I had no frame of reference in finding a dentist, so I recalled the TV commercials I'd seen about Edgewater Dental Arts. Gave them a call, and went in. From the jump everyone was great. I told Doctor Cutting what I was trying to accomplish, and that I was concerned about cost. They did the full workup and treatment plan. Holy S*it. What was recommended was pricey. But it accurately reflected what was needed. Called my CFP, pulled some retirement funds, and took the plunge. I now have a full upper arch of crowns, and the first smile I've been proud of in 50 years. Dr Cutting, Brooke, Kim, Kelsey (sorry if I missed anyone) have made for an outstanding experience. I have had really traumatic experiences with dentists in the past, so the fact that I felt really safe in his hands meant so much to me. I'd also like to shout out his assistant, Savannah. She was warm and friendly. She instantly put me at ease. Even better, she was very swift and gentle throughout the imaging process. Another point worth mentioning, they were transparent about pricing from the beginning. I find many dental offices get a bit cagey when you ask what the cost is, but, if you're paying out of pocket that's obviously helpful to know! I really appreciate that they called and gave me an exact price upfront. Everything was done gently and expertly. Also, the office is really beautiful and I found the waiting room to be very cozy and refined. It provides a bit more for the eye than most other boring run-of-the-mill waiting rooms. After calling first thing this morning with an emergency regarding my husband, post root canal, we were told that not only were they closed on Fridays, but that both doctors were out of town-- there was no one on call to address an emergency! Long story short, he was able to be seen by his original endontist, as Kari was able to reach him before he left town. To start, EVERY TIME I went in, they recommend getting a night guard with long description why (EVERY TIME, even though I said no EACH TIME....same to my husband too. Dentists have never told either of us we had a problem before here). It got to the point where I would l walk in and say, "I don't want a night guard", before they would start talking. They recommended a filling on my 12-year-old daughter's Baby Tooth cavity (which was not in critical shape), the tooth fell out 2 weeks later (thank goodness I went with my gut). My friend who has NEVER had a cavity her whole life, had to get a filling at THIS office. They recommended my husband get a filling the next visit, (spoiler alert, our new dentist, didn't see a problem with that tooth.) Final straw, they recommended I get a crown on a tooth that was not hurting, and I could not see what they were talking about on the Xray, which would cost me over $500. Done! Found a new dentist. My new dentist DID NOT recommend a crown, they replaced the filling and I still have my $500. (FYI, new dentist does not recommend a night guard to either of us).
