One of the things I've noticed over the years, having purchased numerous high end bikes, is the similarity of of bike shops to car dealerships. While you're shopping/purchasing a new bike, the dealership is all about customer service but once you've made the purchase the dealership - be it bike shop or car dealership - basically no longer have a need for you. Holland Bicycles is a notable exception to this rule. Everyone I've dealt with post purchasing a bike has been excellent and helpful. Two guys, especially, have been super professional/helpful are Tyler (who built my bike) and BoJack. Can't tell you how much I appreciate those two for all the help and expertise. One other big plus I want to add: I assumed Holland Bicycles was kind of a tourist bike shop that basically sells to the cruiser crowd but I learned they have people there that are into the high end performance bikes both road and track. Just a great all-around shop with top, top professionals. read more

Holland's is essential to well being, health, fitnesd and family connections. Renting bikes and riding along the bay or beach outdoors has kept families sane. Seriously. I rent here once a week. My daughter and I rent bikes, get a basket, and roll. I'll bring my wireless speaker and we be getting it on. Helmets are provided and required for young ones or older folk that may have imbalance. Single bikes and (4-6 seater) surrey's are plentiful. All equipment is sanitized. I believe the bikes are well maintained. We aren't doing wheelies though. The bike bells do work and I will suggest you use them to forwarn people ahead of you on the bike paths. You can rent from 15 minutes to 24 hours. Reservations are not required. Typically the hours are sun up to sunset not necessarily until pitch dark. I did not notice electric bikes but it does not mean they don't exist. Prices are totally reasonable even for families who may be on the budget. read more

I've had bikes before as a kid. I recently was searching for my first real bike as an adult. I found the Trek bikes fit my billing with the price and quality behind it. The Marlin 4 model was a hard one to find in my size but Holland's Bicycles was the only shop I could find that had the model locally. I messaged them through the Locally app and scheduled a pick up the next day. I was told they needed to put it together but it would be ready at opening. Sure enough I showed up and it was there ready to go. Paid for the bike and got a quick sizing for the seating and was out of there in minutes. Definitely glad I found this shop. read more

DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY HERE! I bought a Super 73 S2 from Holland's bike shop to commute to work. Had a long talk with the sales person and settled on the Super 73 S2. Everything was fine until about 3 weeks after the purchase. The motor went bad and I brought it back to Holland's to get the motor repaired. I expressed that it was important to get it repaired quickly due to it being a commuter bike. That was not what happened at all. In total I waited 6 months for my bike to be repaired. Even if the store was waiting on a part. They could have easily taken a part from one of the many new super 73s they were more than happy to sell in order to fix my bike. I've seen several responsible businesses do exactly that, but they refused. All in all I wasted a lot of time and money here. I highly recommend you find another bike store with a responsible owner who cares about his customers. Update: Nobody from your shop contacted me. No email, no phone call, no messages. As for the part, it had already been a MONTH, and you refused to use a part from a new bike to fix mine. Also, if you really care about your customers. Why don't you refund me the money on the bike I was sold that I never got to use, Instead of taking money from members of the armed service, who are I'm sure a lot of your customer base. read more

Yikes. I made a pretty bad call for my first time longer-distance ride on a bicycle for which I didn't have the correct shoes. Amateur hour ‍. I was riding up the stand, from Nestor, and was in dire need of some bicycle help. Two random cyclists I had talked to on my way north (Danny and Ryan..?) Sent me to Holland's and instructed me to look for a guy with a beard and tattoos who goes by the name Bo-Jack. I lucked out as he was the first person I saw when I walked in. Man, that guy is awesome. Very personable, kind, and clearly a subject matter expert on all things cycling. I received a quick yet thorough crash course on many things I needed to know. He walked me through all of the possible options and we finally arrived at the perfect solution! I was in a decent amount of pain when I walked in, because of my own stupidity, and was able to ride home in comfort. Pretty much made my day. Kindness, generosity, respect, and passion for the sport are clearly in abundance here; as was made evident by Bo-Jack. Thanks again, man! I'll see you next time! read more

So, Holland's Bicycles is a Brompton dealer. I checked before and after my call. The dealer I bought my Brompton from is no longer in business and it needs rear hub maintenance. The person who answered the phone was courteous and transferred me to the shop mechanic. That person brusquely stated that he does not work on Brompton hubs. I asked if he knew who might - that seems like a reasonable question, right? He stated that he could not say, that he only focusses on his own shop. OOOkay. So, keep this in mind if you are thinking about dealing with Holland's Bicycles. read more

