We had a pleasant stay at this Holiday Inn Express. Stayed for 5 nights in February 2017. The service was excellent. Everyone at the front desk was friendly and helpful and always greeted you with a smile when you walked in the door.
The room was comfortable. We were in 109, which overlooked the side street with a "balcony" - not accessible, but the window did open partially. The one rather annoying thing about the room was that several of the balconies are lit up during the night with very bright lights. It looks pretty outside, but shines in your window all night, unless you completely pull the curtains shut.
Maybe ask for one room that isn't lit up, if you have the choice, if this would bother you.
The other thing that bothered me about the stay was that the room temperature was not easily adjusted. They have either heat or air depending on the season and it cannot be changed. It was much too warm in our room, but we could not cool it. Luckily, the window was able to be opened for the night or else we wouldn't have any air flow in the room.
The breakfast was good. Better than you would expect from a holiday inn express. They had nice quality pastries and breads, a few meats (turkey, ham) and 3 cheeses. Plus the standard cereals and fruits and yogurt. No hot foods, no eggs or anything like that. Very much a standard Portuguese breakfast and a decent one at that.
The location is okay. If I were to stay in Lisbon again for tourism, I would prefer to be closer to the river area where many of the attractions are located. But you are close to a metro station, restaurants, shopping, and only about a 20 minute walk from the middle of everything downtown. Definitely not a bad location. read more
