Update: I am pleased with the way Hollywood Feeds' district manager handled my issue. I have no doubt that the main focus of Hollywood is customer service. But there are always a few bad players in any group of people. I would not expect that every single person would act the same. I am currently working with Northwest Naturals on this problem. If you're looking for a one stop shop to spoil your new pet (or old friend) Hollywood Feed is THAT girl. I called & stopped by 3 different groomers after picking up my new rescue that was absolutely filthy before finally being told about Hollywood feed. The groomer was booked (surprise) but they have a self wash for 13.99. Out of options & pretty desperate, i paid for the self wash and got to work at attempting to wash my brand new puppy with ZERO knowledge. Leah was beyond helpful, she was an absolute Godsend. She helped me get my pooch as clean as possible, offering advice and suggestions for me as a first time dog owner. I literally don't think I could've done it without her. Everyone in the store was super friendly & I was able to get all things my new dog needed that I hadn't already purchased in one stop. I love Hollywood Feed. Let me just start by saying that. But I really believe this is their worst location. I have been going here for the past 5 years and I have seen and felt such a tremendous change. I take my dogs to the pet vax next door, so I usually pop in after for a good boy treat for both of them. The last few times I have felt totally unwelcomed and like I was entering an exclusive dog meeting where all the dog parents talk crap about other dog owners. My puppy peed on their floor (he just got done sitting at the vet) and boy did I get the side eye. Nobody said a THING. Customer service 101: "Oh do not worry about it! We will clean it up. Do you need help finding anything?" My other dog can become stressed on a leash. So he likes to bark at other dogs. He's not aggressive at all. The employees looked at me like I just needed to leave. As I was checking out, I gave the employee my phone number... "Oh, you don't buy your dog food from us?" "No, I get mine from Chewy.com. I have a subscription with them." "Oh well, you know those dog foods are terrible for your dog and contain so many preservatives and chemicals." ...I buy a brand that you guys carry. I have consulted with my vet and she completely approves of the food I am feeding my healthy dogs. That's about all the validation I need, thanks. Just let me buy these bones and leave and never return. I will continue to shop at Hollywood Feed because I think it's a wonderful business with amazing products. But I will not be returning to this location. Here are some tips: - Stop pushing customers to buy your dog or cat food. Most vets will say you can find great dog food at the local Kroger or Target. That is THEIR preference. Thank them for continuing to shop for other things at your store. - Be kind to the pet owner with the goofy/rambunctious/loud dog. They are embarrassed and wish their dog would chill out, too. Offer them help and love on their pup. - Be more welcoming and friendly. I have tried this location several times now and today was my last. I bring my dog for a walk-in nail trim and every time I feel so unwelcomed and am treated like an inconvenience. In trying to solve the problem of being an inconvenience, I've asked if I can make an appt for a nail trim and was told it is walk-in only. On each occasion I have been met with rude customer service, huffs and puffs and told to try next door at Pet Vax. There is one thing they have been successful with and that is loosing business. I will not return or recommend this place to anyone. read more

I have a weakness for mom-and-pop shops. Hollywood Feed started out as one store on Broad St and is now a Memphis chain with multiple locations...but thankfully they still have that mom-and-pop feel. Every time I go to their store I am greeted with the most helpful and knowledgeable staff. Definitely different from my experience at Petco. Every time I ask a question at Petco, I get an "I don't know or care" response. Hollywood Feed truly want you to be pleased with your purchases and have the most lenient return policy. Once I discovered them, I vowed to never return to Petco again. Also appealing is their frequent customer program where after so many bags of dog food, you get one free. And the bags are already cheaper than Petco down the street! I love saving money. And they have great toys. The last time I went in an employee was telling me about this new stuffed animal without stuffing. It isn't much to look at it but he was right - my dog is hooked. She walks around with it in her mouth, sleeps with it, gives it to me to throw - the best $7 I've ever spent. I still go to Petco for grooming but I've recently discovered Hollywood Feed has a location that also grooms. I can't wait to check it out! read more

