If I could give negative stars, I would. Do not hire this company. It took the movers 5.5 hours to move my 1 bedroom apartment less than a mile down the road. They did not bring any standard moving supplies, no blankets, pads or wraps. Literally every single piece of my wood furniture was damaged. I emailed the company the pictures of my damages and they ghosted me. They will not answer the phone, my texts or emails. I discovered they have 9 claims against them with the Better Business Bureau that have all gone unanswered. For the amount that I paid in total, I could have gotten a professional moving company and none of my things would be damaged. Whatever you do, don't buy the Groupon. It is bogus. They have all kinds of extra fees and will waste your time. At first I was impressed with how responsive they were, but ultimately they told me that since my location was 1 mile outside their Orlando range of 30 miles, in Sanford, that it wasn't even worth the gas. I communicated with them extensively before my purchase and then after, unless I wanted to pay significantly more, they would not honor the deal. They told me unless I wanted to pay the extra to cancel and get my money back. Which I did. Felt like a bait and switch. Update. An unidentified person from the number they used to contact me sent me 2 harassing messages regarding this review. I had to file a police report including screenshots of the entire transaction to get them to stop using my mobile number to disparage me personally based on this review. Be warned. My wife and I purchased a Groupon for this company's services. The team was prompt and quick to perform the move from our previous home to our storage unit. After remodeling our new home we visited the storage unit to find nearly every piece of wood furniture damaged. Thousands in damage, irreplaceable furniture. Entire pieces of trim ripped off of armoires, scratches and dings on a China cabinet and dressers. There is no customer service whatsoever...no apologies, just "send pictures". Purchased a 2-man 2-hour mover Groupon voucher and ended up returning it for a refund as credit card information is required in order to book them. I've used over a dozen movers over the years and have never provided credit card information in advance except to ship a car. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY, SCAM ALERT! I bought the Groupon for 2 hours and a truck and paid for an additional hour of service. Prompt Response from company. Confirmed the appointment the day before. The 2 guys showed up(2 hours late) in the smallest u-haul box truck available. When I registered, I told the company I was moving from a three bedroom two story town home. The 2 guys told me they had been miss informed and that they would be back with a bigger truck. After an hour we tried to call and text the driver. The driver told us that he was on his way back. After an additional half an hour had passed we received a text from the driver stating he would be back the next day with a bigger truck. I contacted his supervisor and the supervisor confirmed that the movers could not get a bigger truck that day but would be back the morning by 930am. The next morning, the movers never showed up!!! I was a day late moving out of my town home (was charged additional by the rental company) and had to rent a U-haul and find someone to help me move! This was a costly and very disappointing experience!!! HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!! I am filing a small claims suit against them in court to get my money back as they have not refunded my money and seem to have an issue performing a refund. Therefore a judge will order a full refund, the cost of my court fees and additional money I had to pay my rental property company because I was not moved out on the date I needed to be. What a terrible experience! I was moving from a small townhouse (1500 sqft) to a house 2 miles away. What should have taken 2 hours, 3 tops, took them 5 HOURS with 3 guys!! They moved like they were being paid by the hour!! Oh wait, they were!! For every extra hour over the 2 that you pay for, you pay extra. Don't think because you buy the 2 hours, that they will get the move done in 2 hours. They also charge extras for 2 floors, securing a move time, extra stops, heavy/hard to move items etc. The big reason for the 1 star review...they tried to claim I broke my own furniture!! They claimed I broke a dresser that had been sitting in my bedroom for 5 years! The huge chunk that they broke was clean! They also scratched my stainless steel fridge...which they also claimed I moved!! I was flabbergasted that a company would try and blame the customer for something their employees did! Their employees had taken a picture of me helping them take the door off the fridge so they could fit it through the kitchen counters. The picture shows me on a ladder!! LOL My suggestion to you if you use this company...1. Get everything in writing. 