I always go to Hollywood Feed when I'm in Memphis visiting my sister, who lives a few blocks from the Collins store. I have had many good experiences with one sales associate (I can't recall her name at this time but she has blonde braids and I believe her name starts with an S) who is very knowledgeable and always remembers my dogs allergies when I am buying food. I have actually followed her to the many Hollywood Feed locations in Memphis where she has worked because of the quality service she provides. However, I went to the store the first week of June and while she was helping me find a dog bed, a tall blonde woman who I assume was the manager came over and told her to go do something else. THE MANAGER THEN WALKED AWAY WITHOUT ASKING IF I NEEDED ASSISTANCE. I decided to come back to the store on my next visit to Memphis to see if the girl with the braids was working. When I walked in, I was not greeted and no one asked if I needed help until I went to leave after realizing that girl wasn't working. I was shocked that no one offered assistance until I was halfway out the door! I will NOT be coming back to this store anytime in the near future. read more

Aliyah was an enormous help and guided me with selecting the right food, crate and other things I need to get my puppy off to a right start. When I got my first pup as a little girl, this is the pet store we went to to get all of his food, toys, and other doggie needs. The store definitely doesn't look the same anymore (hello upgrade!) but I'm nostalgic over this store nevertheless. On Friday morning I called the Collins store (before the store opened) with an unusual request for a large order (6 weeks worth) of frozen dog food to take out of town for a long car trip the following morning. Kristin listened to my request, calculated the amount of food we would need and called the other stores to make sure that she could fill the order per my specifications. Delivery to our house Saturday AM (before the store opened) in a cooler that was kept in their deep freeze over night. Put the cooler in the back of our car and off we go! This is just outstanding service. We had worried about 1) trying to gather the food since we needed so much and we figured we would be driving all over town to collect and 2) being able to pack into coolers to keep it cold. Kristin took care of every detail and made it SOOO easy. I wish all service in Midtown were as good as this! read more

My brother worked at Hollywood Pet Star years ago and I've always thought it is one of the best places for pet needs in town. Hollywood offers the very best in pet foods, and their prices are also reasonable. I grew up in a home with three beloved German Shepherds, as well as a cute little Shih Tzu, and eventually a couple of loveable boxers (no, not all at once). I have a rescue Persian who came with, among other things, a container of food. As she was healthy, happy and had delightful poops I wanted to keep her, and possibly integrate my other babies, on the kibble. Problem was I didn't know what it was as it came in a large plastic tub. I took pics of it and asked my Persian Resource Group members for help in identification. I got some suggestions but nothing definite. I was down to 3 days worth of the kibble when I walked into the Collins Avenue Hollywood Feed with a small sample anticipating an extended visit. With barely enough time to take 2 bites of my MemPops Orange and Pistachio popcicle, one of the clerks unscrews the sample lid, sticks her nose in and says the magic words, "Fromm Chicken a la Vege and Salmon Tunachovy". Bless that woman. As soon as we run out of Lexie's Primal freeze-dried raw nuggets, I'll be headed back. read more

They carry the highest quality food and products without an insane price tag. The knowledge of their team is also spot on. They understand and recommend products based on your dog's breed, age, and personality. If your pet tries a product and it doesn't work out, they will switch it out for you. What a great pet store!!! About a year ago, one of my friends told me that they have a dog washing station where they have tubs, shampoo, brushes...basically everything you need to wash your dog NOT in your own home. This Hollywood Feed is located near Overton Bark, so if the park is muddy, I'll drive my dog right over to the Hollywood Feed and give him a bath. The dog washing stations are clean and they have a nice selection of brushes. After the bath, I take my dog right into the store to get a little toy or treat! He walks out of there happy while I walk out of there just happy not to have to clean dog hair out of my bathtub. It's a win-win. This location is also immaculate. Always clean and organized. This Hollywood Feed is fairly large, yet easy to navigate and is not overwhelming. The selection is great if you're looking for some non-main stream, mid-to-high end items for your dog...with a lot of items made in the USA. I'll warn you, this place isn't the cheapest because they don't sell "cheapy stuff", but in return they have some great products at a good value for the money you spend. As far as their prices on food, they are pretty competitive with with the regular pet stores in my opinion. I don't mind one bit going to this Hollywood Feed (or any other location) and spending a few extra dollars on something fun for my dog. Reason? They are huge supporters of the pet community in Memphis! Love Overton Bark. Love that they allow rescue organizations to hold events in their locations. Love that they hand out coupons and other pet supplies at local gatherings. When you have a business that gives back to the community as much as Hollywood Feed, you don't mind spending your money there to support them back! read more

