This was my second time staying at the HI Express in Lewiston, we enjoyed our stay same as the last time. They have recently refreshed the rooms which is nice, we had a king suite which had a fireplace and patio balcony, which was great. Everything was very clean and organized in the room and in working order. The fitness room was small but had good options, the pool was heated, not very deep but was well kept, although I wish they still had the hot tub. Breakfast area was nice with a patio balcony which has great views of the valley. All the staff were extremely friendly and went out of their way to assist if needed. Only issue was the hot water seemed to take a really long time for the sink or shower, but overall all a really comfortable stay! read more

I will not ever be coming back to this hotel. I'm checking in and the front desk personnel didn't swipe nor tap nor enter my debit card and immediately said "it didn't go through." My partner gave her debit card to him, and with the same condescending attitude made the comment without even verifying it wasn't the computer system. The front desk person when I checked in was great. Very friendly and helpful. My room however smelled like pee upon walking in. There was a large cob web on the ceiling and wall. And there was a dog in the adjoining room that was a bit yappy when I entered my room. The dog was quite through the night so that was nice. In the morning I was laying in bed on my phone and an ant crawled across my screen. The breakfast was pretty good however but the room is the important part of the transaction. read more

One of the best places (if not the best) in Lewiston area. Something to remember, Lewiston is still a country town all grown up. Largest city for many miles, but its main economic forces are Clearwater Paper, Vista Outdoors (ATK - CCI, Speer),agriculture, *factoid* furthest inland sea port in the US (last I checked), hunting and steelhead & salmon runs. As some reviews have opined to my consternation its "still unrefined", don't expect refinement. That's not what Lewiston is about, where one of the largest events of the year is still their rodeo. It's a country-city and likely to stay that way. Why is that relevant? The whole picture helps to understand the business. Holiday Inn Express: not going to lie to you. It's a bit overpriced for the city described above...quite a bit. But likely it keeps it nice and clean (which it definitely is.). I suspect you are paying for the view that is a plus. Also, they are building a Marriott close by so the price may equalize soon. Recently stayed at a Hilton Garden Inn in Missoula for comparison and paid quite a bit less for a bigger room, etc. Staff: Great! Friendly, genuine, and helpful. I cannot say enough about that. A few years ago my wife and I stayed here and the lady (who still works here) was very kind and helped our little "getaway" a little sweeter with an upgrade. Can't say enough good about the staff. Breakfast: fantastic and filling. Room: Nice, clean, and in great shape. Not run down and in disrepair - I hate cheesy maintenance. Little balcony that was very nice. Nice hot tub (aaahhh). and comfortable bed. (You know we get spoiled with our own beds! But this was pretty comfy and I got good sleep.). I forgot my pillow, but there's was a good substitute. They didn't hesitate to give us 30 mins more on check out. One complaint: they house regional juvenile hockey teams from time to time and this was one of those times. The people were great family people and nice, but my can those hockey players pound the stairs all morning long as they take turn driving off to their tournament. Whew! The King Suite was right against the stairwell. I must say though it did wake us earlier that desired it really wasn't too loud, just rumbled a bit. read more

This is a must read, if you don't like getting your things stolen! We rented two rooms and had two dogs with us. Shortly after we left to run errands, somebody keyed into our room to steal my pain pills not knowing we had dogs in there. They unlocked the back patio door and locked our dogs outside. The police were called, and one of my dogs ended up getting pepper sprayed and then tazed twice. The hotel refused to take responsibility for the theft, even with proof we were not at the motel when the key card was used to get into our room. They ended up kicking us out of the motel, because we had a "vicious dog" ( which according to our neighbor was just trying to get back into our room and was frightened). To make it worse, the manager was too scared to even talk to me and made the front desk guy do the dirty work and tell my wife to leave while she hid out nearby in the stairwell. I am a gold elite member because I stay in motels very frequently and love the IHG chain, but this was absolutely the worst motel experience ever! A complaint has been filled with IHG on this one. That manager needs to lose her job over this one for protecting her criminal help! read more

