I am a newbie at shopping at a fabric store so it was a bit overwhelming and I couldn't find any store help other than the lady handling the long line at the cutting table. I finally found 2 fabrics that would work for my camper renovation project and I headed to the cutting table to take a number and wait my turn. The lady at the cutting table had help now but this lady wasn't nearly as pleasant as the first cutter. Anyway I finally had my fabric cut and headed to the checkout where I encountered the lady who obviously hates being there. The employee at checkout didn't smile, acknowledge customers or exchange any pleasantries. Other than the poor service ( which is a biggie ) I liked the quality of the fabric I purchased and the prices were good. I can't foresee anymore fabric shopping in my future but if there is I will go to the Boulder store to see if there is more staff to help me and if they are more pleasant.

Here's what happened: Michaels store - 16531 N Washington St. Thornton, CO 80023 Employee Name: Jacob Date: Saturday, May 31, 2025 around 8pm. My friend and I, were shopping last minute for our friend's birthday presents. From the moment we walked in the store, the employee Jacob was following us around like crazy. In the beginning, He came up to us and told us that the Dicks store next to them had gotten robbed so the police are next door and that they will be locking the doors to Michaels just so we know, but we can still get out after we check out. I didn't think much of it and kept shopping. This employee continued to pass me back and forth when I was in every aisle. My friend had her service animal with her and went outside to wait for me until I was ready to check out. Then Jacob came up to me and said that the police wanted to talk with my friend and I, because they saw something on the camera and some items have went missing. So I started walking towards the front of the store because I knew I had not stolen anything or had my friend. Then Jacob, tells me that the police were outside with my friend and I had to go outside to talk to them. He then proceeds to grab my shopping cart away from me. I was angry at this point because I knew he wasn't being honest and just wanted to take my cart. When I walked out of the store, he slammed the sliding door shut and locks it, laughing with another employee. Both employees stand at the door and kept it locked so we could not re enter the store. There were no police outside and the Dicks never got robbed either. It was really weird of this employee to say all this to me and my friend. We weren't trying to steal anything, we didn't look like we stealing anything but we were profiled from the moment we walked into the store. I was unable to purchase anything for my friend's bday which was that same day, so that was ruined for me. I was so embarrassed because other customers in the store saw this and so I was made to look like a thief. This was such a degrading experience for me and I never want to shop at Michaels ever again. I know theft is a big thing but how I was treated for no reason was so uncalled for. Jacob is very racist and I think he doesn't represent the Michaels brand well at all.