If you don't have your own bike or don't want to ferry it over - Holland's is the place. Variety of bikes to fit any ability or interest. The guys are terrific! Really welcoming and very helpful. All the bikes (not buggies) come w baskets and locks!! Bonus. About two minutes from the Ferry landing. Walk up the pier and head to your right past Azul hang a left thru the parking lot and Holland's is on your left - look for the bikes. ;) We decided on electric as we'd never ridden them before. What treat! They showed us the gears, on off, how to work the lock and mode from Eco to Turbo. What a blast. They have great advice on routes and take a look at the website for more. It's such a great way to get away from the tourist part of Coronado into the parks, beaches, and the beautiful neighborhoods. Such a treat. We had a blast at doggie beach. Just locked up the bikes and played in the surf w the dawgs. Biking is a great way to clear the head. The sun surf and water just ads to the enjoyment. Enjoy!! read more

It breaks my heart to write this review. Holland's is one of the oldest businesses on Coronado, and IMO was the most beloved. How it used to be: we would go in, not expecting bargain pricing, but knowing we'd get expert advice and friendly service. There are very few places where we could walk in, tell the staff what we needed, and trust them to knowledgeably and expertly provide the same, and happily pay the bill at the end. On my first full day in San Diego I took the ferry to the Coronado side and went to the bicycle from this vendor it was a multi speed fitness bike and it was perfectly maintained the brakes worked the gear shifted it was clean it wasn't busy but I would say they run a tight and efficient ship there now that said unfortunately the lock they gave me malfunctioned but I was rescued the shop manager came to where I was having lunch and was able to open unlock the bike with only a minor in the way I was able to resume my bike ride from imperial Beach back to Coronado I would highly recommend renting from this place I'm an avid bicyclist and if I could have my bike maintain there I would. thank you Brian for coming in and walking the bicycle read more

I bought a fancy electric bike from Jason (knowledgeable young man with Howard Stern like hair) figured with current events needed a new source of exercise & entertainment, plus if the world ends "I be biking"! Well I get to my local PB boardwalk cruising away idle 9mph hit the wonderful pot hole & boom my battery pack fell off! Never charged it just battery locked & loaded from the shop.... well not locked. Turned out I had a malfunctioning locking system. They took care of getting me a new battery within warranty. It gets better, with my new shiny battery I start cruising around PB, 2 weeks later, and low and behold my back tire has a fancy braking system hiding under my splash guard. It started wearing incorrectly on my tire. So back to see Holland's, sad, thinking I got a lemon, they ordered me new parts & fixed it again within warranty. They stand by their warranties! Tip: There are only 2 men that work on electric bikes for this shop recommend calling ahead to see if they're in that day, limited scheduling. Want to say the guys name was Travis? read more

I'm sooooo glad this place is close by. I ride my beach cruiser often from the strand to Coronado and the guys at the maintenance area helped me out. I was even able to find a beach cruiser basket for $32 that I've looked for in almost every store (Walmart, Target, Amazon) that wasn't available, BUT they had a perfect one at Holland's. They fixed my flat tire and replaced the tube with a new one. On top of that they guys installed my bike basket for me. They were quick to fix my bike and called me up when it was ready. I even saw how helpful they were with other customers. There's also a free air pump in the back if you need to refill your tires. During covid now they don't allow people to rent bikes but they'll guide you in the right direction to another location and find a bike to rent. The guys that work here are ROCKSTARS!! read more

To my military community, I recently just moved to Coronado. taking my e-bike to Holland bike shop Suggested I needed a brake pad replaced on both tires. I have a rod power do, A few weeks later, I was having problem with my Ebike it was never resolved. Rod power bike dealer stated that they replaced the brake pad with a different size. I will never take my ebike to Holland bike shop ever again. Spoken to the manager Nelson, showed no compassion in regard of my safety on the road. read more

Just wanted to give a quick shout out to Holland's Bicycles in Coronado California. These guys have been around 75 years and this is my second bike I bought from them and even though the warranty expired I called them and with no questions asked they re-ordered me a warranty replacement rim when the original one cracked....but I end up getting upgraded with a higher quality rim and also a better hub with better bearings... keep in mind these wheels are about $400-500 bucks apiece. The manager Joe is a consummate professional Jacob is probably the most informed salesman I've ever spoken to. The amount of time that these guys spend with a customer to include my bike fit which Jacob spent almost 2 hours with me and set up my bike for long distance; 100 miles + was amazing. I live up in Oxnard California now but I will make the drive three hours, (we have family down here anyway) to have these guys work on my bike I won't take it to anybody else! My husband and I are on Coronado for our anniversary. We come very year. We like to walk the shops and pick little things up. We love bike shops. My husband has three bikes. We approached this shop and it was all roped off. Big sign: We do not rent. A guy came out, what do you want? We'd like to come inside and look around. We like to get little things for our bikes. What do you want? A bell? I'll get it and bring it out. Umm no, we just want to look around. WE don't DO that. My husband said let it go honey, let's go. What a rude human.
