Double Cheese Burgers with curly Q

If you see a blue building yes you're in the right spot. Park along the street if the spot in front of the building is occupied. Great customer service. Yes the Mac n cheese is banging. Curly Qs with the sweet and tangy sauce is delicious. Now the ribs with the sweet and tangy gonna put you to sleep. A slab can fed 3 people with some left over. The burgers are huge and really good! My 7 year old new favorite spot.

Service was a 5. Everyone was nice. No dining area. Order at the window and wait. Rib sandwich was very good. A tad dry but seasoned and smoked very well. Hamburger was good. Mac and cheese was different but good. Tasted a little like it was a seafood Mac and cheese. Fruit punch was wayyyyy to sweet. I'll be back.

So this place is for when you are trying to find a fix from like a "hole in the wall" place. Of course those are the type of places you find the best grub. I ordered the chicken wing plate this time. That consists of 5 whole wings fried with your choice of BBQ to any other type of wing sauce you can think ofm I usually choose sweet and tangy (golden BBQ sauce). The plate comes with curly qs, a roll, and a drink about 16oz all $10+tax. Its a pretty sweet deal. Otherwise you may shell out some serious cash if you try purchasing wings individually and adding fries, drink etc. the food is always fresh. Shower er I was disappointed in the curly qs this time. They seem like the bottom scraps of the bag or something. The fruit punch wasn't a hit this time either. It seemed watered down. Not sure if ice was placed in my cup early on or if the punch just didn't have the usual zing to it. Either way if you want traditional fried chicken on the go, this is your spot. There is limited parking. The building is only for staff and there's a window to place your order. I know I'll be back, it's a staple for natives lol

The ribs are perfection here. It is take away only, no seating. We get the rib sandwich and the bbq chicken sandwich when we get take away from here. A wonderful hole in the wall bbq joint.

I love Holley's. They are a city staple and they're consistently delicious. I highly recommend it. I order several times a month. Writing this review makes me want to get some tomorrow. Lol

Incredible spot. Continuously operating since the 1930s, Holley's offers history, a welcoming staff, and great food. I had the rib platter, sweet potato pie, and a strawberry soda. Ribs were delicious. Curly qs come with the platter - I'm told Holley's stakes a claim as originator of the curly fry. Eat well and tip your server!!

Ribs and chicken... Seasoned and oh so good! Crispy but still tender (I put the sauce on)

A 5-Star review... I know, I know. But continue to read and you'll know as well. Holley's is a place that I wouldn't normally go to because it's not on the side of town that I'm usually on, but after watching my co/friends Snapchat I knew I had to try it. Parking is limited, but the wait is short. I was greeted by a man around the same age as me whose customer service was A1! Everything was fresh and hot out of the BBQ grill/smoker, he made a recommendation for me and I ordered it. The ribs and chicken are seasoned before they hit the grill! Y'all don't know how many times I've been to a BBQ joint and they just slap sauce on the meat after its off the grill but show it no love before! Holley's is known more for their fried chicken and curly fries but in my opinion their meat was better than anything I had at Jerome Browns or Jenkins! Oh, and their customer service is better too. I'm definitely going back to try some items that other ppl suggested. Oh, and I gave Holley's 5 stars because I didn't expect their customer service to be amazing like it was... Oh and of course the food played a big role in this rating as well! Ps; I'm nibbling on a piece of rib as I write this review and I must say... The leftovers taste better! Happy Yelping...

We came in on a Wednesday evening. We asked about the menu and were told at the counter that it was Wing Wednesday and the wings were $1 each. Well how could we not add those onto our order. We ordered a Burnt Ends platter with mac and cheese, and corn nuggets, a Brisket Platter with corn nuggets and beans. We also ordered a large mac for my son and a side of lean brisket. For the wings we ordered the Cajun ranch. Our food started coming out in about 5 minutes. Firstly, I was shocked at the wings. I love wings, but they aren't something I usually order often as I find them just OK. There are only a couple places that I visit specifically for wings. Well, let me tell you, I would make a visit back just for these wings. OMG, the Cajun ranch was simply amazing, really addictive. They were my favorite item. We devoured them. The burnt ends were very good. I appreciate they are big chunks of brisket with no pull pork filler. The flavor was amazing as well and the bits of fat melted in our mouth. The corn nuggets were fine and the Mac N Cheese was quite tasty. We enjoyed the meal so much, were were trying to figure out somewhere for a family lunch the next Sunday and came back again. This time my sister, son and I brought my dad. We of course ordered more wings and burnt ends and brisket with lots of Mac N Cheese. The food really is something special. The wings are absolutely wonderful and the burnt ends are a hit. This is definitely one of my new favorite restaurants and will always be on my list of visits to enjoy when I come back to Jax.

