I was deeply concerned by the treatment of the birds displayed inside this restaurant, intended for decoration.
There are three small birds kept in a very small decorative cage with no enrichment. The cage is so confined that they cannot spread their wings, let alone fly. This is not a brief display or a quiet environment, it is a large, busy restaurant with constant noise, movement, and bright lighting.
At approximately 9pm, well after sundown, the birds were still fully exposed to intense artificial light. Their cage is positioned directly next to a decorative stick tree covered in bright white lights, close enough to almost touch the cage. The heat coming from these lights was noticeable. While the birds had water, that alone does not make this situation acceptable.
Animals are not for human entertainment or decoration. Keeping birds confined in this way, without the ability to move naturally, rest in darkness, or experience any form of enrichment, is not ethical animal care.
I raised my concerns with the manager, who acknowledged that many customers had already complained. He explained that the issue had been passed on to the owner, whose response was that this setup is "normal."
It is not normal. For many diners, this is not decoration, it is distressing. Until this is addressed, I would strongly question supporting an establishment that dismisses repeated customer concerns about animal welfare. read more
