The natural conversation turned to clothing, and Larry really was great. I had never heard of the Calder Caramel shirts and he spent time to educate me about the best colors for my skin type, the brand, etc. The shirts are not cheap, but neither am I, but still I decided to wait. He was not only accepting of that, but almost encouraging of it. But after leaving I turned around and went back in to buy the shirt. He had just closed the store, but opened the door and let me in to buy the shirt. He repeated if I have any troubles with it then do not hesitate to return it. I love the shirt, the service this store offers, and mostly the genuine and personable nature of these good folks. I will be back for more!

Larry is the best asset of this business with almost 5 decades to his credit at the same location (46yrs to be exact) I've been shopping here for some of the momentous occasions in my life and the outfits, tailoring and quality are impressive. Currently I'm getting a wedding suit made through them (with a Co. in Montreal, CN) and it's been exciting. A must call on Larry !

Went at 10:30am on a Monday and it was surprisingly busy. Everyone is coming to check it out. Store employees were super nice. Moderate size store with good selection, but some racks were empty or needed to be refreshed. I don't know if that's because they are short-handed (which they are), or because they haven't had a chance to get to things with the crazy crowds they've had. Either way, I found some items to buy, and will definitely come back.

I had to purchase a pair of dress shoes, and I specifically asked the salesperson when I told her that they were a little tight, but was assured that they would loosen up upon wear and if they didn't, that I could return them. I thought, "that's why I love Nordstrom's." Fast forward two hours, and I had a huge blister on the inside of my big toe. I had to remove the shoes and switch into tennis shoes, which did not match my suit at all. But, I knew I could return the shoes, so I was OK with that. I took the shoes back and was told by a sales clerk and by the manager, "Finn," that I could not return the shoes because they had been worn outside. I explained to her that I specifically asked that when I purchased them earlier and was assured that I could. She said that didn't matter because there were scuffs on the sole of the shoe. I said I would take store credit and she said "aren't you listening, I said we could not take them back." I would avoid this Nordstrom's rack, find another or better yet, just skip them altogether - they are not what they used to be, they do not stand behind their products, and they do not stand behind their word.

We were interested in a Calvin Klein tuxedo. There were a surprising number of options given that this is a rental tuxedo. We were happy to hear that the rental was for a week. We found out that if you come a couple of days prior to the event, they can make small adjustments to the sleeves and pants of the tuxedo within a few minutes. If the fit is really off, the company will send a replacement that day if it is before 2 PM and the next day after that. The tuxedo can be shipped to any Men's Wearhouse so you might not have to check it into a plane if you are there a few days ahead. The return can be done at any Men's Wearhouse. They are open on Sundays until 6 PM. They rent the whole package. Shoes are included in the price. We did see a man trying on his rental tux and he and the tux looked good.

However, when a sales associate finally approached us, the interaction was uncomfortable from the start. He avoided making eye contact with my fiancé almost entirely and directed nearly all communication to me, despite my fiancé being the one shopping. My fiancé is Mexican, and the difference in how we were treated was noticeable and deeply disappointing. When we asked about a shirt color that wasn't in stock, instead of offering alternatives or helping with the many other items we were ready to buy, he quickly told us to go to a "sister store" down the road. There was no effort to assist or engage. The photos we showed had the shoes, belt, and pants we were looking for. He was dismissive on even helping him get pants. What stood out most was not just poor service, but the clear feeling that my fiancé was not being treated with the same respect or attention. As his future wife, it was upsetting to witness someone I love be dismissed in front of me. We did visit the other location, where the associate was kind and professional, which only highlighted how unacceptable our initial experience was. Bias -- whether intentional or not -- has a real impact. People deserve equal respect when they walk into a business, especially during important life moments like preparing for a wedding. I hope management takes this seriously.

Well, I'll be honest... Nordstrom and their clothing for men doesn't exactly hit the mark for me. I…read moremean it almost does but not quite as far as men's clothes go. I am most certainly a clothes horse and have a variety of styles from punk, goth, retro kitsch, rock star look, brewery shirts to even a skater types of clothes. I even have stuff that doesn't fit into any of that and I just had a weakness for it at the time. One would think I'd succumb to many shopping sprees for clothes frequently with not much of a stringent process on what to buy but having a large wardrobe has actually made me very picky about what I buy... depending on the store of course. Being a mall walker especially during the winter months sends me through Nordstrom's at the Tacoma Mall quite often and my eye often wonders as I pass through the men's section but so far I'm still a tough sale. I have purchased items from here in the past but it is infrequent and what I purchased was from their underwear section for men. I have bought a few briefs here that are very well made and have fun patterns to them that I have been pleased with. A lot more interesting than the Hanes tightie whities. This is a part of my particular and stringent process with clothing as to have good underwear. But the selection here changes as one would expect and while finding a couple magnificent briefs here my last walk through in this section had mainly boxers and boxer briefs which isn't exactly my preference. And that was about all they had was this type so I didn't pursue browsing any further. Another Yelper wrote a review that item selection at this Nordstrom's isn't as good as some of their other locations and while I cannot confirm this it wouldn't be surprising as many of the retail stores in the general area I live in are considered smaller model stores which also means less of a selection. One thing I love with this location and maybe each location has a different look but around Christmas time they put up beautiful decoration displays and I always got to take some pictures to enjoy and post to Instagram. This past holiday season they had a great big and impressive menorah as well. There is a coffee shop near the mall entrance that is I believe a part of Nordstrom's. They have their own Yelp entry but unfortunately I am not too impressed with their pastries or coffee but that is a whole other layer of pickiness aside from the clothing shopper in me.

Guess I was chump change. Either way it's not the Nordstrom I remember from the 80s, 90s or even 2000s. Sad, their training must have really fallen off. Nordstrom used to be the gold standard of retail. Those days are gone. What happened to "The Customer is number 1 " ?