The service was steady and I came in around 5ish so it didn't pick up til after I arrived. The staff were nice and polite. It was quiet but had several tables occupied. The chicken was moist and dipped with the spicy bbq enhanced the flavor. All sides were seasoned well especially the green beans and collard greens. Cornbread was good, just note it does have jalapeños. I would say the only feedback was the brisket appeared to be more lean than moist. When we ordered the moist brisket a few weeks ago, it was a lot more marbled, looser and fattier than what we received in this order which was less marbled with leaner cuts. So it appears the staff may had gave the lean than the moist cut... Other than that, everything was good, but perhaps the staff could have additional guidance in brisket cut differences.

Now, I'm no connoisseur, I am not from an elite BBQ region and I know that Jacksonville is not a BBQ go to area. But that said, I tried a few places in the region and 4 Rivers is the only spot I'd repeat visit. Service is friendly and prompt, and they were helpful with putting me on their best items. The brisket was moist, tender and flavorful. The ribs? To die for. Best I've had in Florida. The burnt ends are a combination of brisket and pork, which compliments one another nicely. I loved the beans! The corn was the only thing I found lacking, tasted too much like canned corn for my taste. Their nice seating area is big and welcoming and they have numerous sauces for you. We really enjoyed the blueberry bbq over by the fountain drinks. It went well with the ribs! Overall, must visit for Jax! Thanks guys! See you soon!

The food is outstanding, the drinks are great, and the service is always quick, friendly, and attentive. We started with the Fritos Pie and added pulled pork--such a great decision! It made an already delicious appetizer even better. For our entrée, we shared the Texas "Trinity" (the "give me all the meats" option), which comes with ribs, sausage, and brisket. The ribs were unbelievable--fall-off-the-bone tender, juicy, and perfectly seasoned. The sausage comes in two varieties: regular and cheddar jalapeño. The cheddar jalapeño has a nice kick without being overpowering and was absolutely worth trying. On this visit, we upgraded our sides to two fresh salads, but during our first visit we had the baked beans and coleslaw, and they were both fantastic. Honestly, everything we've tried has been delicious. If you're spending the day at Neptune Beach and need a break from seafood, ABBQ is a must-visit. I keep trying to give them another chance, so when they invited me to make a reservation for the World Cup game tonight, I took the bait. I should have gone to Mojo's or Strings instead! I stopped ordering a brisket sandwich long ago because the buns were always hard and stale. Lately, I've been going with the two meat plate because the sides are usually very good, especially the potato salad and cowboy baked beans. The turkey is usually pretty good as are the ribs, but the brisket is always pathetic, especially for a guy from Texas looking for perfection. To be fair to the management, the bar and atmosphere never fails to impress me, but when I am missing good old fashioned Texas barbecue brisket, I will be going somewhere else that knows what they are doing. Come on y'all... My summary: over rated, over priced, and over done. Low and slow is the barbecue brisket mantra, but the pit master needs to go back to Texas for a refresher course in Austin, in my humble opinion!!!

My family, the six of us, most who live very close, my wife and I, visiting from CA, made our usual visit to Woodpecker's during an "around Florida" vacation. We visited many spots of my youth between Jax & St. Petersburg while dining at old favorites and several BBQ joints along the way. Without a doubt, Woodpecker's Backyard Barbecue was the best by far. The last time we were there, the turkey stole a show as it was the best turkey I have ever eaten in a barbecue restaurant. This time the brisket was the number one meat, equalling or bypassing any I have had anywhere, even in the many Texas joints we have tried. It was right up there with Franklin's and other top Texas offerings. All of their meats were extremely good. Their sides are very interesting as well as good tasting utilizing a lot of dátil pepper to flavor several and add a little bite of spice. My only wish is that it was closer than the 2547 miles away that it is. If you are anywhere near woodpecker's backyard, barbecue, go. Go. Go. You will not regret it.
