I'm so late to discovering how amazing Hobby Lobby is as an adult because I only used to go whenever I had a big school project when I was in grade school. This place is fantastic - especially during the holidays! I will say, prices can feel a bit steep but they have really great sales every month that make purchases feel justified and worth it! They also have so many fun crafts for littles which makes this location even more convenient for me whenever I need some last minute entertainment or hands-on fun for my daughter as it is just around the corner. It's a large store, and you can definitely find yourself spending an hour or more in here just combing through the aisles (or maybe that's just me). I was there and my dad bought me a tree during the 70% sale because I just got marred and can use it next year it's the last thing he bought me and he passed away that night and we don't have insurance so I had to take back the tree and I saw a lady that lives in my neighborhood and she knew what happened and offered to help me with the return and buy it herself the cashier said it was ok as long as we were not related but then tells my neighbor she can not do that again and tells other employees that I returned a tree and my neighbor rebought it . I called in advance looking for a particular console table that was not in stock any longer at my local Hobby Lobby. I called and was assured by someone in their furniture department that they had two (2) in stock were putting one aside for me. Needless to say, this Hobby Lobby is out of the way and when my husband arrived only a few hours later, no tables were to be found! No apologies given and the manager seem frustrated he was even asking to purchase a product from them. I would not recommend this Hobby Lobby location! Get with the times! I've been to this Hobby Lobby multiple times over the last year. While my favorite feature about Hobby Lobby is their holiday clearance I've always liked supporting a Christian company. This store is well organized and has a great selection. The clearance areas are easy to find. But...I strongly believe in customer service and treating people kindly. We all have bad days but you have a responsibility to do your job. If you apply for a customer service role you should consistently meet the expectations of being kind and approachable at the least. However....this past week I felt like the Devil was my cashier. I have never heard an employee in a customer centered role speak to a customer the way this particular (who I won't name) did. I was appalled. This woman is someone's daughter, wife, mother, aunt, sister...she's a human being! She is a customer! And she was so kind and patient and most of all forgiving as I would not have been so polite. The young man stated, "Did you find what you were looking for?" The lady responded, "Oh no. I'm making a return, but thank you." (SIDE NOTE-SHE wasn't aware he was speaking to me because 1. I wasn't at the register yet. 2. He didn't make eye contact with either of us so who actually does know who he is speaking to.) His response (I kid you not!) "I'm not talking to you." She smiled and said that she wasn't aware and apologized. She then proceeded to attempt to make small talk and he repeatedly said rude, short responses. Then he told her "I'm just trying to log in. I'm with a customer." - insert eye roll from him. At this point it is obvious he is handling my transaction. Still, this lady said Sorry and told him happy thanksgiving. My heart broke. He scolded her. He belittled her. He was so unbelievably rude, to her and me. If I had the balls I would have cancelled my transaction and left. I love Hobby Lobby. I love their clearance and I always find some little trinket or craft to work on. But being treated poorly is unacceptable. read more

Customer service at this hobby lobby is not good. I spend a lot of money here and make many returns. I understand the policy and most of the time have my receipt. They have had to look up my purchase a few times which pulls up an electronic copy of my receipt. The lady that was helping me on 11/12 register 1 was horrible! She one looked miserable. THOSE MARK-UPS ARE BANANAS!! Make no mistake, I love Hobby Lobby! However, I am a discerning shopper and I prefer not to pay anymore than I need to and I need to get exactly what I pay for and no less. Here is what you need to know: Hobby Lobby has tremendous mark-ups on their products, especially holiday decor. So you must be aware of this when you are shopping. You must ignore the 60% off signs because when the price is increased by 200%, that discount means absolutely nothing! Please take time to examine all items carefully. When I recently visited, they had a huge decorated garland for $136. Yes, it was 60% off but still over-priced because it was made with very cheap and basic materials. If you want to spend that money and get a quality product, you really need to consider one of the independently owned home decor stores where you can actually justify the price. Consider that your favorite decorations are going to be used year after year and you want them to last so make sure that they are a superior quality. Now, I tend to spend less on what I call "fillers". Fillers are what I use on the bottom of the basket or in a secondary role. They would never take center stage, so I am going to spend less on them. I have watched their prices climb consistently over the last few years and I am just over the excess. While I previously purchased everything from furniture to metal art, home decor and garden accents, I now keep my purchases very simple because I just prefer not to be gouged. As I was exiting the store (after purchasing nothing), I noticed that they had a large easel now on clearance. Their regular price for one was more than I paid for two large metal, adjustable easels that I use for displaying special art and mirrors. No thanks! I will always use Hobby Lobby for all of my framing needs and for their beautiful greeting cards. However, for general decor and holiday accents, I have to consider other options. Hobby Lobby, I am on to you! Hobby Lobby recently financed a new five-story Museum of the Bible in one of the most expensive cities in the US, Washington, DC. I went in to return a chain that broke the second after I opened it and the cashier was very rude. She acted as if I was a large inconvenience while the store wasn't even busy and there was no one behind me. She did not make me feel welcome at all and I already didn't support Hobby Lobby to begin with because of their beliefs as a company. read more

Hobby lobby is a great place to get decor ideas for your home, to get crafty, and to spend money on things that you may not need. It definitely can cause impulsive buying during this season with all their holiday decorations abounding. It's like going to Target. You may have needed one thing but walked out with 10 items. But the good news here is that lots of things are marked on sale and there is also a coupon you can get online to save 40% on a full price item. So they definitely help at least your mind feel like you're saving. The store is a bit overwhelming because there are so many arts and crafts along with their home decor and then their holiday section, their fabrics. It seems to be never ending. It's crazy busy right now so expect long lines. I bought some garland for my stairs and I may have overbought, but I knew I didn't really want to have to return anytime soon if not necessary with the crowds. I'm really more of an online shopper for most everything. So when I go into stores with tons of people, it kind of overwhelms me. I (HEART) Hobby Lobby. I only wish I had the time to do all the arts and crafts available at this mega store. They have everything for the average craft (paint, yarn, thread) to the unordinary (wood burning, hat/sandal decorating and candle making). HL also has the market corned on seasonal decor. Every week about a quarter of the store is on sale, usually 50% off. The frame shop, also frequently on sale, just can't be beat for the price. HL is closed on Sunday for Jesus. But they are so superior to other arts and crafts stores (read: Michael's) that I forgive them. read more

Once upon a time, during the summers of 1959 and 1960, I bicycled from my parents' home in Chamblee 3 miles to Oglethorpe and the end of the Atlanta Transit Authority northeast line. I would then hop on a trolley and ride down to the Fine Museum for art lessons. Two hours later, I was homeward bound once again. I have dabbled in oil paints, watercolors, charcoals, and acrylics on and off ever since. Three months ago, my wife Ann expressed a desire to restart her art muse. Our church, Faith Life Fellowship, has an art class each Tuesday at 1:00 to 5:00 for free, taught by a retired art teacher. After we made sure she would like it during the two introduction classes, we went to find acrylic paints, brushes, canvases, and other goodies. We found the bulk of what we needed at Hobby Lobby at really good prices. Just browsing around, I can see that it would be very easy to go into creative overload in this store. With all of the very unique and interesting items and supplies, I could easily spend all my money and become a 'starving artist'. read more