Not what we expected compared to other properties. Room had a strange smell and bathroom floor was very dirty. Chrome in the bathtub had scum on it from not being cleaned in a while. Unfortunately the gal at the front desk was not helpful and extremely unfriendly. Trash sat on the ground in the back grassy area the entire stay. It's clear they don't walk the property on a regular basis. I provided a review on their direct site and of course it was never shared and we haven't been contacted. According to Yelp, three stars means "A-OK." To me, this hotel is A-OK; Not terrible but far from amazing. Nothing against Holiday Inn Express but I'm a Hilton/Marriott kinda guy to begin with. I will say Holiday Inn Express had ALWAYS helped me out when in a pinch. The good: Nicest hotel in Lewiston. Near modern shopping in Lewiston like Safeway, Home Depot, Panda Express, Red Lobster and some other restaurants. Rooms are clean. Staff is very friendly. Breakfast is included and the food is alright. Has a pool and exercise room Half the rooms have a decent view. The not so good: It's in Lewiston. Lewiston!!!! No restaurants within quick walking distance. A decent distance from downtown Lewiston. If you're in Lewiston (avoid if you can), this hotel is the best place you can stay. I'd stay here again if I were stuck in Lewiston, Idaho. If you can make your way to Pullman, WA or Moscow, ID, you'd find some better places to stay. read more

Friendly staff and new breakfast here. Fairly well maintained with nice beds and furniture in the rooms. Appears to have been updated within the last 5 years. The common area and breakfast area were both well maintained and kept clean. Not the darkest rooms for the daysleeper, lots of light came in under the blackout curtain. They have a nice size pool and s and all hot tub. Reasonable pricing for the amenities and room. Pathway down to ernie's steakhouse which you need to try once if you stay here. Literally one of the best hotel stays I've ever had... and I've stayed at a lot. Friendly customer service from booking, check in, interactions in the hall, through check out. Gym had everything I needed. We brought our well trained dog and this is where things get even better. I am always a little worried at "pet friendly" facilities because you run the risk of pet smells and dirty rooms. This was NOT the case at all. Room was exceptionally clean and you'd never even know the hotel was pet friendly at first glance/smell. Our check in guy even made sure we got a room on the bottom floor with direct access to a gated in grassy area for pets. My doggo who had been in the car for most of the day was extremely grateful for this. Breakfast was perfection for anyone who enjoys a REAL breakfast, not the "continental carb fest" most hotels like to call breakfast. Plenty of parking, super nice staff, we checked in early because we were there for a track meet and needed to unload the car, when I called to see if we could check in early they were fine with it and even gave us a ground floor room with a door out onto their grassy area in the back it was so nice to sit out there and relax after a long day of track. Beds were comfy room was clean a little smelly but most hotels have an odd smell. Breakfast was okay it fed the kids well so no complaints from me and the pool was small but again fun for the kids. This place had all three; plus free WiFi, a frig in the room, and a decent exercise room. Also had a pool and a hot tub or jacuzzi (I saw it but didn't use it). Absolutely the worst hotel. This hotel is extremely poorly built. A structural defficiency. No sound proofing what so ever. If you are not on the top floor be prepared not to sleep. At all. Be prepared to hear every footstep, chair movement, etc. Horrible. The room was dirty from the get go. Waited an hour upon check in for the room to be cleaned on the surface. Checked in and went to room and it was filthy. After waiting an hour the room was surface cleaned. In no way was it detail oriented clean. Barely passable. All in all a very unpleasant experience. They refused to honor our Expedia reservations -- said they had no rooms at that rate -- and thus double-billed us for two rooms, two nights. (Expedia had already paid them, and eventually they had to refund the money to Expedia, which has not yet gotten the money back to us.) The hotel locked three of the people in our group out of their rooms mid-stay, with their belongings held hostage in the rooms, until we paid their full rate, rather than the Expedia rate -- with NO WARNING. They'd said one or more parties might have to change rooms after the first night, but the next thing we knew, these people were locked out, without explanation. Very unpleasant, unapologetic, uncompromising. We could not have had a worse experience coming to town for a family member's funeral. The hotel itself was OK and clean, decent breakfast, pool, a/c worked, etc. But it would take a lot to make up for people being locked out of their rooms and the hotel's refusal to honor the prepaid Expedia fares. I blame this on inadequate management -- a good manager could have assessed the situation and dealt with us reasonably and cooperatively. They were, instead, hostile and (in the words of one guest) treated us like "second-class citizens" for having booked with an entity other than Holiday Inn to make and prepay the reservation. Except for this glaring breach of hospitality, I would've given them a decent rating. Cannot do so now. They are at the bottom of my list for places to stay -- anywhere. read more

