I love this store and I have been there several times, but checkout is sometimes difficult. At my first visit to the store, the clerk asked if I had a rewards membership. I told her I once had a premium account but I thought it had lapsed and I might need to renew. She asked which kind of membership I had and I told her I wasn't sure. She told me I had to know or she couldn't process it. She entered my phone number and rang up the order as a basic membership. I let it go and shopped there a few more times without being asked which type of membership I had. Last Friday, I was waiting to check out, and the woman ahead of me was asked for her phone number to enter for rewards. When I checked out, I wasn't asked so I asked the clerk if she didn't want to enter my phone number for rewards. She was generally kind of rude but did enter the numbee and didn't ask about a membership type. When I got out to my car, I logged into my account. It indicated that I had a basic membership but listed the differences between the basic and premium and allowed me to upgrade. I upgraded without incident. I think the staff should know how to access the membership type and should be able to upgrade for you if you are willing to pay the cost of a premium account. The staff on the floor seem nice and helpful but checking out could be a more pleasant experience. read more

One of the few bookstores around. There are very rare bookstores around now with the Internet but this Barnes & Noble had CDs and they go as far as the back as records it was a real nice soothing way to enter the mall read more

I have probably been to over a hundred Barnes & Nobles in my lifetime. No matter what state I am traveling in if I see a Barnes & Noble I will stop. This one is in my top five! They had a wonderful magazine department and everyone there that we encountered was very friendly. The bargain section had a lot of great books that I have not seen at other Barnes and Nobles. All of the new books are nicely laid out and are easy to find. In all of the Barnes and Nobles that I have been to I have never been offered a sample beverage from the cafe. A bookseller was walking around giving out samples of peppermint frappuccinos which were delicious. My daughter and I bought several magazines. I could have spent all day there but we were on our way to Galena. One of my general complaints about Barnes & Noble is that I feel like the people working there don't even like books lol. I've never been engaged in a conversation about books or recommended books even when I've asked. It's like I've asked them about rocket science. You definitely don't get the same sense from these booksellers then what you would experience at an independent bookstore. There have been countless times where I have overheard a person ask a B&N Bookseller for a book recommendation and the bookseller was way off or would only suggest the most popular titles. Sometimes I would step in if convenient to join the conversation and offer additional suggestions (yeah I read a lot). That comment aside I really did enjoy this Barnes and Noble and hope to come back soon. read more

Had a terrible experience while trying to order coffee & pastry at Starbucks inside Barnes & Noble. Store manager was even worse in that she didn't try and straighten the issue out. Guess the customer is never right in this store. I have always been a regular B & N customer but will do all my book shopping at Amazon going forward. read more

Nice folks, all the usual accoutrements of a Barnes and Noble (including the coffee shop) and a well stocked collection of adult and children's books. There is a play area with a train-set and access to lots of great kid's books. I am glad that B&N has reinvented itself as a library like space, i am sure this place is a big part of what is helping Cherry Vale mall stay afloat. read more

Started a series of books , in the middle of course. I've been searching for the first few forever. Could never find them, so I asked if they could be ordered. The clerk was very nice and looked on the computer. The books are now on order and I should have them in about a weeks time at the on the shelf price. GREAT! read more

This is a great Barnes and Noble. Really friendly staff, lots of space, and a café. Someone gave this place 2 stars and wrote that they were angry there were more gay and lesbian books than aviation and military books. Well people care more about sex and love than war and flying. Ha! There is lots of great books worth buying and an awesome calendar collection. I love Barnes and Nobles. read more

I like the B&N, but some people in there are rude. Don't take any photos while in there(store managers policy). This store has a Starbucks for drinks and treats, mediocre food can also be purchased. The free wi-fi is also a plus. read more

There is a reason why I completely dislike these big chain bookstores and today it was solidified. They refused to allow a return, for store credit (I did not ask for staright cash) a GIFT that was still shrink-wrapped with the GIFT RECEIPT intact after the 60 days return policy. Nevermind the fact that I love 80 miles from the nearest B&N. Poor and horrible customer service. read more

I went to buy some board books for my nieces' babies. E-mail advertised all board books priced $9.99 and under were $4.99. I picked up 2 copies of 3 different books. When I checked out 2 rang up full price. Cashier called someone over. I was told one wan't included because it was in the religious section and that "Pat the Bunny" was not a board book. I pointed out that "Pat the Bunny" was in the board book section with a sign just above it and that the sign and e-mail and sign said "ALL" board books. She said once again that "Pat the Bunny" was not a board book and the sign meant only the one section. I was again said "that's not what it says." She replied that she didn't make the rules and that's the way it was. I left without buying anything. When I look at the e-mail when I got home, "Pat the Bunny" was shown in their email advertising their sale. I don't like buying kid books on line because I want to read them first, so I like to shop at stores. I guess I'll go read the book and Barnes & Noble and then order from Amazon read more

Years ago, Barnes and Noble was a good line of bookstores. Now, they carry mostly crap. They have very few technical/historical/information type books compared to the myriad of celebrity biographies/fad diets/pretty picture books. Try finding anything on firearms, they have very few, and they get hidden on bottom shelves. Military history? Shelved with the gay and lesbian studies books of which outnumber them at least two to one. Automotive and aviation? Hidden in a corner. The only time I go there any more is when I get a gift card, and even then I have difficulty finding anything worth buying. read more
