Shitty service, they sold me a rifle and a pistol I spent well over 500 dollars and when I have problems with the products they tell me there's nothing they can do and it was something I did that caused the issues, now I have a Glock 45 that doesn't hold green gas in the mag and a ar-15 that the hop up doesn't work don't wants your money here only purchase from a place that has a 30 day warranty from the store, very disappointed and really ruined my first experience with airsoft read more

My first visit there was on a Friday about an hour before close. The store was not busy and we were greeted by multiple eager employees behind the counter. They'd kids actually have a passion for what they sell and did an outstanding job explaining the differences of the R/C cars we were looking for. With the amazing selection of replacement parts and the newfound knowledge of racing, I was comfortable buying here. This store feels like a mix between Toys-R-Us and FAO Schwartz with a small department store feel. Prices for what we were looking for were comparable. me and a buddy went to buy new airsoft guns to get into airsofting, I have an issue the day of the purchase and return with the gun and everything and ask for a refund but they won't give me one and insist that it's the bbs that I'm using and they send me on my way. a few days later I'm still haveing the same problem with gun and now I can't return it so I wouldn't buy from them again bc they don't do any kind of warranty read more

This place is amazing! I got re-involved in RC aircraft a couple of years ago after a 25 year absence. The people at this store have been more helpful than any store of any kind I've ever shopped in. The staff from top to bottom are extremely knowledgeable and helpful. Two of my grandsons have taken interest in RC cars as well as RC airplanes. They have been assisted in so many ways by the staff in this store. To make things even better, the inventory at this store is so extensive that they are likely to have anything hobby related you could want-if they don't they will get it! read more

After easily spending over $500 there over Christmas for my three younger brothers, and being a recurring customer for several years now. I found myself with a putrid distaste in my mouth when I attempted to return a set of rear springs for an RC car that my 13 year old brother purchased over the summer, incorrectly given in place of the front springs he requested. These springs were unopened and still had the 4.99 price tag with the Hobby Lobby tag on them. I could go on to note that every time I go there, I end up having to make another trip because something is not right/ missing/ etc, but that is not my complaint today. My brother lives in Dixon and having to make a special trip for a $5 return within the 30 day window seems a little ridiculous, especially when the reason for the return was the fault of being sold the wrong part. Either way when I went to checkout another $45ish dollar purchase, I was refused the return. I gave my brother the $5 and donated the part back to them. You're welcome, Hobbytown! P.S. I also got my brothers a Space Rail set from them for Christmas for us to build together. Upon our initial opening of the package. (More than 30 days after purchase, as my brothers live in Dixon) I realize there are parts missing from the box. Am I going to drive across town to attempt a return/exchange and deal with that bad attitude and condescending behavior that awaits me? I think I'll eat the $60 and save myself the headache... So I guess this could double as a Space Rail review. The packaging some of the pieces come in are extremely cheap plastic. (Think cellophane of a cigarette wrapper). After opening, I noticed some ripped bags and a few missing pieces upon taking inventory. Buy at your own risk. Needless to say my younger brothers persistent requests to patronize your establishment will fall on deaf ears from this point on as unfortunate as that is for all parties involved. Sorry for your ignorance at successful business practices Hobbytown... Don't spend that $5.00 all in one place now. read more

Quickly after deciding to purchase an RC plane a stock check in the Northern Illinois area showed this location with everything in stock. Having never been in a Hobbytown store I didn't know what to expect. For a fact this location has an amazing selection and significant stock on hand with employees who clearly care about customer satisfaction. read more

Most helpful and knowledgeable staff. As a new RC enthusiast, from the cars (bought one, needed another to race my son!) to extra batteries, quick chargers, replacement parts (we were really beating them up!) have all been available from this local HobbyTown and at the same prices as other online hobby sites! Nice girl behind the counter spent more than 1/2 hour with us newbies and when I decided to put my purchase on pause (kind of a dent in my budget), she kept on being the happy, smiley helper! the owner is a real d***. He solt me a faulty RC helicopter. When i brought it back first thing the next day all he would say is "leave now" I dont care im not exchanging it" and i was getting some work done on aother helicopter i have just for maitenence. He threw it on the counter as he was kicking me out and said " this is yours too. It flew fine when i brought it in got home and wouldnt fly. As i look at it its missing peices. When i called out there and asked for my parts which arent cheap he said "you are not getting them better order new ones" And that was the owner John Curtis. Totally blew my mind. This place has gone down hill considerably since the old manager / guy that ran the entire operation has left to open his own HobbyTown store. The new manager Brian ( young kid ) is extremely rude and not kid friendly at all ! They are only friendly now when you are making a purchase ! Selling product that is for older kids to adults to trusting parents for younger youth ! Take the extra time and go to the old managers brand new Hobby Town and get the knowledge that you deserve as parents buying for your kids ! read more

This store is honestly the best and only one of its kind in the immediate area for RC craft. That being said, the staff are some of the most arrogant, condescending, misinformed brats one could come across. A few words with the manager about this issue resolved the source. I would seriously recommend doing your research about what you want before going in as a one on one q&a with the staff will result in you feeling like the local hot dog salesman is trying to self righteously sell you a filet mignon in a bun without explaining why it looks like a hot dog. He showed me something that wouldn't work, then just dismissed me, without even trying to help. He did suggest eBay - gee thanks. Been into the store on multiple occasions and always have had a negative experience with the store manager. A manager should delight new customers to provide them with a positive experience. But instead I feel as if I am an inconvenience to him because I am newer to RC. Not to mention their return policy is terrible. I tried to return an item 2 days after purchase because it would not operate correctly and I was accused of damaging it. read more