2. Make sure you don't touch anything of yours during the move. Let them do it all. 3. Photograph ALL of your expensive items (things you would be mad if they broke) 4. Video them if it looks like things are going wrong or are about to break things (BIG HELP FOR YOU TO DO THIS) 5. At the end, make sure you DOCUMENT EVERYTHING they broke/damaged on their invoice that they make you sign Now even if you do ALL OF THOSE THINGS...they are going to claim that their insurance will only pay $0.60/lb for any damages. So if for instance they broke something that will cost $200 to fix and it only weighs 100lbs, they are only going to offer you $60. You are out the $140 difference. Now if they damaged a bunch of stuff, they are going to try and lowball you and offer you $150 and give you a sob story about how their insurance rates will go up and we would like to offer you $150 to settle. Purchased their service through Groupon, it was a huge mistake. The individual who responded to my call gave me directions on what to do and I believed it was okay until he became very demanding. For example, I should rush to book my time so I won't lose the date, even though he told me it was available. Next, it was the additional costs, some he claimed were mandatory. I immediately regretted choosing the company. Frankly, they were not my first choice, it was a default as the company I initially chose was not available on the date I needed. After paying for the additional charges, he sent me a message with a coupon to use if the move took longer than two hours. Go elsewhere! My initial experience with Hoffmann was great with minimal hiccups. I paid for a specific time slot, the guys called me hours in advance asking to come and when I informed them of the time slot I'd purchased they called me as the time range was closing and didn't show up until the time range was over. I didn't complain instead let them get to work. They were two extremely fit guys who moved quick so I appreciated that. I left them both with great tips - one even called the next day saying how much he appreciated it, because they worked hard and got the job done efficiently. My next experience was nothing but disappointment. Two gentlemen showed up 45 minutes after my 30 minute warning call and explained that the line for their Chinese food was longer than usual. They were slow - in comparison to my first experience with Hoffmann, and we noticed long periods of time without seeing them. From the glass second story I saw them both taking a smoke break in a service that I was paying for by the hour. Not to mention they'd grab small individual items at a time and take them to the truck. Eventually my family and I said we would do it ourselves and took the smaller items to the truck for them. It still took them twice as long as the other guys to do the same work. On the way to the storage unit where my stuff was to be placed, we were sitting there waiting on them and we left at the same exact time from the same place. The storage unit was 2 miles from the initial residence, it took us 10 minutes to get there but them 45 minutes. So when they did initially show up I asked why, they said they had to stop and get another person to assist, and a 3rd man came out of no where. I said it was fine but common sense would know to make a phone call and let the customer know that! He said I wouldn't be charged for the 30 minutes, that's a given I didn't ask for you to take the detour. Eventually everything was unloaded from the truck, with the help of my dad and brother (whom did the majority of the work). Then I still was charged for extra time, which was unfortunate given the first guys moved the same stuff within 2 hours...but I guess you throw in a couple 15 minute smoke breaks and detours to pick up friends, stuff adds up. Not to mention something happened on their end with the payment in their end and the mover called me at 9pm that evening pushing me for payment. How rude! It was a technical issue on your end, not mine, so don't rush me at that point. I was still pleasant and left extremely generous tips since I was planning on using them again for my next job. I reached out to Hoffmann a week before another move asking for availability and discounts for repeat customers. They said they were available and were generous enough to provide a repeat customer code. Considering closing was thrown off due to the hurricane, I booked online 2 days before the move - only 2 days after my initial contact with them. Since I hadn't received a confirmation email I reached out to make sure everything was okay, they told me I'd have to be billed separately for the late booking fee and invoice amount. This $75 fee was never communicated to me so of course I inquired about having it waived for reduced since we were still more than 24 hours from the move and it was never discussed with me. Long story short, I was told that they would be mad about adding a job this late and they didn't want it anyways so no there was nothing that could be done about the fee. Talk about disappointment on customer service especially for a repeat customer. I promptly took my business to KnightSpeed! They were able to offer me a better rate than Hoffmann and also guarantee a time (without the added fee) and it was in even shorter notice than I'd given Hoffmann. The gentlemen showed up, treated my valuables like they do their own and I am thoroughly impressed. Booked with a guy named Mike on the phone, assured me that the movers would arrive at 8 am in the morning for a 2 hr move. Moving day at 8 am after texting I was told the office made a mistake and they movers would arrive at 12 after the 1st job... this turned into 3pm then the second shift.... 