Good Things is a gem and always a must-stop for me when I'm bopping around White Bear Lake! Every time I pop in, I find something new--whether it's cookbooks, cards, puzzles, kitchen gadgets, jewelry, clothing....you name it. The selection here feels endless in the best way. Allow yourself some time because the store is pretty big. I especially love coming here when I need a gift or something Minnesota-based as they always have unique, MN-feeling items that hit the mark. It's the kind of boutique where you can happily wander and browse for A WHILE. I haven't had much interaction with staff beyond checkout, and I've noticed they don't typically come out onto the floor--at least not during my last couple of Thursday visits during Marketfest. That said, checkout has always been smooth. Highly recommend if you're in the area and love a good browse through a thoughtfully selected mix of finds! We stopped in to the Good Things store while visiting White Bear Lake on Monday morning. This is an amazing store! I would definitely call this a "must see" boutique. There are 3 parts to this store and you owe it to yourself to experience them all! I started in the style area, which is the clothing part of the store. This is an upscale women's apparel store, with habitat, Liverpool, Johnny Was, and many other upscale brands. All of it is beautifully curated and displayed. You will have fun browsing the racks. The sales associates were super helpful and knew exactly how to interact with people--making customers feel welcome, but not pressured to buy. Downstairs, there is an amazing sales area. Don't miss this gem! Bargains galore and beautiful things! I'm sure it changes regularly. Then stop at the cafe and have a coffee, pastry, or freshly baked cookie. All the treats look and smell delicious. The staff was very sweet and service was prompt. After that, continue shopping at the Good Things gift shop. This is a top notch gift shop the likes of which I rarely see. It is brimming with themed displays for almost every interest or occasion. If you can't find a gift here, you may never find it! This is a great gift shop to browse for specific Minnesota-esque items. Lots of fun cooking paraphernalia and great gift ideas. I've also seen their booth at the Minnesota state fair and they always have the cutest things. They'll be back this fall at the MSF. They also had a great selection of stud earrings. My first time to the good things cafe. I was greeted by a very nice employee cleaning the floor who quickly took my order for donuts and homemade croissants. Then it went downhill fast!! I told the grumpy bigger blond lady that her employee did a great job, negative response, no friendliness, nothing. I don't know why she's so miserable in life, but Good Things, cmon!!! I love this gift shop and it's always a go-to each holiday season and this is because you can find a gift for all here. And if you can't you haven't looked close enough! There is Christmastime goods like towels, candles puzzles, plates and ornaments. There is a section for garden, toys, candies, cooking stuff like gadgets, utensils and cookbooks. You can find things for entertaining, like fancy glasses and cheese plates. Things for the bathroom and quirky humor and for the bicycle, wine or sports enthusiast. Love it! Only downside at this time during a pandemic is they said on the door they limit capacity, but they don't there was well over 40 people in the store when I came. No one is "policing" so don't make that claim if no one is monitoring. read more

A great place to buy gifts, especially for yourself. They have the largest variety of the Thymes brand for cologne, lotions, etc. The holiday stuff is out and you will be lured for sure. I bought a Halloween kitchen towel. They have retro candy, but the fruit stripe bubblegum, the thrill is gone. Adorable baby clothes at outlandish prices as in any boutique, that you'll buy anyway. They have a whole piggy and pork section. The stand out was bacon flavored popcorn and I immediately think of Samuel, the baconator and pick one up. Most things are so kitschy, and I love them all. All I can think of is the Paul Revere and the Raiders song Good Thing, and it definitely applies. read more

Goodthings is essentially Patina but in the WBL. That being said, it's great. You can pretty much find a gift for anyone there without wasting a ton of time searching multiple stores. Definitely a good place to visit if you've got some gifts to purchase for a wide variety of women/children . . . even some men if they enjoy beer paraphernalia. read more

