The staff are outstandingly friendly and helpful. The facility is clean and the shelves are nicely spaced to help you locate what you need. Today I was looking for small parts to repair Clock and found just what I needed in their Hobby department. While browsing, I found kitchen items that I needed to replace - choosing silicon here over the plastics that I wanted to toss out. My rant. They have basically discontinued carrying professional art supplies and instead carry their inhouse brands with are inferior to higher quality paints, brushes etc. Prices can be a bit extreme at times without a coupon, also. My main gripe with Hobby Lobby and Michaels is that they come into towns like Athens and, basically, due to pricing, put smaller art supply stores that do carry quality supplies out of business. I now drive over an hour to get the good stuff or order online, which sucks when I need something in the middle of a project or actually just want to shop for supplies like brushes and see them before buying. I wish stores like Hobby Lobby and Michaels actually cared about supplying quality supplies to support the creative community. Old-school art supply stores are much better in that regard. I'm sure there is a place for box stores that sell stuff like both of those do, but for professional artists and serious craftsmen, it's made shopping locally very difficult. If they at least carried top-quality paints, brushes, canvases, papers, etc, it would take the sting out of having to shop there. Their customer service is the worst. My daughter left her Debi card at the store. After speaking with the mgr they said I could pick it up with proper id and the last 4 of the card. After going through a long waiting period I was told I couldn't get it even though I had her id with the same last name and address. Being 12 hours from home is never easy for anyone. When it's your first time being away from your family this is even more true. When I needed some supplies for my crafting, I looked at the places in the area and quickly recognized Hobby Lobby, a shop that I had been to many times up in Ohio. However, when I looked at the one review on yelp it said that they had horrible customer service, so I was disappointed and afraid that this place would not be the same as the beloved shop I knew up north. But, I still need those crafting supplies so I took my chances and went there anyways. I was delighted to find that the review was completely inaccurate. The place is spacious, clean, and had everything I could possibly need for any craft. The workers were friendly and very helpful when I asked where things were. When I checked out, the line moved very quickly and the worker did everything they could to make sure the coupons and the sales got me the best possible price. The other reviewer has only been here once from the sound of the review and is trying to base her entire opinion of the store off of one thing that she made a mistake when buying and had a little trouble returning. I understand frustration, but the problem is she may have run into the one worker that didn't know how to return it or something like that. It does not make the entire store horrible as she implies at her review. Every time I've been there there have been at least three lines open. I recently took a $45 canvas piece of art to be stretched and able to be hung. They charged $55 which was a bit high. When I got home I noticed they stapled all 4 sides of the canvas and it looks terrible! I have no idea why they would have done this but they have ruined this piece! I would definitely not recommend their frame department. read more

I have been shopping at this Hobby lobby for years. Over the last 10 months my experiences here have driven to become a customer of Micheals. The management here specifically Arturo have surprised me. I have shopped at HL since I have been old enough to drive myself to the store. I had always had great experiences. If something was damaged they would discount it and offered a discount for military members. Other HLs offer military discount on top of their everyday sales and prices. This manager in particular has been rude on multiple occasions to the point even the staff apologize for his actions and people behind me in line commenting on his attitude and behavior. I personally have worked in customer service and know that it gets stressful but you should never take your attitude into work much less treat your customers badly. I will not be back to this Hobby Lobby. I will go to micheals or drive to Hobby Lobby in Lawrencville before I shop here ever again. You can thank your rude manager Arturo. Today's experience- I walked in and asked if a particular frame was on sale. The associate assured me it was. I have a bad back and wanted to make sure before I carried the big frame to the front of the store. I grabbed a few other items and the frame and headed to the front of the store. I stood in line my frame rang up 50% off and one of my other items that was also on sale didn't ring up on sale. When I asked the associate if it was on sale she turned to her manager Arturo and he said yes it was but my frame wasn't. Well that was weird because it rang up on sale and then he continued to argue that the frames are on sale but not that one in particular. The associate I spoke to first said it was but he was so rude about it I just left. I didn't purchase anything else because he was so just rude and didn't care that they were going against a sale they advertised online and in store. My biggest frustration was the way I was treated by this manager. Who is the example of how the associates should treat their customers. The poor cashier apologized on behalf of the manager and the lay behind me also purchasing the same item was upset as well. read more

Front end manager Julie and clerk Rebecca were such a help to me this past weekend when I was in a rush to find lights to help decorate for a family wedding. I called about the lights, and by the time I got to the store, they had several options for me. Rebecca rushed to get the quantity and batteries I needed and quickly got me checked out so that I could be on my way to the wedding venue. I bought one wreath form at Hobby Lobby, and got home to find it was the wrong size. I have tried to return it 3 times now, and walked in the front door to find I would be at the least, the 5th person in line, and at the most the 7th person in line. They only have one register set up for returns. On one visit there were two cashiers with no one in line, but " sorry we can't take returns." So they stood there..... And watched as we all were waiting in line. I mentioned this to a group of friend, and they all had the same experience. One even refuses to shop there because of it. The last two times I have been here have been horrible. I'm not the type to get my feelings hurt and I'm not an uptight, be mean to the employees kind of person. Every time I ask for help, I get an ignored, no eye contact, "you can ask someone else", a pointing-no-talking reply, and sometimes even an eye roll. I'm not going to go into detail with a long story, but today, I bursted out crying in the middle of the store, because that's how mean and belittling two employees were to me, all in front of my one year old.