4pm and finally 6:45 2 guys arrived. Not in a moving truck but a pickup with a long long trailer. One guy was nice and quite talkative but his English was not good. The other guy said little. They were both exhausted saying that this was their 3rd job today. Took 3 hrs despite the fact that all the boxes had been moved by me via car so all they really had was furniture. When we arrived at my new home it took the other guy about 20 minutes to park the truck in my driveway(blocking my neighbors driveway). After they got everything out of the trailer and in the garage the other guy went to move the truck and was gone for 20 minutes. When he arrived back he smelt of pott(i could care less what he smoked just not on my dime). Total move was about 3 hrs but like i said they were exhausted. The movers were awesome! Called me at least 25 minutes before arrival. Once they arrived they immediately began working. They moved as quickly as possible to complete the job. I liked the fact for my larger furniture that would be stored in the storage unit they asked for something to cover it before wrapping to protect my wood. They only thing that I didn't like was that my furniture wasn't wrapped all the way to the bottom of the couch. But I'm sure if I saw it before putting it in the storage unit they would of fixed it. I had lazy and lazier show up LATE to move only 6 pieces of furniture that I couldn't move on my own. 2 beds, 2 dressers, loveseat and a 2 chair kitchen table. I told them upon arrival that I do NOT want them to stay longer than the 2 hour time frame I paid with my groupon. They told me there was no way it would take that long to move these pieces. Three hours later (they have all my belongings on the truck) they made me resign paperwork I signed when they arrived now that they added a handwritten paragraph stating they are not responsible for any damage to the house or my personal items. It took 3.5 hours to finish the job with an addition 190$ charge for the extra 1.5hours. They charged tax on a service which is illegal and the movers bitched about how no one ever tips them because of it. This is the experience I had (and the exact email I sent to the owner, Steven, who has of course not responded) **update as of 10/13 the BBB has marked a red flag against them for not responding back to the BBB as required. They have a D rating and the owner never replied as well*** Hi Steven, I rarely ever complain...so this was hard for me to do. I had movers come yesterday. The parked along the street in front of the neighbors completely blocking her vehicle and drive way. My driveway was open and available for use; the driver didn't want to use the driveway even when I asked that he does. This then caused additional time to move since they had to literally walk down the driveway and to the neighbor's driveway to load. When they went to remove my mattress they dragged it across the floor and down the stairs and then out of the house. The whole side of my less than 6 months old mattress is completely dirty requiring professional cleaning as it is a hybrid memory foam bed. While coming down the stairs with items, they knocked pictures off the wall and banged my dresser into the front door and then again on the door frame. As they went to wrap up my glass table tops, their tape wouldn't work. It took over 10 minutes to try to get the tape to work as theirs was stuck together. I finally found my moving tape to expedite things along and provided to the movers. The movers were not prepared with appropriate tools to get the feet off my couch to get it downstairs. All it needed was a manual screw driver and then the couch would have fit through the door. My boyfriend was able to get the couch up the stairs and into the bedroom by simply removing the feet with a manual screw driver. So after them trying to get the door frame off and the couch out which was another 25 minutes, I told them to leave the couch since I knew this was going to keep racking up hourly rates. I now have another moving company coming this evening to move the couch and the remaining items that were left behind. Once we got to the new place, the movers put the second bedroom set, the bed that they disassembled at the originating address and placed it in the destination bedroom in pieces. I had to request they put the bed together. I subsequently was charged an additional 1.5 hours. The guys kept saying they had to go to another job in Orlando afterwards. This to me is unacceptable and I feel that the guys intentionally moved very slow and took their time. I had a small move and it should not have taken almost 4 hours to complete. I am not one to complain but paying the amount that I did to move and having to hire now a second company to finish the job that your guys couldn't is very disappointing. It APPEARED they did a good job; they wrapped everything and I was actually impressed at that time. I went to my storage unit, months later, to move my items back and actually got a good look at what they did-- Somewhere between my home and them loading everything into the storage unit, they DESTROYED my furniture. Literally had chunks taken out