If you choose Hogan, ask for rock and his crew. We had a not so great experience with a crew they sent first to move me last year. (Not so great is being kind). They sent Rick and his crew the next day to fix the issue (unmoved property) and they did a fantastic job. I was so impressed with the service that I got with the second crew, I called Hogan again this year for another move... Provided I got Rick. I got Rick and Mike from last year and they were kind, professional and gentle with my belongings. They had a third person that was also polite and professional. They worked hard all day. Terrible! They over charged me for the move to the storage unit. By $115 dollars told me I also had to pay for the drive from Jefferson boulevard to Cranston (where my home is located). They had me down for a time of 8am. When they did not get to my house until 9:15. So they basically drove around to run the clock for that extra 100. I give them a call immediately after and an elderly woman picked up the phone. Explained to her what had happened and she was extremely rude. She told me she will figure it out that I don't let anyone talk. That I talk too much etc. I told her I did not want to take legal action and she so oh god here we go with everyone's lawyers and hung up on me. I WILL NEVER use this company again. read more

We had used Hogans a year ago when my dad died and I needed last minute movers; we had good service at the time.... BUT NOW Hogan's apparently is run by scumbags and they're a huge nightmare. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THEM! The last week of August is basically moving companies' Black Friday/Xmas time for profit and business. We had a small move of a one bedroom apartment, booked it last week for this upcoming Tuesday. We double checked the quote on the phone for 90$ an hour for 3 men from RI to New Bedford MA. The next day they call us to let us know that the quote was totally wrong, even though the secretary double checked with a manager when we CALLED. They 'requoted' us for 110$/hr and only TWO men. Whatever, we told them it was unfair business practices but made sure that they kept our appointment. They wanted us to call should anything change and if we wanted more men (125$/hr). We thanked them and hung up. The following morning we get a voicemail letting us know our appointment was canceled because we didn't call them first thing that morning!!!! OUR MOVE WAS CANCELED ON THE BUSIEST MOVE WEEK OF THE YEAR WITH ONLY ONE BUSINESS DAY TO FIND NEW MOVERS! So, Scumbag Hogans didn't stop there! My boyfriend called them immediately when he was available, at 3pm, to ask if they could possibly rearrange our move time/date and WHY was our appointment canceled when both he and the secretary agreed it would NOT BE. The horrible woman on the phone got snippy with him, he never swore or rose his voice, and she said "Buh-bye now!" and hung up on him! So yeah, trust me... don't book with them. We found better movers last minute, by calling over 15 moving companies and asking for their recommendations of movers when we found they were all booked solid. We're filing with the Better Business Bureau, as this bait and switch and cancellations for better jobs is a big no no in business! read more

I arranged for and prepaid for 2 hours moving labor for my father. The 2 movers showed up and moved everything into a moving truck in less than an hour. I know this because I called my father during the time the movers should have been there. My father told me they had already left. The movers then had my father sign a paper on which they wrote they had completed 2 1/2 hours of labor. Hogans billed me for 2 1/2 hours while their movers only completed less than 1 hour labor. I would not do business with this company. Their movers are dishonest. read more

Inquired with them about a quote for a move , first they take forever to get back to a email ( at least a day a email ) took almost a week to get to the bottom line then finally I was told they can't do the move because it's on the 5th floor and there is no elevator , don't waste your time with this company read more

I found Hogan movers on Angieslist and the recent reviews were good. I decided to go with them and was not disappointed. Three strong men arrived on time, professionally assessed the situation and within 20 minutes had my late mother's heavy bedroom set on the truck. Less than 1 hour later Mom's bedroom set was in my house, the check was written and they were on their way. I had put off this move for over a year because of a bad experience with a moving company many years ago and I dreaded having to deal with it again. I have to say I couldn't be more pleased with Hogan Movers. Will definitely recommend edited to add: This review refers to a move that occurred in Rhode Island. My realtor referred me to them and though the reviews weren't great, my realtor has not steered me wrong. I recently bought a home and needed a move during a holiday. They were priced lower than most and funny enough that made me a bit skeptical. They arrived on time, worked extremely hard, and completed my move faster than I anticipated. Now they did have another move after mine, so I don't know if that played a part, but they were very professional and courteous. They asked for directions on where to put everything, and were sure to point out if any defects were noticed prior to moving the item. I have already referred them to friends and will continue to do so. read more

I have never dealt with such rude lazy and unprofessional people working for a moving company. I called them to move my elderly disabled father who is in a wheelchair. They were told the number of rooms and all of the information they requested in order to get an idea of the job needed to be done. When they showed up they immediately claimed there was too much stuff, and nothing was packed! (Everything was packed)They then continued on to say they could do it but it would take 6 hours they only planned a 3 hour window and were very insistent upon it costing "more" money and receiving payment despite being reassured they would be paid cash AHEAD OF TIME. Then they claimed did not bring a big enough truck with them. I was told they were going outside to contact the office to find 10 minutes later they took off. Never came back in to speak to me or my father. Unbelievable, they were awful. When my dad called the office the woman answering the phone just screamed at my father and hung up on him. If you need a moving company call Gentry moving company! They are great! read more
