They always have current popular reads and they also have books that I have never heard of from smaller authors. If for some reason they don't have what you are looking for, they are happy to help you find it and order it for you to the store! My absolute favorite part of this book store is the clearance wall. As a book fanatic who LOVES buying book trophies and new reads (I also write reviews on goodreads and make video reviews on tiktok and booktok @pagingdr.z ; https://www.tiktok.com/@pagingdr.z) I usually tell myself I can only buy books from the clearance wall or clearance carts outside the store. There are so many awesome books there in all genres and for all ages which I enjoy and they are so reasonably priced despite prices going up recently. Books are typically around $2-5 which is an awesome deal! In addition to have awesome selections and staff, they also buy back books and have many book events!

When we arrived we didn't expect much - and were we surprised. This store really has the mystery genre down pat. They have new and used, and they have current titles, and all the oldies. Whatever you are looking for in mystery and thriller, we suspect you'll find it here. Hugo's and Edgar's share the same large storefront on this strip. One entrance gets you in both - Hugo's science fiction on your left as you enter and Edgar's mystery straight ahead of you. I was surprised to find scores of old and new titles here at Uncle Edgar's. Nice location, easy street parking, and free parking in the next door lot on Saturdays and Sundays, and of course a great selection of books. Try this place.

Half of the store is mystery/thriller books and the other half is science fiction. The selection was really good, and there were large sections of used books. The organization of the store was a little chaotic, as each corner of the store had differing genres, and it didn't seem to correlate to this half of the store is mystery and the other half is sci-fi. There were a lot of boxes of books on the floor, so it felt like the place you might want to spend an hour or more treasure hunting for your next great read. The vibe in the store,and how it was organized, is "choose your own adventure". For $3 you could signup for a 90 day membership that earns a 10% discount on purchases. The staff were welcoming and helpful. I believe there is only street parking.

This is a great place to go if you want to find unique items or books, but they do also have many main stream popular books too. The childrens section of the store is also really amazing and whoever designed it rocks! there are really awesome childrens books and a spot for kiddos to hangout and read. A friendly grey tabby (Simon) welcomed us at the door, followed shortly by the shop's owner. I love little shops like this where you have to dig a little to find treasures -- but I walked out with four books for $12, which was very reasonable. The atmosphere was cozy and welcoming, and I will definitely stop there again when I'm in Hastings.

He is knowledgeable and very helpful. If he doesn't have the book you are looking for, he will order it for you. It was so nice seeing a different kind of bookstore open up and I love the variety of items they have. The location works well for everything they have available. They display the items well in the space and offer books, reading accessories, related merch, page overlays, a large children's section with plenty of stuffed animals, Lego sets, and much much more. They even have a clearance section! All the employees I came across were super helpful and friendly too; great vibe. The only thing I was disappointed by was that they didn't have a free membership option. But it sounds like the price for signing up for the membership initially for the first year can change depending on your purchase total. I'm not sure if that's true or how it's calculated, but if you plan to visit a lot it may be something worthwhile for you to look into. Great variety with a clearance section? Just like other book stores it's organized by genre. They have a few seats scattered around the store (not much though). The few staff I encountered were really nice & helpful. When I got up to the counter there was a bit of a situation going on between the cashier & a customer but other staff & a manager came up to help resolve it. They do have a yearly membership you can subscribe to for $25/yr. BAM is a chain store from the south I believe.