of my solid wood (VERY EXPENSIVE) furniture. Several pieces, not just one. They completely destroyed an armoire (cannot be fixed) that is worth over $1000. They took chunks out of other furniture that were very expensive and some that were antiques. Honestly, they have caused thousands of dollars worth of damage. I reported this to them (money can't "fix" this, but I wanted some resolution)... and it has now been 7 months that I have been "working" with Mike who has offered me $.60/pound for the damaged furniture. This was a couple hundred dollars-- I had to get rid of the armoire it was so badly damaged and a couple hundred dollars would not even replace that. After giving him weights, measurements, photos, and FOLLOWING UP-- This A-hole still has not responded or sent the measly check. Please boycott companies like this who DON'T CARE about their customers. I made a huge mistake buying a groupon- I will never do this again. I would NEVER recommend this company or use them again, I had everything with the exception of 3 dressers- which were too heavy- in my front room already, advised them I had a 4bdr home, I broke everything down already, and I had french doors (makes moving easy) so you would think. (anytime someone moves who has a large amount of furniture, whether you hire someone or you get a truck and do it yourself), you know to pile things on top of one another unless indicated Fragile, or you can see it is breakable... not this company, everything would not fit in the truck because the couch was laying down flat and nothing was loaded on it, everything was at just one level, so even it I didn't care if they went over the two hours they would have had to make 2 trips to fit the way they loaded the truck. My movers arrived at 9:45am, were not done until 1:45pm, they come in take pictures of everything they are supposed to move (but didn't move everything, i had to rent a uhaul and pay someone else to help), I had them leave my home in 45 minutes, to give drive time and also time to unload, they move very slow, they are NOT experienced movers, they don't know how to pack the truck so all of my items did not fit in the truck. I had to tell them how to load things into my storage unit. (they are nice as in how they talk to you- they are Brazilian and don't really understand English very well, based on what they say, and ask you to talk very slow). There were times they would just be standing in the truck looking at the items that were already loaded. The movers loaded my items onto the elevator to my storage with their dolly on top of my boxes and sends the elevator upstairs, the dolly gets caught on the top of the elevator and smashed two of my boxes, one was okay because it only had pillows in it and bedding the other had glass and canvas pictures in it, which broke, the men were apologetic, and taped the box back up, but my decorative pictures are now broken and my glasses. One mover claimed to have sprained his ankle the day before (which is why he was slow), however a friend of mines had used their service the weekend before (I had already bought my Groupon and could not cancel), and she told me he said the same thing to her the day they moved her furniture. When ONLY being able to text the person at the 857 # told them about the situation, they told me I packed wrong and told me they could fix the items, (I am thinking how, with glue??) that I am trying to ruin their business. I advised them that I would rather someone post the truth so others can be made aware, but to be blamed for packing wrong, when their dolly got caught and smashed my boxes based on how they loaded it, would say that is all on them. My frames and glasses were also surrounded by plush comforters and pillows, not only that but individually wrapped and placed carefully in the box so they don't break. They exceeded the two hours and lied to their manager that the work was done in the 2 hours because they wanted me to pay them under the table for the remaining hours. (which was $60.00). read more

Horrible experience...Scheduled to move on a Saturday, called Friday to see what time they were to come, and they said they would call me at 8pm and let me know. They didn't, so I emailed them at 8pm, after they didnt answer my call, said they didnt have a reservation for me, because there was a problem with my address, and that they had emailed me about that issue. They hadnt, and were not able to find that email. Then the movers were sooooo slow...Three bedroom apt, and after 5 hours still hadnt gotten everything out of the apartment, with my dad, sister, and myself carrying things out as well. Truck was too small, 16ft, could not fit everything. We had to take two more trips with our 3 cars to get the rest of my things. Not a good experience AT ALL. We purchased a Groupon for two movers for two hours. First window was Monday between 4-7pm. They called to say they probably couldn't start until 10pm. Should have known then that they were slow. We switched to Wednesday 4-7. They showed up on time but were VERY SLOW movers. Fiancé tried to get in touch with the dispatcher to help speed things up, no response. The mover did let me know that if I wanted him to wrap all of the furniture for protection it would take longer and cost more, but