Since it was quickly getting hot, we didn't do much outdoor shopping, but she did buy a lot of seed packets and some lily bulbs. Things here are a little more expensive than other places but on the other hand, many places won't have the selection Rainbow Gardens has. The folks running it are also very nice and helpful.

If you are a lover of gardening, floriculture, novice or self styled professional, avail yourself…read moreof the flora offered by Maria Rocha. Known as 'Flowers on wheels", and lately, as "Maria Rocha Plants", this lady and her crew offer remarkable value and variety of plants every Saturday morning in a parking lot at the corner of Vance Jackson and Wurzbach Road. She loads her trucks with plants from local growers, and at 7:00 until 1:00, the selling frenzy is joined. BUT, don't tarry, for nearing the 1:00 hour, the best of the best are sold out!. What is offered? Ferns, flowering plants for indoor and outdoor, herbs, succulents, annuals, perennials, even orchids...the selection may vary from Saturday to Saturday, but the health and quality of the plants are second to none. The prices? Easily beating those at local nurseries and big box stores. (Actually, we did find Boston Fern at a local grocer for one dollar less, but of lesser quality, in our honest opinions). And if the plants offered are not enough of an inducement, just ask Maria's advice for growing and maintenance of plants. Don't be misled by her down home, and sometimes brassy personality. Her knowledge of plants is almost encyclopedic! We have become regulars, as Marjan is addicted to the practice of gardening. Make a trip to the corner of Vance Jackson and Wurzbach. Visit Maria Rocha. See what she has to offer to gardeners. We think you will be pleased with the experience!! Marjan rates Maria Rocha Plants...5 origami boots!!! (Oh, one more thing: Maria's is a "cash only" business, no checks or credit cards!)

Usually by noon, most of her plants have already sold and you only get the not-so-pretty plants. All the plants I've purchased from her have been doing amazing and are pest free. Last time I visited she was only accepting cash, so I would recommend taking some bills in case she is still doing that. Highly recommending visiting her if you are looking for a new plant baby!
