I pass by Ho Ja everyday and as its new to the neighborhood I was really wanting to go. I ran by recently while they were passing out samples and the chicken was SO good. I had a slightly different experience when I went for dinner. First off, I should have gotten the chicken. I instead opted for something more authentic Asian and got a beef roll which while was OK, I didn't find it had much flavour. The Ho Ja sauce definitely helped. It came with a pickled salad which was basically pickled broccoli and carrot that had just about turned to mush. With the beef roll I also had a Taiwanese beer, good price and cold. The interior is nice, very clean, wood benches and casual dining area and the staff was very friendly. I had very high hopes but was left still wanting. I will probably be back but to go for the chicken which I had the sample of and maybe for some karaoke downstairs.

How have I not reviewed this place before??? Lovely yummy Taiwanese Food. The chicken popcorn is to die for. We ended up ordering 4 plates of those between 3 of us. 3 of them were ordered, after we had ordered the whole meal & tasted the popcorn chicken! Light, soothing, yet nourishing soups. We made a meal of the soups, appetisers and specials. They have sauces on the side depending on your heat tolerance. We chose the spiciest version & were very happy with it. Some of the home made dumplings had thicker skins, but the fried dumplings were thinner skinned. The thicker ones, weren't pasty, they were just slightly thicker than normal. The beef rolls were good too. There are a couple of Taiwanese drinks, that are quite interesting. The interiors seem a bit sparse and industrial, but the service is warm & helpful. I'll stop by anytime for that popcorn chicken.

A really cute, friendly, delicious neighborhood eatery serving authentic Taiwanese dishes (street food). Small menu but all great! Love the ambiance and wooden tables there.

It's clean environment and good atmosphere. You can try the Taiwanese beef noodles and chicken popcorn, there is not a drop of water in milk sago and taro! They also sell Taiwan Beer, Taiwanese root bear with Apple cider. The price is cheap, a Bento around £6、beef noodles around £7. By the way there is Karaoke in downstairs, can have a party there.

I found that the restaurant runs expensive and didn't live up to my expectations fully as the dishes were inconsistent and I found service to be chaotic -- particularly, when the staff spilled the cucumber dressing and almost spilled onto me and my friend. Pork Belly Bao - Classic comfort pork bun that has all the right textures from the soft pillowy bun to the melt in your mouth pork belly to the crisp pickles to the crunchy crumble of peanut. Marinated Cucumbers - Intriguing season of cucumber that offers a flavorfully spiced palette. However, I found some of the dish to be bitter as if the chili crunch was burned when made. Wagyu Ikura Rice Bowl - Their special rice bowl that has roasted beef topped with ikura. I particularly like the horseradish mayo it came with to give the beef a creamy balance with the rice. However, I found the beef to be unevenly cooked w.r.t. the bowl and the ikura to be disproportionate to the beef. However, Bian Dang's gua bao should definitely be on your shortlist when you're visiting Camden Town! I had two small Taiwanese steamed buns for seven pounds, one with pork belly and one with chicken. The size was just about right so afterwards you can still try something else from a different market stall, which for me is a big plus. Especially, since both buns were very, very good. The chicken was crispy outside and juicy inside and a great experience. But the one with pork belly... it was divine. The different flavours and textures with the pickles and powdered peanut was just perfect. And for that I can only give 5 stars!

I just wish the prices were a little more affordable (I paid 4 pounds for one bun) so that I could eat more. Definitely a must try if you're in the Camden Market area!

Their flavors for the most part were right, portions are small, and prices are high which contrasts for its norm, since this is street food in Singapore which would cost 3-6$ a plate. Would recommend a more Peranakan decor to make this place feel like Bugis in Singapore. Hainanese chicken rice- good chicken, soup was way too salty that it was nota drinkable at all. Rice was right flavor but wrong texture. Maybe the certain rice can't be found in UK. Seafood Chow fun- I was actually impressed with the chow fun part that charred part and the oily noodles that require high heat and high oil to make it that texture. this dish was good. Would highly recommend it. Chinese leaf- just dressed up Napa cabbage but well done.
