The farm shop is quite small but they sell their own beef (mince, steaks etc), lamb (chops etc), eggs, veg, pies (beef and cheese and onion), sausages as well as local preserves and chutney. Their main business is their cafe, which has a fantastic selection of small snacks (sandwiches, tea cakes, homemade soup, cream scones etc) to larger meals including salads, all day breakfasts, homemade beef and lamb burgers and daily specials. The food is all either from their own produce and meat at the farm or locally grown and sourced when possible. You can taste the difference and all the food is fresh and tasty. Their selection of cakes is fantastic, all home made and yummy. Last time I went they had crumbles, fruit pies, chocolate biscuit cake, sticky toffee pudding and many more I can't remember. But the one thing that I adore the most about this place is their own homemade ice cream! It is the best ice cream I have ever come across, it's not overly sweet and the flavours are great quality. The choice is huge and changes nearly every week but they can include: cherry and yogurt, strawberry cheesecake, sticky toffee pudding, hot cross bun, double chocolate chip, chocolate mint chip, strawberry, toffee fudge, sherry trifle, grandma's special (sweets perfect for kids), farmhouse vanilla, cookies and cream, liquorice... the list goes one. They also do sobets. As well as this huge selection you can buy cakes to take home, anything that's in the cake counter as well as homemade scones and cookies. It has a large outdoor area for kids to play with lots of toys and slides while adults can sit nearby in the sunshine watching the nearby cows and sheep in a field. The whole place just has a wonderful, friendly feel. Only caution I would suggest is if like me you don't have kids and like a bit of peace and quiet, either go early (before 12pm) on weekends and avoid on bank holiday Mondays as it gets very busy with families.

I was at the Chill Factore the other day and had 2 hours to kill (the lessons are really long) so after a tasty Nandos - Fredericks was next on the hit-list! I went for Stracciatella (the flavour not the egg & cheese soup) nice a creamy as I expected but with but chunks of chocolate as appose to chocolate chips which I really liked! They have loads of flavours and about 8 different types of cones with various flavourings! Pricing isn't too bad either as 2 scoops (which is quite a lot) in a fancy cone cost me a little over £3. You can also get tubs to take home which is better value - but not all flavours are available. Fredericks actually do a range of other items but I only visit for a quick Ice-cream, though I may stay for a more elaborate dessert next time round!

Rich's is primarily a nice little café at the quieter end of Lord Street which offers its customers a pleasant atmosphere in a reasonably-sized area that gives shoppers the chance to take the weight of their feet and have a hot drink and a sandwich or light snack. However, where Rich's really excels is in its range of desserts. As their sign says, Rich's sells ice cream in a variety of flavours and colours, meaning even the fussiest person could find a flavour to suit their tastes (I usually play safe and stick to chocolate myself, but each to their own). I tend to go for the natural flavour in a medium pot with raspberry's and honey, this costs between £3.50 and £4. Totally worth it. They usually have 4 or so flavours on offer. Today they had natural, peanut butter, match green tea and mango. You can have a little taste before you pick. They have a range of toppings too, ranging from fruit to chocolate and a variety of sauces to top it all off. In addition to the yummy fro-yo they also sell coffee and tea, as well as snacks including delicious protein balls that are vegan and healthy. The customer service has always been 5* in my experience, can't fault the guys that work here. The actual shop is a fairly small unit with about 5 seats inside and a few outside when the weathers nice. To be honest I'm surprised they've got 5 seats in there but they have, and it's comfortable. Most people tend to buy to take away. I also like that they offer a loyalty card, after 3 visits you get a free topping and after 6 you get a free small fro-yo. A must visit.

Charlotte's real jersey icecream parlour…read more As soon as I heard about this place I thought as an icecream lover it would be rude not to visit when I was in the area so straight in the car and off we went into the beautiful West Yorkshire countryside near Dewsbury to grab some yummy icecream. I thought the setting was wonderful it was possible to see for miles around. I was pleasently surprised how much this place had to offer as if all that icecream and cakes wasn't enough for you there is also animals which includes donkeys, rabbits, goats, geese, and of course cows and a playground and mini golf. Yes there is mini golf with the most amazing views of West Yorkshire The icecream was simply delicious I have to admit it was difficult to decide from all the yummy flavours 24 in total lucky that it is possible to have scoops of different ones together in one tub. Also they sell large tubs to take away and store in your freezer. It is possible to eat inside the cafe or the is seating outside which is lovely on a nice day. We went on a saturday afternoon and it was busy this little spot seems very popular. Parking was free I suggest visiting the website for a map and details of how to find the place.
