The booking process was simple from the beginning and they were clear about technical aspects such as payment terms etc. Although we explained it was a secret event and never to use the landline, they unfortunately did - they also didn't seem to take us off their sales list, meaning we got endless calls about having an event, despite already booking with them! Sigh. They redeemed themselves on the night. Based in the Jungle Room, a leopard carpeted treat, we had two lanes to ourselves and a plethora of food and drinks. We had everything from pigs in blankets to deep fried mac & cheese fritters; these aren't your usual canapes, and they're more than happy to lay on a tasting if you're curious as to what you should serve. Staff knew exactly what was in the cocktails, as requested, and bar service ran fairly smoothly - it did get rather busy once all the pre-bought drinks had gone and people flocked to the bar, but they soon got used to it and kept up! They were also very patient; once we've all had a few, it can get a bit rowdy i.e. people thinking it funny to walk on the actual bowling alley, but noone felt put out at any time and they communicated with as frequently. Great place for any event you might be planning.

And even though I lost 3 games to nil I really enjoyed my afternoon in All Star Lanes. This place is pretty great if you're looking for somewhere fun to go where you can have a few games of bowling, some drinks and eats too. I didn't eat here, although I have heard good things about the food, it was a little early in the day and we had booked Reds True BBQ for dinner so I didn't want to eat too much beforehand. The 3 games of bowling I had here with my friend from London were so much fun! I didn't have the barriers up either..! Yey! But still lost. We drank beer and cocktails for hours and had a blast. Pretty sure anyone who comes here with mates is going to have a fab time!

As it was the summer holidays, I called them the day before to book a lane. For one adult and three under 12s to play one game it came to £21 (£5 per child). For two games this increases to £10 per adult and £8 per child. I love those kids dearly but they were getting only one game! I made the mistake of getting us there early - cue the tsunami of pester power for pound coins for the arcade machines. No matter how many times I tried to explain that those 'claw machines' and coin pusher games never let you win, I saw my cash disappear faster than greased lightning. Rookie error. Be warned. With our shoes exchanged at the counter, it was time to bowl. You have to input the bowlers' names yourself, which wasn't too daunting. All of the bowling balls had definitely seen better days (I'm not sure how often these get replaced, but some practically had divots in them). At one point our lane, and only our lane, broke down, but the staff sorted it after a few minutes. The kids absolutely loved it here, and why wouldn't they (they've requested Laser Quest next time, which is on the first floor - the price structure for this is the same as for bowling). For me it just felt like the grown-ups were just being rinsed of cash for a business that didn't seem bothered about investing in half-decent equipment.

It's clean, the staff are nice and there are plenty of lanes - a few on the ground level and plenty more upstairs. Unfortunately, though there are lanes on the ground floor, there are a few steps leading down to them from bar seating area, making it difficult to access for people in wheelchairs - Doncaster or Castleford are better for disabled access. The superbowl's got a little bar and a cafe (a wimpy I think) as well as a few video games. It's not in central Wakefield but it's only about 15 minutes walk, there's a bus that goes right past, and it's got its own carpark.I'd recommend going on one of the party, where you get all night bowling with a DJ on and a free basket meal for about £12. Cheesy, but fun.

Prices are cheaper than the Hollywood Bowl chain and the facilities are good, with video screens, neon night bowling and decent music played in. The only downside is the food..it has a Wimpy..who has a Wimpy any more? Wimpy burgers are strange and soft and I'm scared of them. So eat before you go. Other than that, a great night out for all the family with free parking. Maybe not Superbowl but certainly Fun.

This is a classic Ten Pin Bowling experience. There's nothing here that's going to surprise you,…read morebut at the same time there's nothing you could reasonably hope to find at a tenpin bowling alley, that isn't offered here. The basics include 26 bowling lanes and 14 pool tables including both American and English tables, which I don't even understand. They have a full bar (crucial) and an American style dodgy diner where you can get a burger and some greasy chips, the perfect accompaniment to a game of ten pin. They also offer something called 'Cosmic Bowling' where all the lights go out and the whole room and all the lanes turn luminous blue with disco lights and spotlights flying around. Wooooooooo. It claims to be bowling with a nightclub atmosphere, which it really is not. But if you want to bowl with loud music and flashing lights then by all means give it a go! There's also a Quazar Lazer shooty gun thingymajog, but that's a whole different game isn't it. I'll stick to the bowling.

When a few of us decide to go, we usually end up at this massive Ten Pin in Didsbury's Parrs Wood complex, mainly because you can get a really good deal if you book ahead online. As you bowl on one of the alley's many lanes, you can have a shimmy to the weird 90s pop videos that play on the screens above. You can also give yourself a bit of Dutch courage by visiting the bar, which offers 4-pint pitchers of Strongbow and Carling. Be warned though, too much will make poor bowling skills even ropier!
