"They come runnin' just as fast as they can, 'cause every girl crazy 'bout a sharp-dressed man." ZZ…read moreTop One day while I was negotiating a treacherous snow barrier between the street and the sidewalk outside of Heimie's Haberdashery, a most dashingly dressed employee rushed out to save the day, escorting me over the snow pile. I guess my questionable mountaineering skills must have made him nervous! Heimie's hero was just the Sherpa guide I needed for my mini-Everest expedition. I can't thank him enough for helping, especially since he wasn't even wearing any winter gear...just his fancy shmancy suit. Heimie's snowbank conqueror was so impeccably dressed that I'm sold on purchasing a bow tie here for my six-year-old nephew very soon. He will be going on his first official chaperoned ice cream date with a young lady determined to marry him in the future, and he specifically requested a bow tie for the event. Clearly there is a lot at stake for this very serious date, so he will need a dapper tie that is sure to impress! No pressure, Heimie's, no pressure.

Had my business trip unexpectedly extended so needed a few work items. This store is very close to…read morethe St Paul hotel so extremely convenient. Yes, it's a bit old school. You can get a straight razor shave or a traditional men's fedora. With a bit of notice, they can tailor clothes or fix a torn shirt/suit. I think they even sell cigars. I spent about 30 mins looking at shirts/pants/ties (!!!), got a few recommendations, and made my purchases. Heimie's has a good selection of high quality men's clothing at reasonable prices. The staff could not possibly have been nicer. It's unlikely I'll ever need to come back but I wouldn't hesitate to do so.

Um...WHOA?! I've…read moreheard about this store from friends before, but thought it was just a fancy menswear store. Well boy, was I wrong. I stopped in a few days before Christmas, and I actually had a few things yet I wanted to get my grandpa, so this worked out great. At the entrance - and throughout the store - I found free hot coffee, tea, refreshments, cookies, and treats. Maybe it's just a holiday thing but I loved the hospitality. The space is HUGE - so much more than clothes! I had no idea. They have: - books and coffee table books - a whole room dedicated to perfume/cologne and scents - a whole area for cocktail-related gifts - home decor, tableware, and interior decor items - kitschy smaller giftables that were organized by theme (work/office, hosting, etc.) - menswear and womenswear - jewelry - candles - and so much more! I genuinely believe you can walk in here and be sure to find something for anyone on your gifting list. The service was incredible: lots of welcomes and greetings, and staff there to help you if you need it. Oh, they even have a room you can reserve while shopping?! FANCY!

I am part of a large, semi-formal wedding in Atlanta. The function is laden with "pomp and…read morecircumstance" that might give me hives. However, a close friend is diving in for his third, and I applaud his happiness. I won't wear a tuxedo, but I needed to have a suit made that would make the bride and the 400 attendees comfortable. The bride already told me not to don a fedora or pink sneakers, although I wanted to. Todd Fliginger at Martin Patrick took me under his wing. Todd is amazingly kind, helpful, and knowledgeable. He sent swatches to Milwaukee before we moved to Minneapolis. Tailors were brought in, especially the master tailor Robert, not only to measure, but also to have me try on different designers' pieces to see what would fit well. I am a difficult fit, with a body more like a penguin than a human. That's what a custom tailor in NYC told me. However, I don't nosh on Krill. Todd and Robert took hours to get a correct fit and guaranteed that I would look good. Todd even saved me several hundred dollars off the original quote. ADDENDUM: My suit arrived, and it looked amazing. A few alterations are required to ensure a perfect fit, but that's it. I had a suit made on Savile Row in London that cost more than three times this suit's price, and it did not fit as well. This store should be on every list of Minneapolis's sightseeing highlights. It is akin to a design museum. Everything at Martin Patrick--furniture and furnishings--is for sale, and they're all amazing! Martin Patrick 3 is down-to-earth sophistication, with a NYC or Parisian vibe. Yet, the staff is Midwest empathetic. It is a Minneapolis treasure, as is Todd. I might not be looking forward to this wedding, but at least I know I will look my best.

Great price, quality products, solid fit and cut, fast turnaround, and customer service couldn't be beat. They also sell other men's apparel and accessories, all nice stuff at different price points. We've gotten polos, sports coats, socks and hats here also. It's a known fact that many professional athletes in the area (Timberwolves players, Vikings, Twins etc) go to Milbern's for their custom tailored suits. The store front looks unassuming on University Ave from the outside, but don't let that fool you. This family-owned small business is worth the visit! PS: They also throw a great 80th birthday party for the community!
