This place was odd. The comics aren't filed beyond letter. Meaning that Superman title you're looking for could be anywhere among the "S" bins. Imagine if WhatNot had a physical store, this would be the perfect embodiment! 1) Buying/Selling Single Cards When you buy a card, they'll sell you the card at market price based on TCGplayer. But they charge you for the price of the highest price and best condition card. My gripe is, they sold me cards at MINT condition pricing, but the cards were at best LP or P condition. It's hard to see the blemishes at the store, because the lighting is so drab. And of course, once you buy the card, automatic no refunds My heart sank as I was examining my newly purchased cards, prepping to send them to PSA, and suddenly noticing bends in the corner and creases in the center of the cards When selling a card, they will bring the card to the back room for better inspection, obviously a room with better lighting. Because we all know that the lighting in the lobby is dim on purpose. Then they'll try to lowball you by telling you that the card is "not mint" and has random damages here and there. Which then, they'll only offer you half the amount of the lowest asking price (not considering the condition of the card in TCG, ex. offer you half the price of a Heavily played condition card, while the card you brought was Near Mint) 2) Staff They employ younger staff, probably demographic of college students. These kids were nice. They were doing the best they can with customer service. Some of them do show that they are struggling a bit with standard operations, but i can't really fault them for that. The managers however are NOT pleasant. Caleb seems like he is there more to chat and halfheartedly do the work. I saw him often, but i don't think he's the owner. Anyway the dude rips me off with the extremely inflated "market pricing" and looks me in the eye as i'm paying overpriced and damaged cards. Then he acts like the victim when I refuse to sell my pristine cards at such a lowball offer. And the funniest thing is, while peering at the selection at the card counter, the dude was patting himself on the back and openly bragging about he he was able to nickel and dime a desperate seller out of extremely japanese pokemon cards. But then again, acted like the victim when he can't lowball you. Wow....just wow.... There the other manager, dude with rough hair and glasses. Not bald, like Caleb. At first he seemed nice, but he tries to channel Caleb's toxic practice and act all tough. 3) Online Purchases I ordered some items online before ever visiting the physical store. Boy howdy, they sent me damaged boxes that I preordered. Though, yes I understand that the the physical store may not have been the ones directly handling the online order and probably operates from a separate warehouse. So I'm not faulting the store for that, but just understand that even the online experience was no good either. All i can wish is the best for them, but i'm certainly not coming back. They insist on price matching TCGplayer, but ironically TCGplayer offers better customer service, cards that are actually mint condition, and accountability. read more

Man, this used to be the place for pokemon, the "market" price they go off of is crazy, cards going for 160 ungraded they have priced at 300 with damage, each new product they match market to "compete with scalpers" but they are literally just scalping but with a stream of inventory. I loved this place, I grew up with it, but everytime I walk in, it just reminds me they are no better, new set retailing for $60 day one? Naw try 120. They are no better than the people grabbing inventory to flip, sucks to see but greed takes all, at least I can still look at the singles though and some of the workers I love and a joy to be around, just don't think this place is fitting anymore for the go to card store read more

My group and I refuse to play here. The owner is ban happy and has banned more than one person for petty reasons. The owner wants to come off as professional but refuses to even speak with those he bans. I will forever take my business to Cataclysm Games, Bargain Hunters, Robin's Nest, CT's Hobbies, The Board Room, Forever Forward Games, etc. The other shops better suited for all these TCGs and Collectibles because there is better leadership, prices, products, and turnout at these other locations. Their owner will actually speak with you if there is an issue. There is no pretending to be big, bad, and tough while hiding and refusing to speak with customers. read more

TLDR: Wonderful customer service, and more than willing to educate and be patient with young (7 year old) enthusiasts to the Pokemon card hobby. Our 7 year old son is just nuts for Pokemon, but my wife and I know nothing about the cards or the game. We went in to Top Cut with our son and he had his Pokemon binder with him. One of the employees, Caleb, immediately asked us how he could help. He went through our sons entire collection, pointed out some rare cards, and educated us on some of his cards which were fake (super interesting) and some that were valuable. He was very patient with us, and helped our son pick out a few new cards for his collection. I was blown away with Caleb's knowledge of the cards. Caleb is why we will no longer go to gamestop, but to a local shop that is willing to educate us and provide fantastic customer service. We will be back, and we will also be telling others about the incredible experience. read more

