3.5/5 Nothing to…read morecomplain about here, it's a mall! This one is trying to stay relevant and isn't completely empty like some others in the metro. Some shops are empty and others are being remodeled and opening again. I visited on a Friday (Valentine's Day) and it was pretty steady but not packed, I could find a place to sit down and relax by myself if I wanted to (and I did!) Shop selection is meh, I went into a few but didn't find anything to purchase which is just fine by me - I needed a place to hang out that was warm and this was it! Bubble tea, Caribou and smoothies to choose from - I didn't see a food court but I wasn't particularly looking.

There's only a handful of store I really shop at here but I'm sure overall there's something for everyone. I feel like Ridgedale has been one of the consistent malls (as far as growing up in MN and seeing a lot of malls struggle to keep stores) that never felt like it was closing. I do wish they would decorate more especially for the holidays. They have the Santa pop up in the middle of the mall which is cute but that's its own experience. Also a somewhat better food court would be cool, but there are a ton of options for food outside of the mall/in the area. They do host cool events from time to time like the traveling Hello Kitty Cafe, which is cool.

Oh Riverdale - I have such a love hate relationship with you…read more Here is the Love: So many lovely stores. Everything you could possibly want and then some. Plenty of restaurants to fill the belly with delicious bites or drinks, pre or post shopping noms are never far away. They have department stores like Kohl's and DSW and Ulta along with little stores like Game Stop and Kay's Jewelers and Party City. Here is the Hate: Its always busy, always, so don't be afraid to just park far away and walk to the stores. A little walking never hurt anyone any way. Also, the roads are such a hot mess, its almost like they intentionally curved them around and made them go seemingly nowhere but directly to another store. In fact, now that I write that, it is probably exactly what they did! Sneaky little buggers. If you don't frequent the area you will likely get turned around/lost trying to get to any particular store from another. My best advice, find a main road and then find the store you want. Even the signs are deceiving. Coon Rapids is a great location for an open-air mall such as this, just off Highway 10 and Round Lake Blvd. Its a stones throw from Highway 169, 610, 252, all the major highways in the north. There is also the Northstar Corridor Light Rail stop that goes directly to downtown Minneapolis. Overall, while I don't really enjoy the commotion of actually going to Riverdale, the stores they offer and the services they provide are worth the stress of the roads and business. I just don't go there every week.

Open air concept but most of the buildings are not within walking distance of each other which…read moremeans you are more likely to go to a single store or two instead of a long day of shopping. We tend to go to the same stores instead of the browsing shopping encouraged by Arbor Lakes.

She created this market to help artists and artisans, and to collect toy donations (as well as household goods and non-perishable food items for humans and pets) for STEP (the St. Louis Park Emergency Program). It's the annual event's first year in this space, and according to the website, the Market will be going on AT LEAST through December 27, 2023, Tuesday-Sunday from 11:00am-5pm. We parked in the ramp across the street and had no trouble finding this space. It was well lit and clearly identified. The space inside is also well lit, and there's plenty of room to move around in. There's a central counter where you bring the items you wish to purchase to pay for them. For the event that day, a donation to STEP earned you a ticket for a free slice of Muddy Paws Cheesecake. They had on offer about a dozen different flavors that evening, "New York" being one, and it's my absolute favorite, both in texture and flavor. My companion chose a slice of the Salted Caramel, which is equally delicious, but in a different way. For environmental reasons, I was so pleased to see the slices being served in paper board boxes, instead of the previous clear hard-plastic clam shells. There's a large section displaying the clothing pieces designed by St. Paulite, Laura Hlavac. Also available are jewelry made by various artisans, artisan pieces made from things such as snow skis, hockey sticks, hockey pucks, metal piping, golf balls, leather scraps and antique flour sacks, quirky greeting cards, handmade holiday ornaments, soaps, candles, lotions & potions, unique clothing pieces, and hats. In addition, you'll find a large selection of locally-designed puzzles. So many different things to see! And if you find yourself becoming a bit "hangry", buy yourself a slice of Muddy Paws Cheesecake and a bottle of water (or a cup of coffee if they're offering it) and set yourself down for a little while on one of the kids' chairs and relax, and enjoy your slice of delight. Or buy a slice (or an entire cheesecake) on your way out to enjoy later on at home!
