Reposting my original review since they deleted it... Visited the store on 6-5-20 with my sister to pick up birthday party decorations. While shopping the asst manager an overweight caucasian woman (I believe her name was Tanya) stayed in the isle we were in the entire time with an empty cart pretending to be arranging things. We picked up what we needed and my sister went to the bathroom. As I waited with our items for her to come out I noticed the same woman standing near us AGAIN with an empty cart watching us. We then went to the floral section to see if we wanted to buy flowers for our luau party and noticed her again with the same empty cart watching us. Will not be returning due to racial profiling. And will be sending a letter to corporate!!!! read more

I applaud Hobby Lobby for supporting the LGBTQ+ community by hiring so many employees from this community, but not all customer want to hit on by these women. During my last visit, two different women called me honey and one called me sweetheart. Please teach your employees how to respect customers. read more

Hobby Lobby has very nice items but they do lack diversity. I have noticed that there has been a decline year after year. Dear Buyer, if you are sold out by October of African American items, you did not buy enough for "We The People". In 2023, it should not be difficult to find a decent diverse selection of Nutcrackers or other Christmas items for our homes. My question for the Buyers & the Executive's at Hobby Lobby would be how would they feel if they went to the store, and everything looked the opposite of them and their families. They need to take a page out of JC Penny, Michael's, Kirkland's & especially Target's book. Even Marshall's & TJ Maxx have a much better selection of ethnic diverse merchandise. Totally impressed! A great store loaded with clever and ingenious items that are treasures to behold. This store is well stocked and it's a delight to shop here. There is plenty of floor help that go out of their way to help you find what you're looking for. I encourage everybody to stop in and roam the aisles and take on these outstanding items. Seasonal gifts, decorative crafts, candles, decor, fabric, patriotic themes as well as inspirational items. I'm so proud of a store that doesn't try to conceal their Christian values as this company sets a good example for others to follow. It's a refreshing return to our faith. Great selection of photographs, faux floral, and the odds & ends to arts and crafts. The best part about shopping here is waiting until things are 1/2 price or 70% off! The layout is clean and concise. I rarely stand in long lines, which is great. I wouldn't purchase anything full priced here, because its almost always guaranteed to be deeply discounted at some point (which would make me very cranky!) Things perhaps to not buy here: Soap base and candle wax base, you really don't get enough for the price. I'd like to see Hobby Lobby increase their products...maybe compete a little more with Pier 1. Also, this place is closed on Sundays. That's a bummer, but it is what it is! read more

I was standing in line which is the return line. They were still busy that another cashier came up and opened right next to lane 1. The lady that was 2 people in front of me had a return. The cashier told her since she was was next in line she could come over. Bad idea. Not only did she take cuts in front of me, the cashier didn't know how to do returns. Needless to say we had words. She had no business coming over to the other lane with a return and I told her that. Two times she called me a fool and ignorant. Not one time did the cashier or the manager speak up, asking the customer to stop calling me names. The people that were behind me got waited on before me in lane 1 while the customer tied up lane 2 with her return since the cashier didn't know what to do with a return. When it was finally my turn, I tossed my 2 wooden pumpkins on the counter and had a fit. I told her that 2 times that I didn't feel good and I needed to leave. Both times she replied that she didn't care. I checked my blood sugar and sure enough, it was dropping. I needed to leave. She wouldn't shut up and wait on me. She refused to wait on me and the manager had to. I picked up my items and turned to see a male employee watching me. Really? Yes I did raise my voice. I was upset and I didn't feel good and I told that to the cashier. So now they felt like they had the right to intimidate me with a male employee. That's the final straw. I will now take my business to JoAnn's and Michael's where they have 1 LANE TO CHECKOUT. I will be contacting corporate office. Shame on the cashier and the manager read more

Wait for their 1/2 price sales, and you can find incredible deals on really unique items here. Mirrors, framed art, picture frames, furniture, pillows, and cool trinkets GALORE. They have everything to decorate your entire house in many different styles. We also picked up many high-quality silks here when I got married. Regular prices are just a little high, but just be patient, because practically everything in the store will be 1/2 price at some point. I shopped here around the holidays and filled my cart equally with gifts and fun stuff for me... since it's 1/2 price, that means I can buy more :) read more

Called about the return policy with no receipt so I didn't have to drive to Merrillville for nothing. I was told I could return without a receipt only to get there and given the rest of the policy.....if they can't find it on the card you paid with, you only get half and only in store credit. I don't shop here enough for that to have been worth my trip. Please give all the details! read more

The sales here are pretty good and the picture frames are always half off. The other frames in the back for art seem to go on sale every other weekend. They have a good selection of art supplies which I use frequently. The jewelry section is good and there are great sales in this area. They have an app too where you can get coupons! The only issue I had once was that I took a frame off the wall and had the framing girl cut a mat and put my picture together. I went to use my coupon (not on the labor but just the frame) and I got into an argument with the cashier. She told me that they cannot give a discount on an item that is put together. I just wanted a discount from the frame I pulled off the wall. She said they were told not to do that. So I told her I do it all the time and she said kind snotty "well we are NOT supposed to do that!!" So I explained it to her differently. - So what you are saying is that I need to pick out a frame, then march my butt up here and pay for it with my coupon, then go back and have them cut a mat and put it together?!?!! I also showed her the coupon and no where on there did it say that the hanging frames in the back are excluded! I asked for a manager and then she told me she was sorry and that it wasn't a problem to give me the discount. My guess is that she's had problems before and didn't want to call the manager over. read more

I went in looking for triple thick but they were out of stock. They informed me they didn't know when it will be back. I was a little bummed but the Cashier Keith C was amazing. I was greeted with a warm and friendly smile. He was very efficient at his job and very informative about the different areas of the store. I love the store and the sales they have. I don't know if this guy is the manager or assistant but he was very, very rude. I understand that this is a busy time of the year, Christmas, but customer service should be a number one priority. I was looking for a specific item and had looked around for it on my own. I saw him walking by and asked him did they have it and he gave me an aggravated look because I had stopped him. He then pretty much yelled that he had been moving things all day and he didn't see that item in the store. I could tell he was bothered by me interrupting him and motioned for him to go on and do what he was doing. I left my basket of items and left the store and went to Michael's where I found everything I needed. read more

So this is my most favorite store ever. What I mean by that is hobby lobby as a chain, not the Merrillville store. The customer service from the employees is always poor. I have never walked out of there happy and satisfied with the treatment of the associates there. If they come across you in an aisle, they put their heads down, if they are coming down your aisle they expect you to move out of their way. I can say the same for the management team as well, the woman and the man. I was shopping and they were stocking shelves and while near them I was never greeted Or asked if I needed help. They ALWAYS act like you are a bother when you are asking where something is. The girls with the brown hair that always stands at the front of the store is no help at all. She never smiles at customers or says thank you. They do not appreciate the business. I wish I could find an alternative place to find my decor needs. They are terrible! #zerostars read more