The store is mainly Funko Pops now, most of the gaming stuff now gone. The owner Mike is quite rude. He threatened to blackball me all over town when I left a negative review on Facebook. But before that, he told me to bring my comics in, then blew me off when I got there. Wouldn't even come out of the office to look or apologize to me for a wasted trip. Just kept whining to his employee that he was too busy. Prices there aren't great either. read more

Wanted to pick up a single pack of the lord of the rings magic collectors packs. MSRP on these were originally $12.99 on the wizards of the coast site. Went to buy a pack and they wanted over $40 before tax. Their reasoning: "we have to compete with resellers." What a garbage statement that can literally be translated: we are greedy and are price gouging as much as we can get away with. What a terrible way to run a business, I will never be returning. read more

I've been going to top cut comics since July 12th 2013. I get all my comics there through subscription which means the put them on a file until I come in and get them. You want magic the gathering well the have that too. Othe card games they've got them. Board games too. Puzzles, Pops, D&D if you want it they most likely have it if. I purchased the Pokemon 150 assorted cards with collective tin for my grandson for Christmas. My son who is an experienced collector informed me that he had actually seen this item before. He said it looked as if these cards had been gone through and the better cards had been removed, it was packaged completely different, there were no foils as described in the description, it was just a POOR quality product. I am very disappointed by your product and will never purchase anything that your company sales again. The tin was the only positive thing about this purchase. read more

My favorite comic book/ geek store when I visit Rockford. Was formerly Tomorrow is Yesterday but new owners came in 2 yrs ago. Still the same layout tho pretty much. owner is real nice and friendly and will help u find what u need. they have a dedicated rpg section or war hammer type tabes for table top battles. they plan to add more inventory later. plan on visiting this location again for sure when I am here. read more

This place is a real gem in the Rockford / Loves Park area. Rockford does not have much to offer young people but the former Tomorrow is Yesterday is truly a special place being in business well over 2 decades. Pros: - Completely serviceable to any dork or geek (like me). Has everything you would expect out of a comic book store (Comics, toys, trading cards, games) - Has a tournament card room, vending machines, and even a public restroom. This place could keep your kid busy for hours, maybe half a day with tournaments - Amazing selection of games. Game upon games, featuring games you have never heard of. - Knowledgeable staff. I challenged one of their employees to recommend a game specifically for 5 dudes that would last 5 hours with a short learning curve and good replay value. He did not disappoint - Staff has been known to do special orders for me, but it is hit and miss. Con's - Some stuff you'll be able to find cheaper on eBay, and one may think they are over priced. So what? Its a comic store. Vices get expensive - No real software presence. I'm just tossing this out there as an FYI. Your standard geek/nerd/dork one stop shop. My vice when I was younger was role playing books and Magic cards, but their comic selection was not half bad either. The staff was always helpful and excited to show you the stuff, they would even try to out dork you. A one-of-a-kind place for the area. read more

They are a PokeStop and from now on, on Saturdays from 12pm-6pm, they will have lure modules going on for Pokemon Go. So go buy some comics, or cards and play Pokemon. read more

i have been going to this place about once or twice about every month. great place to get yugioh/pokemon/magic cards. they also have a large collection of comic books, along with some board games and merch. the staff is really friendly, and will help you if they got time. the 1st time i was getting into yugioh, the staff gave me tips and advice on how to get better. heck, one of the employees even gave me a free card! they have a good and diverse inventory, and the tournaments are well organized. i played in a few pkkemon gatherings, even though they weren't necessarily tournaments, they were still fun, though. my point is, they have a well organized staff, a diverse selection of cards, games, and comics,and the staff is awesome. if you live about 15 or 10 minutes away, even 20. this place is well worth the stop. go check it out! read more
