I really liked Dog Bowl. I met some old work colleagues here for some eats, drinks and of course a few games of bowling - and it was loads of fun. I hadn't any high expectations when it came to the food but I ordered a burger and fries and it was really really good. It was freshly cooked and the bacon and cheese that accompanied it were great - and served with a mixture of normal fries and sweet potato fries. It isn't the best burger place in town but was definitely better than I imagined. The game of bowling was so much fun!! A game costs you around £8 each and if you haven't played for a while, or you have a riduculous competitive nature like I do, I'm pretty sure you'd like it here!

Really surprised no one has reviewed Dog Bowl yet! Been in here a few times for bowling, which is great and they do a couple of nice cocktails. Just came in for food this time though and I was kind of unsure - why I've just given it 3 stars this time. I went for two smaller plates - nachos & pulled pork tacos. I LOVE Mexican food and there's slowly starting to be more Mexican restaurants cropping up around manchester which I'm really excited about. But, I thought Dog Bowl's tacos just weren't good enough! They were too dry and just with a bit of a boring salad on - really lacking the delicious guacamole which was on the nachos!! The nachos were great though, and the staff always seem really relaxed and friendly. So overall a good experience and won't stop me coming back!

Dog Bowl is one of the Black Dog Ballroom chain restaurants. It is located Withworth Street West, under one of the bridge arches. Its modern decor inside with benches and tables seating plans. It also includes the bowling lanes as other blakc dog ballrooms. It provices the American Food including Barceque grilled steaks, fried chicken etc. I went for a late lunch. The service was OK but waited for a long time to order food. There is only one waitress and she seems very busy and distracted. The food was actually decent, and really cheap. Compared to another places within similar price range, Dog Bowl won over its nice seating environment.

I went to this place for bowling with friends. We were in Lane 4. The quality of the bowling lane was not that great. I was the last person in my friend group of 4 ppl to bowl. The machine didn't count my score when I scored 8 points & marked fail instead. It happened again later on, so I finished last in my group because of the error. It was a bit frustrating as it only happened to me not my friends. The only good thing is probably for students it's half price 4 pounds each instead of 8 for others.

I had some friends over from Sheffield and due to us not being able to get a table at Gorilla next door we decided to try the Dog Bowl, We just wanted somewhere to relax and have a few drinks. We managed to get ourselves a booth. They also serve Samuel Adams on tap which is my favourite beer! It was pretty busy when we arrived and if you can get over the loud noise of the bowling its a cool place to hang out, Its very trendy and i love the design of the place with it being based in the railway arches. The lighting is also very cool!! I would like to return to bowl here sometime and to try out the food menu as the burgers looked great!!

I attended a wedding reception here and it was excellent! The bowling was brilliant fun even for someone as useless as me (gutterballed all evening!) The food was lovely (oh my word the nachos) and cocktails even better, I recommend the Haribo sling!

Works night out in dog bowl!

I like the dimmed lighting and the fact it's in the railway arches.

The booking process was simple from the beginning and they were clear about technical aspects such as payment terms etc. Although we explained it was a secret event and never to use the landline, they unfortunately did - they also didn't seem to take us off their sales list, meaning we got endless calls about having an event, despite already booking with them! Sigh. They redeemed themselves on the night. Based in the Jungle Room, a leopard carpeted treat, we had two lanes to ourselves and a plethora of food and drinks. We had everything from pigs in blankets to deep fried mac & cheese fritters; these aren't your usual canapes, and they're more than happy to lay on a tasting if you're curious as to what you should serve. Staff knew exactly what was in the cocktails, as requested, and bar service ran fairly smoothly - it did get rather busy once all the pre-bought drinks had gone and people flocked to the bar, but they soon got used to it and kept up! They were also very patient; once we've all had a few, it can get a bit rowdy i.e. people thinking it funny to walk on the actual bowling alley, but noone felt put out at any time and they communicated with as frequently. Great place for any event you might be planning.

I've always loved bowling, even though I suck at it (I blame my weak wrists, not the technique -…read moreha!) And even though I lost 3 games to nil I really enjoyed my afternoon in All Star Lanes. This place is pretty great if you're looking for somewhere fun to go where you can have a few games of bowling, some drinks and eats too. I didn't eat here, although I have heard good things about the food, it was a little early in the day and we had booked Reds True BBQ for dinner so I didn't want to eat too much beforehand. The 3 games of bowling I had here with my friend from London were so much fun! I didn't have the barriers up either..! Yey! But still lost. We drank beer and cocktails for hours and had a blast. Pretty sure anyone who comes here with mates is going to have a fab time!

It is pretty easy to get to, even though it isn't central to anything really with a tram stop "East Didsbury" across the way and a Tesco close by. Unlike most similar centres, I was surprised there weren't many big-name quick-fast food restaurants including the likes of Subway, McDonald's and KFC which would have been handy, but the construction of this place isn't that great anyway as it is quite a good walk from the car park to the complex where the cinema and eateries are. Parrs Wood is summed up by "Meh, I've experienced better", it isn't new anymore as it was built as I recall in around 2011/2012 and is now so generic, lacking innovation and anything which makes this stand out from the crowd. 2*

This is a classic Ten Pin Bowling experience. There's nothing here that's going to surprise you,…read morebut at the same time there's nothing you could reasonably hope to find at a tenpin bowling alley, that isn't offered here. The basics include 26 bowling lanes and 14 pool tables including both American and English tables, which I don't even understand. They have a full bar (crucial) and an American style dodgy diner where you can get a burger and some greasy chips, the perfect accompaniment to a game of ten pin. They also offer something called 'Cosmic Bowling' where all the lights go out and the whole room and all the lanes turn luminous blue with disco lights and spotlights flying around. Wooooooooo. It claims to be bowling with a nightclub atmosphere, which it really is not. But if you want to bowl with loud music and flashing lights then by all means give it a go! There's also a Quazar Lazer shooty gun thingymajog, but that's a whole different game isn't it. I'll stick to the bowling.

When a few of us decide to go, we usually end up at this massive Ten Pin in Didsbury's Parrs Wood complex, mainly because you can get a really good deal if you book ahead online. As you bowl on one of the alley's many lanes, you can have a shimmy to the weird 90s pop videos that play on the screens above. You can also give yourself a bit of Dutch courage by visiting the bar, which offers 4-pint pitchers of Strongbow and Carling. Be warned though, too much will make poor bowling skills even ropier!