As a general statement I have to say that Holiday inn expresses are on the top of my list where it comes to picking a hotel in a city I've not stayed overnight in before, and this facility did not disappoint. We were in town for an event, and we had our Great Dane with us. Not only is this Holiday inn express pet friendly, but the staff really seemed to enjoy having our big boy there. We were in a pet friendly single king room on the ground floor. Because the hotel is built into a hill that meant an elevator ride down one floor. The room had another door that opened up on to the grassy lawn that over looked Lewiston. It was great having that area for middle of the night potty for the dog, and we enjoyed the view. Pros: - Breakfast was the standard express starts breakfast. Items were fresh and well stock as well the breakfast area was kept clean. - Entire facility was kept clean. - Standard Holiday inn Express beds & Bedding in good shape, clean and comfortable. - Staff was friendly - WIFI worked great and was easy to get connected to. Cons: - no cons. Other notes: - The ground floor pet rooms are one floor down from the lobby. - we did not use the pool, spa or exercise room on this trip so I cannot comment on that. In conclusion if you have stayed at a Holiday inn express before you will know what to expect and this location will give you all of the comforts that you would expect to have at a holiday inn express. read more

I stay here at least 6 times per year and the accommodations have continually gone down. Today I got a call at 9:15am in my room telling me the hot water would be shut off at 9am... 15 minutes after the fact. I call the front desk at 10am because NO water is running and was told it wouldn't be ready until after 12. In order to bath, I grabbed what was left in the ice machines and melted them down in the microwave to have usable water. I highly recommend staying at the Red Lion instead. read more

It's nice. The rooms are really pretty good sized and have all the amenities I would expect. The view is breathtaking. The staff has been super helpful, accommodating every need that I have, admittedly I don't have a whole lot of needs because I'm not terribly high maintenance. It's also one of those places where if you forget your razor or your deodorant or toothbrush toothpaste etc., they will simply give you everything that you need for free. The continental breakfast is a basic continental breakfast, but it's free. This isn't a four star resort or anything, but it's because you pretty much everything you need out of the holiday in express and then some. read more

This nice, clean, well positioned hotel was absolutely wonderful to me when I got stranded by a canceled flight out of Lewiston, Very friendly and accommodating staff helped me with my every need and made me feel very welcome. My room, the lobby, the breakfast room...all were clean and comfortable. The shuttle takes you where you want to go and makes you feel special! We could look into the exercise room (but we didn't use it) and it looked clean with several modern machines. Free Wi-Fi a bonus - while kids watched Disney channel, we surfed. Cookies and milk at bedtime was a treat for my kids, and the hot breakfast made up for the little extra we paid to stay here. Quick walk down the hill to eat dinner. Did I mention the friendly staff? Totally a solid option! It was our first time in Lewiston and I was more looking for a hotel chain that I knew, as most of them are smaller motel type spots. Holiday Inn Express was not on the cheapest price point end, but it was totally worth the money. Perched on Nez Pearce drive, it has a great view of the river and hills, as well as the fragrant paper mill (keep your fingers crossed the wind is blowing away from the mill while you are in town). The rooms were spacious and very comfortable. They come equipped with microwaves and mini-fridges, always a plus. The front desk staff was awesome, our checkin was super quick and the lady was really helpful, offering us late check out before we even had to ask (since we were priority members). There is a lovely indoor pool, but it would have been great to have some outdoor lounge chairs and sitting area, since the weather was super nice while we were there. The breakfast is the standard HIE breakfast, hot items, cereal, juice, coffee, BUT they have an awesome pancake conveyor belt that makes them while you stand there (this was a big bonus for several guests, who apparently have not ever seen technology before and were taking video of the pancake machine...which was more entertaining to watch than the actual pancake assembly line...but I digress). In the afternoon they have cookies available for free as well. It is super close to a ton of restaurants and businesses, which is great, very central in location.
