We are supposed to be staying here 7 nights and have been here two nights going on three. We tried multiple times asking them to clean and service the room all to no avail. We tried 5 times today leaving in the morning at 10am and asking both the person on duty Megan and the housekeeper herself to come. We asked both twice, and the housekeeper came after I'd told her 2pm at 1 when I was in a towel . The first time we requested, we got back 2plus hours later and still no one had come to clean. Megan never apologized when we asked why. She instead said she was busy doing laundry and that we needed to give a more specific time even though we had done just that. We had given a two hour window (10-noon) and then the second time when we left at 2 an 8.5 hr window. Unfortunately once again when we got back to the room at 10:30 pm, it still hadn't been cleaned. Another problem since we got here, despite telling them multiple times is the tv doesn't get a signal (that's the air message on the screen) and is unusable as it's not connected to their cable provider. Someone named Sean came to the room at around 1:30 pm saying he'd heard we had problems with the hotel. But he ended up saying if we're not happy with the room they'd reimburse one night but we'd need to get out by 3pm!!! It was 1:30 and we were about to leave for the reason we had traveled here from L.A. (a university graduation ). I was shocked at his inhospitable manner. I explained we were on our way out right then (I was at the door about to leave) heading to our daughter's university graduation and wouldn't be back until late that night so his suggestion was ridiculous. I tried to explain if his intention was to compensate us or apologize, he shouldn't be telling a 7 night-reserved guest to "get out" with a 1.5 hr ultimatum. This is highly improper hotel hospitality etiquette in my experience and he may have been the general manager himself, even more shocking. That part was also confusing. He handed me a card of the general mgr but implied he wasn't the same person as the card even though the card also had the name Shawn (last name Patel)??? It's 10:45 pm as I write this, and since we got back at 10:15 tonight there has been not a single person on duty. The same was true of last night. If there is an emergency in this hotel, there will be absolutely no one here to take care of anyone. When you call the phone number, it says unable to take a message, that is using the room phone and also calling the general manager's card number from my mobile phone which on the card is the same as the hotel general number on their room phone!! There is no one here at this hotel to take any kind of responsibility and no way to get in touch with anyone, unacceptable hotel management and highly suspicious as well. Also breakfast food stale and inedible except boxed cereal. It is difficult to even give this hotel one star due to the above, but it requires that I give one to leave this review otherwise I wouldn't. read more

The hotel overall was fine. Staff was nice and they were just finishing cleaning our room as we arrived (a few minutes before check in time). Breakfast the next day was pretty standard and good (and free!). This hotel looks to be near a lot of hospitals and medical treatment centers, so it's convenient for that. However I had to knock three stars for major dings. 1. About an hour after we checked in we were relaxing in the room and we hear a key open the door. The front desk staff forgot they had assigned us our room and had given keys to someone else. Luckily we were in the room, but I'm not sure what would have happened if we weren't there. Of course, we then had to get our keys reprogrammed. 2. Our room was missing its smoke detector. read more

Overall this was a comfortable stay. The pool was small but nice. The hot breakfast was pretty good. The room was clean and the bed was comfy. The only thing was the unprofessional man working in the front desk. He seems uninterested in dealing with customers. I also had to call to find out some info, and no one was picking up the phone and when some did pick up, he kept on hanging up. Overall if they can improve on the professionalism of the front desk, it would make the experience much better read more

Maybe I was a few days too late past peak season? Maybe some places are still suffering from the aftermath of pandemic? Front desk wasn't rude by any means, but warm, humble, or bubbly aren't ways to describe our welcome either. Our room was quite large; larger than most HIE I've been to. But, I found myself asking how well everything was cleaned. The room felt stale even with the AC on. We utilized the pool and the water was uncomfortably cold. By nighttime, as I went to wash my face and my eyes closed from rinsing, I had reached for the facial cloth with lipstick stains. I sidestepped that one just in time. Generally, just other things I noticed about this particular location was how dark and depressing the whole hotel was. Breakfast, seemed to be short on everything. As a Plan B, I think they pulled out reheated Jimmy Deans Sandwiches. I don't recall the lights being on. My guess is to save electricity. The whole time sitting there, no one was present at the front desk. In fact, I am convinced there are no more than 3 people on staff who are operating a whole hotel. Sadness looms in the air. If you're looking for a getaway, particularly one that is full of despair and every Stephen King vibe, this would be the perfect place for you. read more