I recently had to swith from All About Pets to Hollywood feed and the transition has as smooth as a transition can go. Before they did not carry the dog food that I purchased from All About Pets but once All About Pets closed their doors they made it available for the customers that shopped at All About Pets. They even gave the All About Pets customers a 20% discout for having to swith pet stores. All of the employees here are always super nice and help me any way they can. On my last visit there they did not have a product that I needed. They then called the store on Union Ave. and they had one, so they asked them to hold the item to make sure it was there when I arrived. If you were an All About Pets customer and are still looking for a pet store, you should give Hollywood feed a chance. read more

I love these guys! They have great product and their customer service is tops. My poor Sausage dog escaped the backyard and got attacked and I went to these guys scared and didn't know what to do, they helped me right away and were awesome. Also I started feeding my dogs Fromm (none of that grocery store dog food anymore) and Shadow and Sausage's fur is soft and they are healthier! I seriously recommend them even if it's a little expensive. Oh and my pups love the Cod skins. That's only a dollar. Thank you guys!! read more

You can find tennis balls, frisbees, leashes, pig's ears, and other chewables, and a whole aisle dedicated to canine fashion -- some pretty cute things, if you're into dressing up your dog. The food sold there is top-quality, such as Wellness and Fromm's, and the prices are reasonable. Fromm, Fromm, Fromm. I don't want to buy Fromm. My cat tried it. My cat doesn't like it. Your employees are fantastic and helpful but none of them have Ph.D's in pet nutrition. I've been to two vets and they both poke fun at how HF pushes the expensive Fromm products. So annoying to feel like a second-class citizen for purchasing Science Diet. Vet recommended. Just because Fromm gets the pets used to it at the humane society does not mean it is ideal for every pet. read more

Oh, I just love this place. We make pretty much weekly visits there. Brittany is the manager of this store and she is awesome. All the people that work here, and all of the stores, are great. They must do SO much training and education because they know their stuff. They can answer pretty much any question you have. I love that they can bring their dogs to work, because I like to visit with their dogs. Of course, you can also bring your leashed dog into the store (use your common sense about whether your dog is suitable for going inside a store with other people and dogs). You can buy dog food, dog chew stuff like pig ears, rawhide, etc., dog toys, dog apparel, leashes, collars...and plenty of cat stuff too. They only have dog and cat stuff, I think. They are SO involved in the animal rescue community. Every store has mobile adoptions on the weekends, and they recently started a new program where you can add a certain donation to a rescue group or shelter to your credit card purchase. If you are used to feeding your dog Ol' Roy or something, you will experience sticker shock. But they will probably tell you that feeding your dog that crap is the equivalent of you eating only Easy Mac or Lucky Charms always forever. The nutrition is nil and you would feel and look terrible. If you love your dog (or cat) and want them to be healthy and live a long time, take their nutrition seriously. The staff can help you pick out the right food at the right price; they have a variety of price points. My hound dog started showing joint stiffness at just 8 months old, so I started giving her fish oil (available at HF) on top of her food. It made a huge difference almost immediately. Then I decided to just skip that step and buy her the food made out of fish, Orijen fish formula or something like that. All my dogs have gorgeous, shiny coats, and no sign of joint issues. I have taken multiple foster dogs here to help socialize them, and the staff knows exactly how to handle it and how to help me show the dog that strangers are awesome and so fun. Anyway, awesome place with great ownership and management. read more

I've always liked this place but since their expansion, I'm committed. I was a "food and treat" customer at first. Since they expanded, they have added a dog wash and a groomer. I have used the pet wash at Petco and it was poorly stocked and cleaned. While I have not yet used the one at Hollywood Feed, I could tell through the window that it was clean and they had a miriad of supplies. I opted this time for a cut and bath for my Brittany and a bath for my Lab. My Brittany is a handfull (to say the least) and she came out with a beautiful short cut. She has only been groomed once before and this was by far a superior cut. The groomer was kind, helpful, and gentle. My Lab came out shiny and smelling so good! I will return and will tell everyone I know about my experience. They have a good thing going here! read more

