Previous interactions with Inkwell Books have been a 5 star. I got some great recommendations for…read morebooks and so far loved all the ones I bought. The price is what I would expect for an independent bookstore. However, the bookstore recently changed hands and I'm updating my opinion to a 3 star. It's totally cool for you to want to update things and make it your own but there is a way to communicate that to customers without being negative about the previous owners. There is a diverse selection of books in the store already--pointing to your black daughter and talking about how you want to increase diversity in the store not cool. Also saying to your daughter "this is our new store not a place for you to lounge around" within earshot of customers not cool. I won't be going back. I will be giving my money to Elmside Books in Milton and Thirst in Milwaukee instead.