they put blankets on everything and would be careful. He said they were still required to wrap mirrors and tv's. While he wrapped my dresser mirror, put a huge scratch on it. Another huge scratch on my dresser. Some boxes were delivered to new house upside down. The movers didn't have a lot of strength, struggled to move some things and were clearly tired, probably overworked. I had 2sofas, 3 normal weight bookcases, 1 bedroom set, dining set, tv and a normal amount of boxes from a house, took them 3 HOURS to load it. It seemed like they had a hard time deciding how to pack everything in the trailer that they brought, not sure how many times they've moved before. So, 5 hours later and an additional $450, in top of the paid Groupon, with only a 15 minute drive, the move was done. Fiancé sent a text back to dispatcher/owner about the poor experience, with no response. WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY. If I could rate this with less stars, I would. I book with Hoffman Movers online and received a prompt text message telling me there was availability for my requested day although they could not confirm a time of arrival until the day of. This was not completely unreasonable so I figured we would go ahead and confirm. The dispatcher or person on the other end of the text message told me to go on the website and pay additional fees (around $50) for assembly. I asked ONE single question regarding that fee. In 4 minutes (no lie, just 4 minutes between text messages) the person at Hoffman Movers told me to "Hurry Up" "Move quickly" "Imperative that you do this (pay the additional fee) right away" "do it quickly" and also suggested for an additional $50 fee that I could "purchase an arrival window" basically, they tell me when the movers will get there. The question of assembly was never answered and the Hoffman Movers person only continued to pressure me to go on-line and pay the fee. Mind you there were just 4 minutes that passed between text messages. It was unbelievable! When I stated "Geeze... just book without the assembly fee and we'll figure it out later" the person immediately cancelled the order, stated that I was being rude and disrespectful and that they had "sold over 8,000 Groupons" and didn't have time for me. Clearly this company has bitten off more than they can handle and have no regard for customer service. There were half a dozen other moving companies with the same exact deal, but employees who took the extra 2 minutes to clarify any fees. Do NOT hire this company. Worst moving experience ever. I was scheduled for movers to arrive between noon and 3 and scheduled for 6 hours which was reasonable given my 2 bedroom condo. The two movers came with a TRAILER and not a truck. They did not know what a nut and bolt was to take apart the two beds in the house, and it took them a full 30 minutes to back the trailer into position near the condo. They began moving at 12:30pm and did not finish loading the truck at my condo until 7pm. I had scheduled an additional stop at my storage space 15 minutes away, but because they brought a trailer and not a truck, no additional room was left in the trailer to stop at the storage space. The movers drove 25 minutes to my new house after loading the condo and unloaded the contents in 1 hour; that right there tells you that they didn't need to take 6.5 hours to load the trailer. My storage space closes its gate at 9pm, so I called the owner and asked if the movers could return the next day to finish the job. The owner rudely says to me, "I hope you appreciate this; I walked out of a movie theatre to answer your call." Excuse me?!!! This is YOUR business. The owner sent me an invoice for the 9 hours they used that day, and another 3 hours to finish the job the following day. I was told that the movers would meet me at the storage space between 8 and 11am the next day. The next day, I had not received a call, so by 8:30am I went over to the storage space. I waited there until 10:30am (2 hours with a 3 year old in the car with me!!!) and then called the owner again. No response. He finally calls me back at 11am saying that, "I'm sorry, today was my day off and I just got up. Let me find out where the movers are." He calls and says they are on their way and that there was a mix-up--the movers went back to my condo instead of the storage unit. Another 40 minutes later, they finally show up to the storage space at noon; mind you, I was told they'd arrive anywhere between 8am-11am. They loaded by storage space within 45 minutes, drove to my house, and unloaded in another 30 minutes. Again, proof that the 9 hour job they did the day before didn't need to take that long. The owner agreed to give me a $100 refund for them being late that day. And then bribed me for another $20 discount if I wrote a positive Google review. After the terrible service I received (slow movers, didn't finish the job as scheduled, rude owner, and movers being late the next day) I was SHOCKED that the owner would have the gull to ask for a positive Google review. No thanks...my husband and I could have moved our own things faster....... and cheaper than these clowns. Don't waste your time with these guys--they will add more stress, rather than alleviate the stress of moving. read more
