When we arrived…read moreno one helped us with our luggage and we had to carry them up some steps as there was no ramp accessible. Front desk was not the friendliest and not helpful with some questions we had. Our arrival was at 9 pm, it felt more like we were arriving at 3 am with the limited service. Not what I was expecting for a 4 star property. At first we thought we made a mistake choosing this hotel. Following day was much better, however. Day time front desk was able to assist and service was like night and day....literally. The rooms are on the smaller size. We reserved the Large King, which I'm glad we did to have a little extra space. Bed is comfortable. Room has a desk and Nespresso machine. We unfortunately did not get to try the bar as it was closed during most of our stay, which was disappointing. We did get to enjoy Union restaurant and enjoyed some really good cocktails there. Able to bring them back to the lobby as well. I'm going with 4 stars due to location and our experience at Union restaurant and bar, but it's more of a 3.5 for me. If in the area again I might try another hotel. Try to arrive before evening for a better check in experience.

It is located near many cute stores, coffee shops and restaurants. My room was fine nothing special about it though it did have a Nespresso machine. The bathroom was very large and the shower head is an over head one. Which is also great. I was only here for a short time but I walked around and saw they have a very nice and good size gym and meeting rooms. The people I interacted with here were for the most part nice. I would stay here again.

This hotel is within walking distance to many of the attractions and restaurants. Upon arrival, I was greeted by Nicole who was very friendly and helpful while checking me in. Luckily a room was available so I was able to get checked in right away (before 12pm). The lobby is very inviting with a living wall and off to the side was another seating area. When entering the room, is the open closet, dresser, safe and a mini refrig all in the same wall unit. Then to the left is the bathroom. The vanity area is an open area. Then the toilet and shower is in it's own room. The main room is very spacious with the king bed with a canopy, work area and a chaise lounge. The room was well lit with the large windows and the various lighting fixtures. The hotel offers a fitness center, which I did not use since I did a lot of cardio walking around the city. Along with couple restaurants, Salt Yard, located on the ground floor while the Luna Rooftop Bar is located on the 6th floor. With a great staff and great location, I would highly recommend this hotel.

The rooms here are nicer, clean, desk staff is great, parking is convenient and the restaurants in the area are on point. My one negative is the bar here. The bartender literally disappears on the regular, (he's not running food, today was 15 min of no one here with guests waiting) and when he's here he is too busy on his phone to notice people sitting at bar. I stayed 7 times before posting this. So it's a norm.. But stay here for the room and go to a different bar

Came to stay here by taking advantage of a "Hotel Tonight" offer for a great price on a weekend…read more The hotel is an odd mix of good and not so good. The good: - lovely and welcoming staff. They will work hard to ensure your stay is as comfortable as can be - very modern and clean rooms. All appliances work perfectly, are fairly new, and don't feel run down or secondhand. - sheets and pillows are very clean, and I didn't really have an allergic response to the down pillows the hotel uses. You can ask for foam instead from customer service. - complementary hot cocoa on arrival, which really made my kids smile after a blustery ice storm hit us outside. The not-so-good: - the bed mattresses are quite uncomfortable. For a mattress that was 6" high, they are extremely firm, to the point that it felt we were on 3" mattresses with a plywood board underneath. To a person, everyone in the family commented how uncomfortable their sleep was from the mattress. - low-flow fixtures. I get that in this day and age, a hotel's water bill can be a huge line item. However, if I do come to a hotel for a vacation, at the very least if I want to take a nice shower, don't put in extra low-flow fixtures to the point that I need a 20+ minute shower just so I can rinse all the soap off. If comes across as cheap, and in winter, it doesn't feel good to try and keep warm under a strong trickle of water. - lights in the room are incredibly bright. Need to use the restroom in the middle of the night? Prepare to not only wake up everyone in the room with you, but also kill a few vampires nearby from the sudden flood of photons. - no exhaust fan in the bathrooms... you know where this one is headed, right? Not only are the rooms dripping after that unintentionally long shower, but if anyone uses the toilet... well, I hope you're very good friends, because you're going to share some stories for life. And the toilet is... square... (really) and uncomfortable, only being 18" off the ground. Why?! Also... whose idea was it to put a barndoor-style glass door for the bathroom? Please just give me a door I can close and trap the unfortunate air inside the bathroom rather than share with the bedroom. Please? - the morning breakfast starts at 6:30am and ends promptly at 10am. No sleeping in if you want to get something to eat. The hotel has a bar-style area with cereals, breads/bagels, charcuterie and a juice/yogurt area. Hot foods are ordered à la carte (but part of the overall cost of the meal.). The wait staff are nice and helpful, but they're overworked by the number of guests who show up for breakfast. I counted only two people serving the hotel morning rush, and it meals were delayed and ran long because they just have too many people to help at once. Never did they show frustration or become short with the guests, but it was obvious they could have used four people working rather than two. Adults are $18, children are $9. - the porter greeting arriving guests by car was chain smoking when we arrived. He offered to bring in our luggage, but I told him it was ok; I'm allergic to tobacco, so having my luggage smell like a freshly lit cigarette wasn't the way I wanted to start my stay. - parking is in a parking structure across the street, and $35 per night. The parking is effectively a hidden fee... why am I paying? It's as expensive as valet but I'm driving. Overall I think the hotel's pros do outweigh the cons, but many of the cons could be addressed and updated by Marriot to make it a better experience overall.

We have always had great experiences staying at Hampton Inn hotels. I was able to check in via the Hilton App and select a room. This location was great...on Fore street only about one block from the waterfront and surrounded by lots of shops and restaurants. The rooms were on the smaller side...but that is generally expected in larger/touristy cities. The rooms had comfortable beds, good water pressure, a microwave, a refrigerator and a desk/chair. There was also a large TV in the room with lots of channels. We did have an iron...but was missing an ironing board. Also, our bathroom door did NOT lock...the handle hardware seemed to be broken. They do offer free breakfast with a few hot options (such as eggs and sausages) as well as the typical continental items...breads, fruit, cereal and their signature waffle iron/maker. There is a pool and fitness center, but we did not visit either during our stay. Parking is valet-only and is $40 per night. You are given a ticket with your vehicle number and can text them when you want your car to be available. Your vehicle will be ready in a few minutes after sending the text. All the staff, including valet, we encountered were friendly, respectful and efficient.

I was in a room with two beds instead of one because that turned out to be cheaper. It was a modern and clean room. The ice machine on my floor never worked on my two night stay, which was annoying. Another annoying little thing, as they should know when I have actually checked out. I would probably stay at this Hampton Inn again the next time I'm in Portland.