Bring Cleaning Supplies Upon arrival, I had immediate concerns about cleanliness in the hotel. The air inside was musty, with a funky smell (bug spray?). I checked the room, and went back to the front desk. Ms. Patel, the Manager on duty, assured me everything was cleaned and sanitized: "I Guarantee it is Clean" she assured us. My husband and I tried to locate another hotel, but none were available in the area. Upon our return, we brought cleaning supplies to sanitize the room before staying the night. We also put our clothes in sealed bags in case there were bugs. We took pictures of the grimy rugs, and trash on the floor in the elevator. Worst was the mold in the bathtub. It was filthy. We asked to see the Manager, but he was not available in person or otherwise, nor did he contact me as we requested. They actually told me they had no way to contact him, even by phone. Sleeping was restless at best, as I had difficulty breathing during the night. Although they offered a complimentary breakfast, given the filth I saw throughout the building, I wouldn't risk eating there. We left at about 5:30 the next morning, again asking to see the Manager. I suffer from severe asthma and allergies, so cleanliness is not simply a notion. It's essential, especially while Covid is looming. I reached out to Holiday Inn Corporate Office, but they were unhelpful in resolving my concerns. Apparently, filth and mold are acceptable standards of operation. In spite of repeated requests, the Manager never contacted me, so I've referred the matter to the local and state Health Dept. If cleanliness isn't a big issue for you, I suggest you save your money and stay at Motel 6. read more

Let's just start off by saying that this is a wonderful hotel. The indoor pool is open (during COVID that's hard to find) the gym facility is also open and it's pretty decent. Extremely clean hotel, great location. Wonderful hospitality. Only thing I would say I disliked was the pillows, they're wayyyy to soft and cave in easily. This caused my neck to slightly hurt. I keep going to Holiday Inns and they keep impressing me to the fullest! I came for a medical school interview and needed a place to stay. We booked this Holiday Inn since it was the closest, and it was a Holiday Inn Express. Our checkin process was really smooth. Our room was clean and was taken care of when we weren't in the room. The breakfast, although basic, was amazing everyday. They had greek yogurt, eggs, bacon, sausage, cereal, oatmeal, juices, breads, and my favorite, cinnamon rolls! Nothing to complain about at all. This is honestly the most disgusting hotel I've ever stayed at. Most motels are cleaner than this place. We walked into our room (the handles on the doors are placed upside down, they don't tell you this when you check in, you have to go down and ask how to get into the room) and there was trash everywhere. In all the trash barrels were used a tips, shampoo bottles, you name it. There was beer bottle caps all over the rug and Christmas toy packages all over the room including behind the bed, meaning no one changed the sheets!! We couldn't get an extra pillow to sleep on something clean. Also housekeeping half way thru our stay opened our door at 9 am without knocking!!! The king room we chose was much larger than some of the other HIExpress that we have stayed in during our trip. The staff was very friendly and helped us find an amazing restaurant on the water. There was some sort of loud mechanical noise we heard while staying on the second floor. Other than that our stay was uneventful. They had free breakfast but we did not take advantage of it as we had things to do and places to go. Dunkin Donuts is close by, along with other shopping. read more

We're Priority Club members, so we choose Holiday Inn whenever we can. I like HIE because they're usually more updated and modern, and they offer free breakfast. This location was really nice. The rooms were very clean, the beds were extremely comfortable, and the hotel was quiet. The breakfast was standard HIE breakfast, which I find pretty enjoyable for continental breakfast. This hotel amazes me. It has an austere looking hyper modern lobby, but once you get passed that...they have a pool, it is quiet, the halls are quiet with lovely modern design carpeting. The rooms are HUGE and very comfortable. If I didn't know better I would have thought this is a 150 dollar a night place...not 70 dollars per night. The beds feel clean and fresh, the baths are clean, clean clean. Breakfast was lousy..lots of sugar and white flour...but, I am not complaining. Its right off the interstate but you hear nothing. Just stayed for a night after thanksgiving dinner with my mother. We stayed in a room with two queen beds (not sure if it has a certain name). Price was very reasonable considering the holiday, the size of the room,and other amenities. There was a Keurig and large bathroom with lots of towels. The beds were soft comfortable and warm. Only complaint was that breakfast was only from 6-9 am, which is a bit early for my taste, but most hotels including breakfast start and end pretty early read more

Great for what we needed! Room was spotless and clean upon arrival and we checked-in really early. The only thing keeping it from 5-stars was there was no shower curtain in the bathroom! First and foremost, a great deal. My last two stays were under $100 each before tax. There seems to be no end in sight to the price hikes at the Courtyard Marriotts, Hampton Inns, DoubleTrees and Garden Inns in Maine lately, especially the gouging that happens during high season (which is anytime except for November to March it seems). "Demand pricing" just makes me feel like I'm getting screwed. I think I paid $179 for a Courtyard Marriott this summer. What!!!??? I was not near the coast or any tourist attractions at the time. I'm in sales and cover all of Maine, and when Biddeford is close enough to where I'll be working I'll try to stay at the HIE. Clean room, nice staff at the desk. It's not the Taj Mahal but certainly worth the $. read more

We are visiting from MA for a wedding in Kennebunkport. We showed up to the hotel early to see if we could get early check-in (as the wedding starts at 4 and check in isn't until 3 and we still needed time to get ready.) We met Trevor at the front desk who assured us that he would do the best that he could to meet our need and would call us if he could get us in early. Within an hour we received a call from Trevor stating that he had a room ready for us and we could check in whenever we needed. Upon check in, Trevor gave us info on the local beach and where to park "from a local" We greatly appreciated the Customer service that we received from Trevor. He went above and beyond to make sure we got what we needed and enjoyed our stay in Maine! read more
