Use to be Home Depot had incredible customer service. Well no more waited 10 minutes for help then dropped everything and left for Lowe's.

MASKLESS EMPLOYEES AND CUSTOMERS This Home Depot overall is a mixed bag. Some employees are fantastic (shoutout to Tyler!), whereas others are rude or inconsiderate. What I find most disappointing is that this store not only ignores unmasked customers, they also ***do not enforce mask wearing for their employees.*** And often the employees do not maintain six feet of distance from customers, either. I asked an employee to maintain distance she just rolled her eyes, and *did not* step six feet away. It should not be that difficult for employees to lead by example, and keep customers safe. Oconee County has some of the highest numbers of COVID cases... 11th in Georgia. As of the writing of this review, there are fewer than TWO ICU beds available in the area. Retailers like Home Depot need to STEP UP and protect their customers. Just as we have "no shirt no shoes, no service," we should have "no mask, no service." read more

I just had a horrible experience with the Athens GA Home Depot appliance delivery and set up service and also with their customer service. They offer free deliveries​ and installation​ of major appliances, and I guess you get what you pay for! I bought a new washer, dryer, fridge, ​and range for the home I was just moving into and the people they sent were the ​most unprofessional I have ever seen. They had no idea how to hook up the drain to the washer because it was slightly different due to being in the basement and so I had to get a plumber to do that (at my expense). They didn't know how to reverse the dryer door so it opened toward the washer making it very awkward to use. They almost broke the glass top slide in convection range shoving it in and out, did not level it, and in fact, knocked off a leveling foot, which is still off. ​ The doors on the fridge are uneven and there is a tool they were supposed to use to fix it, because it doesn't work right uneven, but they didn't do so. There was no water access and so I had to get a plumber in later for that, but they inadvertently​ took the hose kit I had bought for it, so I had to get a new one. Basically, they just roughly threw the appliances in the general direction of where they go and fled the scene. When I called up and complained, the lady sent a guy out to fix stuff but when he got here he said he couldn't do the door for the dryer as it required unscrewing more stuff than he was authorized to do...SERIOUSLY! He said that! And he wouldn't adjust the uneven fridge doors or level the range because he said, "I was only sent out to do the dryer" (which he didn't do). So it looks to me as if they are hiring people who have very minimal skills to do these installations, possibly to save money. I think I would have been better off paying a bit more for the appliances and getting them installed by someone who knew what the hell they were doing. read more

I love it here. One of the best Home Depot I have been to. I'm new to Athens and I've made lots of trips here one trip a day for the first year. The staff is very helpful and the store is clean. I like the parking situation here too. It's not a question of life or death to get in or out of the lot. I use the entrance at the end of Ocone Connector St. and I never feel rushed getting in or out. As for comparing to the competition, Lowe's, I'd always have to choose Home Depot. I was contractor for years and I just can't shop at Lowe's, it feels too much like a Macy's or Walmart to me. But that's just me, and I know that. read more

These 5 stars are for Tristan, who works at the pro large volume pick up order at the back. In the middle of a pandemic, in the late afternoon, he was courteous, full of energy, and creative in helping us load a lot of heavy items on a compact truck. It was already 6:15, 15 minutes last closing time, and he went the extra mile for us in making sure our load was good. On Monday April 3rd my husband and I went to The Home Depot, Athens, GA to inquire about purchasing custom made window blinds. We spent several minutes looking around at their display. With no associate in sight we went to another department asking if they could find someone to help. An associate was called - we waited and waited and waited. Once again we asked if someone could be contacted to help us. Finally, several minutes later help arrived!!! After discussing what we were looking for with the associate we left with a color/swatch book. We returned to The Home Depot this afternoon April 6th to place our order for custom window blinds. We asked for the associate who assisted us on Monday only to find out she was not there. We were told there were two people in the carpet department who could help us . We went to that department to find one person (Brian) sitting at the desk. We told him that we were there to order several blinds. He asked what color we wanted. Hello - why ask about color when we hadn't even discussed styles, and we were still in the carpet department!!! This guy made no attempt to get up off his butt to accompany us to the Home Decor Department. He spoke to us as if we were wasting his time. Since when does ordering several hundred dollars of window treatments a waste of anyone's time? We put the book on the desk and left in disgust. Moral of the story. Never go to a big box store for a specialty item. read more
