I chatted on the phone with Elena to schedule a time for one of their tuners to come by my apartment. She was very helpful & pleasant, finding a time that worked for both of us. She followed up twice before the appointment - once to confirm, & another time to clarify on the parking situation after the big snow storm. Mike, the tuner, arrived exactly on time. He saw my spinet piano & let out a big sigh, informing me that this may be more difficult than we anticipated. We discussed my goals - I was hoping to return to standard tuning. He got to work on my stubborn, old piano, doing his very best to gentle tweak it back to normal. He did a wonderful job, considering the state of my piano. He honestly reported to me that he couldn't get to fine-tuning it yet, so he didn't charge me full price. I was so grateful for his effort & honesty. I will definitely be returning to Avery for all my piano needs, whether coordinating another tune with Mike or purchasing a new piano.

As you'd expect from cheap guitars the build quality needs work and NOLL managed to fix my fret buzz issue and adjustment of the neck and saddles to perfection. They even replaced the strings with the new ones I brought in with me with for a fairly decent price. They were fast with the whole process. You can tell they care for their customers and attention to detail. My guitars have never felt or even looked as good as they do now. You even get 90 day warranty along side your set up which is very convenient and courteous. My bass needed serious rehab and they fixed everything even the smallest things like the nobs and my pick up being too lose. Especially my bridge pickup as that wasn't even working properly before. I am so happy with the work done as I can now continue to practice with ease now that my bass is done correctly. As for the guitar, it is brand new and mainly needed spring adjustments which was done nicely as well. Can't wait to continue to become a better musician now with the help of NOLL Guitars. It turned out to be the "new" owner, Larry. (New because he became the owner 10 years ago, and Luca Music has been around since I used to shop at Almacs... ) The building is the exactly the same as it was in the 80s and it's well kept, so for me it's like stepping back in time when I took music lessons here. Pretty fantastic to have something so well preserved for the next generation. I told Larry what I was looking for. He did a great job showing me my options and while he showed the the nicest version of what I was looking for, he in no way pressured me to spend extra. He got me just what I wanted and even made me a nice bundle offer that I am confident got me the best deal around. He even threw in extra after the sale. We did business and then he helped carry my purchase to the car. So while we tend to forget the Small Business so often in lieu of box stores and online shipping, there's something about the time and care and appreciation I felt today at Luca Music. I would not hesitate to return or recommend.