I switched over from All About Pets to Hollywood Feed over about a year ago (due to poor customer service at All About Pets after doing business w/them for over 3 years). Hollywood Feed has been great. I was actually pleased to hear they had bought out All About Pets when they did! I lean towards buying premium pet products (Fromm foods) for my two large dogs so I spend quite a bit on a monthly basis in the pet store. They carry a lot of great supplements also for pets (I get the joint supplements for my dogs there also). The staff is great and very helpful. I never feel rushed. I patronize the S. Germantown Pkwy location the most (the Germantown store) but have also patronized the one in E. Memphis off Poplar. Service was consistent at both locations. read more

This is my favorite Hollywood Feed location. They are friendly, helpful, yet they don't stalk you the entire time so there's a good balance. I love Hollywood Feed and I spend a majority of my spare cash here. I started my dogs on Acana but am now using Fromm bc there are so many flavors and they love it. The staff can help you find the perfect food for your pet as they are always so knowledgeable. I highly recommend the smoked pig snouts. My dogs have an $18/week snout habit haha. read more

Huge fan of HF. Heidi and Sonya are literally the downfall at the Collins location. They have terrible attitudes, they're short with customers (I've witnessed as well as myself, and they don't represent this company well) I walk in and if I see them, I smile and say hello, neither respond but they do look at me as I walk in. I would walk towards them and they would walk away and act as if they were busy. I then would go to Stephanie or Amanda who are always helpful and mention it to them, and the both apologize on the downfalls behalf. Love the place but the two who act as if they hate their job, should look for something where they don't interact with people. I am pet sitting and my friends ran out of dog food. They helped me choose best dog food for my friends dog. ( I know nothing about dogs other than what my friend told me ) He seems to be doing really good with the food. He actually loves it. Smells better than what he was eating before too. Went to the one on Union. I've been there twice now, once to talk to the dog groomer, twice to look at switching my pup's food and get advice on what to switch too. The groomer was very nice and knowledgeable. The price for grooming was way less than I've payed at other places. When asking about what food to try switching to, the staff was very helpful and definitely knew their stuff. I was also informed they have a 100% return policy which is great. So if my pup didn't like her new food, I could return it for a full return. read more

I've been coming here since I was 12.We were the proud owners of two Great Danes. We brought them here on Saturdays for obedience school with Sam. I took my Pit Bull here a few years back when Sam was still here. I've spent a lot time in this store needless to say, lol. This Hollywood Pet has always seemed to hire friendly animal enthusiasts, and there's always someone here to answer a question, no matter how complicated it may seem. The facility is always clean and stocked. I enjoy the products they carry, and how knowledgeable they are about their products. Took one of my dogs to this location for a bath. The "roomiest" Hollywood Feed that I have been to thus far and the best bath locations. This location lost one star though because compared to other ones I have been to (Union and Poplar) the staff was the least helpful when I asked a question. I can't even begin to say how amazing the people at Hollywood Feed are. My boyfriend and I adopted a puppy from the Humane Society and not only did Hollywood Feed give us a 10% off coupon, they gave us a $25 gift card and a free bag of dog food! If you have ever brought a new puppy home then I don't need to tell you how hectic it can be and having that really helped us out! One of the coolest things about the broad location is the bathing area. They have big tubs, shampoo, towels, dryers, pretty much anything you would need to clean up your pooch, for $8! And if you don't feel like doing it yourself they also have a groomer on site. The staff is what really makes this store special. You walk in and they want to know what kind of dog you have, their name, their story, what their favorite Park is... And then they will take you around the entire store explaining anything you need to know. Not once did I feel pressured into buying anything. This particular store is in the neighborhood and one of my favorites. I'm thankful for all the sales associates on Broad and the manager. They're always extremely helpful and patient with customers like me who don't have a clue as to what products a Bulldog needs. At one time my American Bulldog was having seizures, that is, before I changed her diet to a brand suggested by one of the sales associates. And that's just the Midtown store. The store on Broad has a D.I.Y. dog bathing room that is perfect for us - our dogs are too big to bathe at home so this service ($8.99 per dog) is such a benefit. The store provides a variety of shampoos (oatmeal, flea control, puppy), a conditioning rinse, big tubs, dyers, and brushes/combs. Oh yes, and aprons to protect my clothes and towels to dry the pups. If you are switching your pet to a new food, you will walk out of there with gobs of free samples from several companies, with straightforward information about price, nutrition, etc. The frequent buyer card for dog and cat food is much appreciated. I've been using Hollywood Feed for many years. They are able to stock my dog's food, which I haven't been able to find anywhere else in Memphis. I'm only giving them 2 stars because of the experience I had with the groomer at the store on Union. I don't know if she's just in a hurry or what but she butchered my dog's nails. It was a bloody mess. Not much acknowledgement from the staff afterwards either. I hate to give them a bad review, because I think they are a great store, but buyer beware regarding grooming.