The inventory at each Hollywood Feed location is different. So if you need a brand of food your usual location carries, but you're closer to another store, call first to make sure they carry it. They do this in order to keep prices as low as possible for the high-quality brands such as Wellness, California Natural and EVO. So the selection may not be as vast as what you'd see at a "big-box" store like PetSmart, but I usually find what my cats need (or don't need, from their wall of toys). Since the Poplar location is closest to my house, I usually shop there, but I've received the same attentive service at every other location I've visited. When I enter the store, I barely make it in the door before an employee asks how he or she can help. The entire staff is knowledgeable about their products and you can tell they're animal lovers. They always go above and beyond, whether by giving me treat samples or helping me carry items to the car. read more

Great products and great customer service! What I love the most about this place is the customer service. They are always there to help and provide suggestions from what type of harness is best for my dog, to what type of food is the best for large breeds. And if your dog doesn't like it, or destroys it's collar or leash, just bring it back for a refund! The self service dog wash is very convenient and only $9.99. Easy walk in tub for very large dogs so you don't have to pick them up, and the tub is elevated so you don't have to bend over while washing your dog. They provide several different types of shampoos, conditioners, and brushes, plenty of towels, a blow dryer and nail clippers. The best part is they do all the clean up! No need to clean up all the dog hair left in the tub! Some things are a bit overpriced but they always have specials or coupons and whatever you or your dog doesn't like you can return. read more

We just moved to Memphis recently and love Hollywood Feed! The staff are always friendly and able to answer our questions. Our bearded collie has a licking problem and our vet advised us to buy a bitter spray. I spoke with someone in the store and they suggested a product they use with their dog and offered a refund or exchange if it didn't work or we wanted to try something else. It's just a level of service that you don't get at a place like Petsmart. And we love their involvement with Overton Bark! read more

I've never had anything but good experiences at any of the Hollywood Feed locations, but today the east Memphis location has won my loyalty! My very large yellow lab, who smells of lake water, and sheds profusely, desperately needed a bath. Only one problem...he's terrified of the metal bathtubs. After a few minutes of begging and pleading with my very large lab, who just lay on the floor shaking with fear, I had a visit from the location manager, Brandon. With a smile on his face, he tried to help me convince my very large lab that the bathtubs really aren't that scary. Realizing that it was NEVER going to happen, Branden took it upon himself to help this 5'2" lady out of a jam. He put my dog in the bathtub for me! And have I mentioned that I have a very large (130lb) lab, because he's enormous. That's all it took for the fear (and the lake smell) to be gone. This Hollywood Feed is simply not up to par with its counterparts. We usually visit the location further down at Poplar and Yates but decided to give this location a try today. There were at least 4 employees in the store when we entered, not a single one greeted us. We went to do a self service bath and had to clean the tub first - it was disgusting. The tubs both were covered in hair, the dirty towels were piled up and overflowing from the basket, and I had to stand in a puddle of water to bathe my dog because they couldn't be bothered to clean the room. I was drying my dog when another customer entered and let her dog jump all over mine. I can look past that as the dog is the customer's responsibility, but what really bothered me was when an employee escorted a third party (3 people and their dog) into the room to bathe their dog standing behind me. Not only is there simply not enough room for 3 dogs in that room, it is a safety hazard to let that many dogs in that small of a space. Not to mention, the employee was telling the customer how to bathe the dog to get rid of the skin alignment. If the dog has a skin issue, it should be seen at a vet to confirm that it isn't contagious before being allowed to visit a pet store, especially when the dog is untrained and allowed to jump on and interact with other pets. We left with our dog still wet because it was too crowded in that room to continue. Overall, very displeased with the cleanliness, the careless attitude, and negligence regarding dog safety of the staff. We definitely will not be returning. read more

Love this store. Very knowledgeable & helpful staff. Love that they carry all natural products that are made in the USA. They know my dog by name when I go in there. And always give him a treat. The bath area makes it very easy to bathe your dog. I have been going to the Broad Ave. store for years. I also go to the Union Ave. store for dehydrated food.
