The booking process was simple from the beginning and they were clear about technical aspects such as payment terms etc. Although we explained it was a secret event and never to use the landline, they unfortunately did - they also didn't seem to take us off their sales list, meaning we got endless calls about having an event, despite already booking with them! Sigh. They redeemed themselves on the night. Based in the Jungle Room, a leopard carpeted treat, we had two lanes to ourselves and a plethora of food and drinks. We had everything from pigs in blankets to deep fried mac & cheese fritters; these aren't your usual canapes, and they're more than happy to lay on a tasting if you're curious as to what you should serve. Staff knew exactly what was in the cocktails, as requested, and bar service ran fairly smoothly - it did get rather busy once all the pre-bought drinks had gone and people flocked to the bar, but they soon got used to it and kept up! They were also very patient; once we've all had a few, it can get a bit rowdy i.e. people thinking it funny to walk on the actual bowling alley, but noone felt put out at any time and they communicated with as frequently. Great place for any event you might be planning.

And even though I lost 3 games to nil I really enjoyed my afternoon in All Star Lanes. This place is pretty great if you're looking for somewhere fun to go where you can have a few games of bowling, some drinks and eats too. I didn't eat here, although I have heard good things about the food, it was a little early in the day and we had booked Reds True BBQ for dinner so I didn't want to eat too much beforehand. The 3 games of bowling I had here with my friend from London were so much fun! I didn't have the barriers up either..! Yey! But still lost. We drank beer and cocktails for hours and had a blast. Pretty sure anyone who comes here with mates is going to have a fab time!

This is a classic Ten Pin Bowling experience. There's nothing here that's going to surprise you,…read morebut at the same time there's nothing you could reasonably hope to find at a tenpin bowling alley, that isn't offered here. The basics include 26 bowling lanes and 14 pool tables including both American and English tables, which I don't even understand. They have a full bar (crucial) and an American style dodgy diner where you can get a burger and some greasy chips, the perfect accompaniment to a game of ten pin. They also offer something called 'Cosmic Bowling' where all the lights go out and the whole room and all the lanes turn luminous blue with disco lights and spotlights flying around. Wooooooooo. It claims to be bowling with a nightclub atmosphere, which it really is not. But if you want to bowl with loud music and flashing lights then by all means give it a go! There's also a Quazar Lazer shooty gun thingymajog, but that's a whole different game isn't it. I'll stick to the bowling.

When a few of us decide to go, we usually end up at this massive Ten Pin in Didsbury's Parrs Wood complex, mainly because you can get a really good deal if you book ahead online. As you bowl on one of the alley's many lanes, you can have a shimmy to the weird 90s pop videos that play on the screens above. You can also give yourself a bit of Dutch courage by visiting the bar, which offers 4-pint pitchers of Strongbow and Carling. Be warned though, too much will make poor bowling skills even ropier!

It's clean, the staff are nice and there are plenty of lanes - a few on the ground level and plenty more upstairs. Unfortunately, though there are lanes on the ground floor, there are a few steps leading down to them from bar seating area, making it difficult to access for people in wheelchairs - Doncaster or Castleford are better for disabled access. The superbowl's got a little bar and a cafe (a wimpy I think) as well as a few video games. It's not in central Wakefield but it's only about 15 minutes walk, there's a bus that goes right past, and it's got its own carpark.I'd recommend going on one of the party, where you get all night bowling with a DJ on and a free basket meal for about £12. Cheesy, but fun.

Prices are cheaper than the Hollywood Bowl chain and the facilities are good, with video screens, neon night bowling and decent music played in. The only downside is the food..it has a Wimpy..who has a Wimpy any more? Wimpy burgers are strange and soft and I'm scared of them. So eat before you go. Other than that, a great night out for all the family with free parking. Maybe not Superbowl but certainly Fun.

I was pleased with the service at megabowl, as because I have large feet, I often expect to be disappointed when i get there, but nevertheless, they did have bowling shoes in a size 15! Overall, megabowl is a very relaxed, and fun place for all the family. And for the ones of you who want to stay late, it much cheaper if you go after 10 as you often get free games.

Basically, what happens is you go in and after a brief training video your fitted with a plastic shield and given a 'laser' gun. (don't worry it's totally harmless!) and then you go into a darkened room (don't wear white as they're are lots of ultra violet lights which add to the atmosphere). you're separated into 2 teams and given a base to guard, the idea is that each team attack the other base and score points which are all recorded and the score is given out to you at the end. You can also shoot each others which renders you unable to fire your gun for a few seconds and scores points for the other team. Not so good for little kids, but great for teenagers and I've seen quite a few stag parties have a go! Back to the bowling - it's tenpin and you can chose to go it alone or have bumpers, there's also the use of cradles for the less able bodied folks and little kids. They have a fully licenced bar aswell, and you can order food and drink to be delivered straight to your bowling lane! easy!

As you can imagine my confusion being a place called "Dog Bowl" and advertising as a dog friendly bowling venue, we couldn't understand why we where asked to stop just because he barked a few times, we wasted a fortune on travel, drinks and the arcade and didn't even get to do what we came for. The manager, logan who to be fair was polite enough offered us some complimentary arcade tokens which, while a nice gesture was pointless as we already spent £17 on them and give them to someone else, it was my dogs birthday too and gutted. Further to this, I emailed in expressing the issue with no response, I finally managed to get through to someone on the phone who said a manager will email/call within the next two hours, ~24 hours later I've still heard nothing nor has my refund etc gone through. I will be escalating this further and have the company reported officially.

Drinks aren't included and seem to be from a soda fountain, of which I heartily disapprove (especially at £2 each...come on. At least have free refills). Overall good for a change and probably one of the best/cheapest options for a sit down lunch in the area.

Macclesfield Super Bowl. Total rip off…read more Pre-booked a large group for Laserquest. Parked in their car park. Entered car number in their computer on entry as they tell you so they know you are legitimately parked in their car park. Followed the clear instructions to the letter to show we were paying customers. Went to the Laserquest. Told safety video was broken so given verbal briefing. No big deal but sign of things to come. The laser-quest was a complete farce. Batteries to 8 of the guns we were given were flat. Staff were embarrassed and explained "The manager has told us not to charge the batteries every night to save electric. We now only charge them every two days and this keeps happening. Sorry it's policy and we can't do anything about it". What a joke, surely this can't be a genuine policy, if it is the policy is incredible, if not staff are incompetent and don't check equipment, either way, very poor show. Eventually got our game but lost time due to their faulty guns. Afterward ate in the cafe. RidIculous prices for poor quality fast food. Left very disappointed. Now a pleasant experience in any way. A few days later got an "invoice" for parking in their car park. Went through the deliberately difficult process of appealing the invoice including sending timed receipts proving we were their legitimately. Appeal refused with no reason given why. Called Super Bowl, manager Liz said they are aware of the problem but "Head Office won't do anything about it and we can't help". We aren't the only ones challenging this scam. Please read this press article www.cheshire-live.co.uk/news/parking-changes Solution; 1) We won't ever go back to Macclesfield Super Bowl. 2) We won't be paying the invoice. 3) If they keep sending threatening letters I will if it's them until we get a Court summons. I will then goo to Court and when they lose the case I will claim all my costs against them. 4) I will post this honest feedback so others learn from our experience (I wish I had read reviews on TripAdvisor before our visit, we are not alone in our experience.)
