Much appreciation to our waitress. After only 3 (including myself) of our 9 person booking turned…read moreup on time; 2 more 20mins late and the rest a ridiculous 45mins late. She remained friendly, bubbly and more than helpful. Offering us a smaller table thinking they had cancelled. Probably didn't want to waste the large table but we also did look a bit lonely sitting their nearly empty. Again staff in general were polite in moving us on as the last table and having gone beyond their closing time of 9:30pm. Also having to tell one of our guests that the kitchen had closed (they wanted dessert), whilst I lowered my head in annoyance at the request. I don't know if they always split bills but after a membership card was presented for the 10% discount they proceeded to take more of their time to accomodate this. Now to the food. Arriving to check in our reservation, we were passed by 2 enormous trays of food that I later found out were sharing platters. One ordered at our own table consisting of rib eye steak, ribs and sides. Bring your hunger game! A semi seafood platter also available. My partner and I ordered the 10oz rib eye (medium as standard) with saloon sauce for him and chipotle bernaise for me. The steak looked.... different. Putting it down to the slow cooked process? Tasted amazing regardless. But be warned, the steaks appear to be coated or dry rubbed with chilli flakes. I didn't mind it at all but my partner said his mouth was on fire. I tried his and disagreed strongly. Maybe his threshold was low that night. The side of chips were well seasoned and it was nice to have veggies included over salad. If I had to be negative I'd say the Texas toast could have been done better. Dry due to the thickness and needed more garlic flavour. Already have them in mind for a return trip for my birthday.

All your staple BBQ favourites delivered in a more contemporary, fine dining way…read more I spent $160 for my partners birthday which sounds expensive but that covered 2 beers, a wine, 2 entrees, 2 mains AND 2 desserts, PHEW! Both entrees were a great serving. My entree of pork buns could almost be a light lunch. Very tasty and colourful. No skimping on the garlic prawn entree either. For main the rattle steak is an interesting option served with beans, thick cut chips and chipotle hollandaise sauce. The fried coating is thin enough that it's not oily and has a nice hint of chilli. Sadly my steak was over cooked but it didn't ruin the dish. The fudge brownie and smores desserts were to die for. The brownie top was hard to cut through but it was ENORMOUS! Meals at other tables looked delightful too. Definitely worth a try and has a lovely view with huge glass windows.

We decided to have the garlic bread for main and received 4 slices of sour dough with a small cup of garlic butter to spread ourselves. It was an interesting way to serve and there was more than enough butter which was quite nice. For main I went for the steak and BBQ ribs combo plate with Jack Daniels jus sauce. The waiter said the chef normally prepares medium steak but I could have it my way, I said that I like medium well but was happy to try medium if that's what is recommended. When the steak came out it was quite nice but had definitely been cooked to medium well (no complaints). The jus was amazing and the Jack Daniels wasn't as overpowering as I remember from the previous visit. The ribs serving was also quite big. I didn't mind the ribs but did find the BBQ sauce they were covered in quite sweet and it made me feel a little sick, so I ended up scrapping some of it away. I still finished them in the end. We decided not to have desert as the menu lacked a chocolate option... I know right! Most of it was cooked fruit... Something I despise. My previous visit I remember desert being amazing. Definitely worth a visit.

My husband ordered off the 3 course set menu and chose the duck as the entree... it was a little stringy and undercooked... the fat hadn't been rendered and was still quite thick under the skin. The bread wasn't the freshest tasting... was a bit funny tasting as well. The steak was good but we couldn't really tell if it was because we were starving at 9pm after waiting so long or not. We did ask for mushroom sauce and after we had drenched the steak in it, realised they had given us pepper sauce instead. And boy was it hot. The staff were really friendly and the ribs were fine when they came out, nothing super special... our only saving grace was my Accor Club membership getting us 50% off... otherwise I'm not too sure it's worth it.

In truth, we arrived at 6:30pm and were out by 9:20pm, but it should have been a warning to us as it took 10 minutes before someone materialised to seat us despite having a booking. Only four tables were in use by customers so I'm not sure where the staff were. Anyway, we ordered the three-course meal which turned out to be a mistake. First, the waiter offered us water to which we said yes. I'm not sure where they go for their water, maybe they wait for condensation to build up somewhere and allow it to drip into the glasses. Twenty minutes go by with no sign of water or wait-staff. Finally, someone stopped by the table and asked if we'd like water, to which we reply that we are still waiting for it. The water eventually showed up but the menu also said that bread with an olive oil dipping plate would come to the table. They must have been growing the wheat because that in itself took an eternity to arrive, and it was hard and chewy which no amount of dipping could assail. Twenty minutes later the entree arrived. My duck pie was tasty, but my wife's oxtail broth was tasteless. I'm not sure what oxtail should taste like but being on the menu I'd expect it to taste of something. We finished though, and sat and chatted until a waiter shook off his cobwebs and eventuated past our table again. As my wife and I sat talking, I looked at the time and realised we'd been there an hour and a half and just finished entree. Maybe it's a restaurant designed to get couples talking. For the main, I ordered the lamb cutlets and imagined the phone call going out to the local farmer: "Hey Bob, Steakhouse here. Someone's ordered the lamb cutlets." "No worries mate, I'll get the old ewe impregnated and have a lamb to you shortly." The lamb must have arrived but given them a bit of trouble in the kitchen as the three wait-staff weren't seen by any table for some time. I can understand though, lambs can be pretty frisky little things and chasing it around a confined space such as a kitchen would test anyone. It wasn't worth the wait though; it was tough and tasteless. My wife ordered the beef rib fillet and a huge piece of meat came out with a bone attached. I think it was an entire cow though and the bone was a horn. Obviously their grill isn't big enough to fit a cow as half the meat was well-done and the other was rare. We didn't finish either of our mains, they were that underwhelming. I felt guilty for cutting short that lamb's life after it had so much frolicking fun in the kitchen with the staff. A shadow crossed our table. We looked up. The waiter was there. What was he doing there? Perhaps he'd made a mistake. He wasn't due back at the table for another 35 minutes. The waiter, brushing cobwebs off his suit, looked at our mains and wasn't sure whether to take them away. "We're done," I said, "We're looking forward to dessert." "I'll get that under way for you," he replied, ducking as I flicked a balled cobweb back in his direction. Under way? Now I have to wait for cocoa beans to grown, picked and roasted for my chocolate dessert? Fortunately the dessert didn't take long to arrive and was the best part of the night. Finally, we were done but that wasn't the end; we stood by the counter while they took 20 minutes to finalise our bill which we were just attaching to our room anyway. All through the meal we were both freezing, due to the air conditioning being on cold in the middle of winter. Perhaps it was the temperature that caused the staff to move at a glacial pace. All up, if you have almost three hours to spare for average food and wait-staff who seem to work part-time only; you'll love it!