I've been going to Good Things religiously for years. Everything in the store is unique, but the store's style mainly caters to classy ladies who've got a few bucks to spend however they like. Each section of the boutique revolves around a certain part of your home- from Boss Lady and Miso Pretty bath products to trendy hand painted martini glasses to artsy stationary. The inventory is always changing but remains constant in that if you see something you like, you'll be able to pick it up again a few months later if need be. If I could afford it, I'd furnish my entire home with items from this store. The one thing I dislike about living in DC is that they don't have a Good Thing's! read more

Clutter and crazy, but they had what I needed! So, I needed to get a Christmas gift for a friend and was stumped on what to get. I received an email from a company with really cool reusable snack and sandwich bags. I checked the site and found out Goodthings carried these particular items. I called and they verified they were in stock. The sales associate was happy to check for me. A couple days later, I buzzed up there. The place was a holiday mad house! I asked the sales associate to point them out and I was in and out in a matter of minutes. I would have loved to stay and look a while, but on another day. The place is filled with really cool items, but it was also filled with kids running around and holiday shoppers. Sometimes I just don't have any patience, this was one instance. Great store! I was there for Christmas and found all sorts of wonderful gifts, along with things for myself. After happily browsing all the good things offered, I bought a card from their unique selection, and then left it while struggling with all the clothes Minnesotans have to wear in winter. (How do you manage?) When I phoned from back in sunny California, the salesperson insisted on mailing it to me at no charge. Love their web site too. read more

I am traveling from out of town and excited to explore. I was curious to see White Bear Lake and amazed at the quaintness of the downtown. I went into Goodthings 10 minutes before close. The shopkeeper says to me "not to rush you, but we close in 10 minutes." My thoughts of purchasing anything were gone in seconds. Not a welcoming place at all. The sister store good clothes did the same thing as soon as I walked in. I didn't even bother to look around. I hope the shopkeepers understand you shouldn't speak to customers that way. read more

I've been to the new clothing boutique also called Good Things several times. What is consistent is the lack of service. I was just there yesterday for nearly a half an hour. I found something, took it into the dressing room and tried it on, came out and looked in the mirror and was never approached by a sales person. This has been my experience multiple times while shopping in the store. There were four people working and only two customers in the store. Two of the sales people were bad mouthing another employee of the store loudly enough for customers to hear it. As much as I enjoy the selection of clothing, it's too frustrating to continue shopping at that store. The Good Things gift store, however, is a wonderful place to shop and the sales people are helpful and friendly. read more

Good Things has a very restrictive return policy, which is not communicated clearly, if at all at the time of purchase. I recently traveled to Arbor Lakes shopping center for the first time and bought a variety of gift and home decor items at Good Things, including a Christmas throw pillow. I was not informed of their return policy upon check out. When I got home the pillow I had purchased did not fit the space. It took me a little over three weeks to find the time to get back up to Arbor Lakes to return the pillow. At that time I was informed that they have a 14 day return policy and a no return policy on all Holiday items. When I pointed out that Arbor Lakes is a destination shopping local, difficult to return to if you do not live close, they were uninterested. As I had my receipt I then asked for store credit, again they were completely uninterested, my concerns were dismissed; I felt disregarded. The fact that Good Things is a local company makes this experience even more disappointing. I will stick with Patina. read more

The customer service in this store is horrible!!!! The sales women are condescending and rude! I went in with my 21 year daughter looking at the jewelry counter. The first sales woman came over and explained the meaning of the inspirational bracelets then stepped away. A few minutes later another sales woman (Jodi) came and stood behind the counter and just glared at us. She didn't say a word just stared at us as we were trying to pick out a bracelet. I finally said to her we want to look through these so we will let you know if we need help. She proceeded to glare at us to the point where we were very uncomfortable. I felt as though she thought we were going to steal something as she continued to stare at us and didn't move. I looked at my daughter and said "I think we should leave" and she agreed. I told Jodi that I felt very uncomfortable and felt as though she thought we were going to steal something. I also told her we would not be back, that they lost a customer and she just said "okay." I guess they don't care if they loose customers. I will never step foot in this store again and I am telling all my White Bear Lake friends to stay away so they we be losing more than just one customer. read more
