Welp, I'm officially adult, having purchased my very own Christmas tree for the first time ever…read more That's not counting my Charlie Brown table top tree that I proudly displayed in my first ever apartment for a few years. Not really knowing where to start, I remembered always seeing this little tree "farm" in that triangle of green space on Austin Hwy near the Broadway intersection. A sucker for supporting a good cause and keeping it local, I decided to make it my first stop on the hunt. It was the weekend before Thanksgiving, so there were plenty of lush pines to choose from (Firs to be specific...) starting at 3 and 4 feet and working their way up to 8-9 feet. It didn't take us long to find the perfect one, and within 10 minutes, the volunteer guys running the show had it trimmed, chopped and loaded in our truck for us. We also scored a deal on last year's stand (I think they were selling them half-price). All in all, we made it out of there in less than 20 minutes and spent exactly $100 for a beautiful fresh scented Fir and a brand new stand. It warrants mentioning that, yes, you will find a cheaper tree at Home Depot (by about half the price). But what you won't find is three gentlemen ready and willing to help, with smiles on their faces, and a Christmas Tree purchase that gives you warm fuzzies beyond the usual holiday spirit. Support local when you can!

27 Jul 2026…read more Sometimes it's hard to find a human. Several self-checkouts, maybe a couple of humans. I needed some keys made and asked the first employee I saw. He said walk down to the green machine and he'll send somebody there. OK. I'm at the green machine. A girl shows up, I pick the blank I like (black paws) for my new door key and a plain blank for my mailbox key. She takes my originals to copy. The process is quite a bit easier than in previous years. The blank key is stuck into one well and is copied. Then it's removed and inserted into another well to remove burrs and polish. The new keys are so smooth. No roughness felt as they are inserted into their respective locks. Keys are no longer cheap. The 'paws' key was $8.97 and the smaller plain one was $7.97. They turned out pretty good.

When I returned to Home Depot, I showed staff a video of the problem and spoke with a manager. They offered a $30 discount, but declined my request for a refund. I understand equipment can malfunction. What frustrated me was paying for a rental I couldn't use to complete the work, then receiving an adjustment that didn't cover even the help I'd hired. I'd appreciate a full refund.

This was so lame!…read more Before you all start criticizing me, let me clarify that the Alamo itself is not what I am reviewing, but rather specifically the December lights inside the Alamo grounds. Literally you could see everything in 5 minutes after you enter the gates. I'm uploading pictures and a quick video of the 4 major light decorations, so you don't have to venture inside like I did. Honestly, all the decorations outside the entrance gate were more exciting than what was inside the grounds. Additionally, the lights along Houston street and the Riverwalk were also else I'd recommend instead of Alamo Lights. I would have been so angry if I drove and parked downtown solely for the Alamo Lights because it was one of the most underwhelming experiences ever. I know the $5 admission is (probably...hopefully) going towards Alamo maintenance, so that's why I'm not rating this as one star. But any more than $5 and there's a good chance I'd have rated it one star. Also, this review was written in 2023, so maybe the other years' lights were better

I said I would while I was in town going to a nearby Sam's. I had never been in this particular Lowe's but found locating it was easy. Parking was easy and near the front entrance. Walking in, I found I had no idea where this type of product was located. Signage was poor, but I finally found the area where it was located. The area for the product looked like it had been hit by a tornado. There was no rhyme or reason to how things were displayed, but I assume it had to be due to lots of customers going through the merchandise. I had to check a lot of the product as many were missing the electronics. Others were in bad shape. I finally found one that was perfect and picked it up. Payment is easy with self-checkout. I was glad I didn't have any questions as there was nobody around to ask. I guess that in the battle for low prices customer service has nearly vanished. Will I return? Yes, if I'm in the area as I really do like Lowe's.

If you love indoor plants, you have to check out their greenhouse. It always has a huge selection of plants from all sizes. They also recently opened a section of cacti and succulents which is super cool.
