Select bait can be found in "supercenters" but it isn't the same. You don't find many minnow vendors nearby. They have a decent array of tackle for all pan to muskie fisherman. I was excited to see their big some of their sinkers were. Perfect for the fast current spots on the Rock or Mississippi river. They have, high-quality, unique gear on display in case you broke your rod when closing your power window, like I did...twice.. But most importantly, you find local knowledge. This location is near Busse Lake. Though bombarded by weekend warriors, is actually a great lake to fish, if you know where they're biting. Lee's knows. Fisherman word of mouth travels through bait shops, so you know Lee's has the valuable pro tips. Don't be afraid to ask for advice from them.

I even stop here when i go on longer trips to the Illinois River because of the reliability and the quality of the live bait. The Hours of Operation are really functional for the avid fisherman. They are open 6:00 AM-8:00 PM M-F; 5:00 AM-8:00 PM SAT and 5:00-6 PM on SUN. It should be noted that I AM NOT AFFILIATED WITH LEE'S IN ANY WAY SHAPE OR FORM---I AM JUST AN AVID FISHERMAN!!! I believe that any store, small or large that caters to their customers the way Lee's does, deserves praises. Got the fish when it was 4 inches long so when it died after 10 years, I decided to have it mounted. Most taxidermy shops only do game fish but the owner at this place had no problem doing my Koi. The service took about 4 months to complete and I was very happy with the way it turned out. The color scheme was exactly like the fish when it was alive and it was positioned on the plaque as I had requested. Use them for your fish. Use them for your fish.
