly doubled since my last visit (which you can see when they pull your file). Okay so fine. I will pay that but what I notice with the new management they lack the "special" touch they use to have. Like bandanas and cute goody bags they sent you home with (usually a progress report and a dog treat). I paid more and got less special treatment. Not to mention the next day my dogs skin was having a reaction to whatever they used. And I'm my file it stated to use oatmeal or hypoallergenic shampoo which I'm guessing they didn't otherwise her skin wouldn't have been red and flaky. So in all, I went from being a long time happy repeat client to a client who will no longer be returning for multiple reasons. The big one being customer service.
