Small family shop, i called in looking for a picc cover. they gave me some options over the phone. when i arrived the owner was attentive and very empathetic. He said it would be cheaper on amazon etc. but i needed one asap. i ended up getting a mesh style wrap and sleeve that my wife ended up using. overall everything was great but i believe the price was steep for 2 thin sleeves and a box of mesh. the owner did say amazon was cheaper but i still made the purchase due to how nice he was. i can always appreciate good service and a good interaction. read more

First of all, call before you come here. Although the hours are posted online, that does not mean the shop is officially opened. I was in search of a wheelchair and came upon this place on Yelp. I called at 11am on a Saturday and was told by a nice lady that yes they were open but if I arrived and the door was locked, to give her a call so she could open the door for us. I arrived about 30 minutes later and the door was locked. Called the number listed and the nice lady who answered the phone earlier said she would send someone to come open up the shop in a few minutes and to wait there momentarily. Over 20 minutes later and 2 additional phone calls, a man finally arrives at the shop apologizing about not being there and opens up the shop for us. Walking in, the place is a bit cluttered but they have a good selection of wheelchairs and other various medical equipment. The sales person helped us quickly find a lightweight transport wheelchair and let us try it out. There were no prices listed on any equipment in the store so we perused online to get the gist of how much we would be spending. Well, once we agreed on which wheelchair we wanted to buy we asked for the price and was told it was $100 over what we had expected to pay. That really frustrated us and he flat out told us the price was not negotiable but he would take off $20 since we had to wait for him to open up the store. I fully support small businesses but I also would like full transparency and don't enjoy bargaining. This place needs to list their prices and stick with it. Overall, if you're desperate for medical supplies, I'm sure you can find it in this place. But call before you waste your time coming here and also be prepared to spend $$ over typical pricing. read more

I don't remember how many times I drove by this medical supply store in the corner of Holcombe Blvd and Almeda Road. I always wanted to stop in but couldn't find the entrance. Just so happened, I was lost with Waze app yesterday. It took me to a wrong entrance to get to VA Medical Center. I had to reorient myself in a nearby parking lot. Before I started the engine, I looked up. And, voila. There it is. I was curiously browsing in the store at first. The store attendant greeted me. I assume he was the owner because he acted so casual and knowledgeable. I was looking for a handy dandy gadget. He quickly retrieved it from the shelf. I was so excited because I just don't have the patience to look for it online. Another pet peeve of mine was to shop online but can't touch it until it's too late. Price was not a factor because I was happy he took care of my need. Then, I bookmarked this store for my next shopping trip. I really want to get know how to be a caregiver. Here's my message to those lowballing reviewers: You can find something cheaper online because those online stores don't care about you after you swipe that charge card. I highly, highly recommend Holcombe Medical Supply. The staff are extremely knowledgeable and caring, and the costs are very reasonable. We were attending an event at the George R. Brown Convention Center in Houston when one of our students needed to rent a knee walker. Her foot was in a boot from a previous surgery and the amount of walking around the convention center aggravated her injury, making it impossible for her to get around. Within an hour of calling Holcombe Medical Supply, the owner had delivered the knee walker to the hotel where we were staying. She was concerned for the student and extremely helpful in demonstrating how the equipment worked. She also picked up the walker from the hotel after we left for the airport, so the student never had to be without it for the remainder of the trip. Because our flight left extremely early on Sunday, the owner agreed to pick it up from the hotel on Monday and did not charge us for the extra day (Sunday). Had to get some ostomy bags while waiting for the shipment from Hollister. Found this place online and conveniently it's only a couple miles from us. Website said it opens at 10am on Sat. This particular Sat. they didn't open until after 11 due to car troubles with the owner. When he arrived he apologized for being late and was quite pleasant. Went in the store and wow, what a mess. Boxes lined down the middle of the very narrow store, boxes along the sides. 2 skinny paths just wide enough for an adult to walk down. Asked him for1 piece ostomy bags, expecting he would have boxes of 10 like just about everywhere online. He sells them by the piece. When I asked how much they were I was nearly floored, $10 EACH!!! The most expensive anywhere online is only $6 each. That's the Most Expensive. You can get them for as little as about $4 each. Unfortunately, we couldn't wait for shipping, even 1 day so bought 2. So, if you plan on shopping here be prepared to pay out the nose for supplies. read more

I highly recommend this place. I needed a wheelchair at the eleventh hour for my mother, called them up to check if there's one available. The lady on the phone was extremely polite and said that they do have one. Not only she gave me the directions to find the place, she also texted me the exact address of the place so that I don't get confused! When I reached there , she was very courteous. Even though one needs to make a reservation for a wheelchair in advance, as I had an emergency, she offered me a brand new one . She also told me how to take care of it while flying between cities with it. Also, the wheelchair was pretty comfortable and we had no trouble with it at all. I called Holcombe Medical Supply yesterday (Sept. 28th 2002) after calling numerous pharmacies and medical supply stores near my home area with no luck in finding the product I needed for today's Dr. appointment. I actually didn't get through and hung up, but was called back and received a voice message. I called back immediately and inquired about what I needed. After checking that they had what I needed in stock at their location. I mentioned I would try to make it before closing time. Since I left my doctors office in the late afternoon and didn't find them until almost closing time, I decided to come in the morning. I was actually in the area this morning and decided to go to their store and wait until they opened. I arrived around 9:10am. and waited until they opened at 10am. in the parking lot right in front of their front door. I hadn't noticed anyone come and open the store, and called at 10:02am. to ask if they were open. After a few rings, a female drowsily answered. I asked if they were open, and was questioned if I was at the store. I said yes, I was in front since about 9ish. I was asked what I needed, and told her and mentioned I had called the day before. I was then questioned why I didn't come the day before. I told her because I wouldn't have made it in time before they closed. I didn't realize this was an issue. So first of all, I got there nearly an hour a half after the store was supposed to open, but no one was there. After someone did arrive, I picked an item that I priced online for less than $15 (closer to $10 on some sites) and after a lengthy wait to input everything in by hand, was charged over $40 after taxes.
