Just thought I'd drop a note for the nice experience I had at HL Nails at Cheat Lake. Me and my 2 young daughters wanted a girls day in Morgantown and decided on getting mani/pedi's. Not knowing anything about this shop, I took a leap based on the reviews. We were 30 minutes late unfortunately and they still made time for us. The staff were all very nice - Kyle and Son serviced me and the girls and did a wonderful job. Son really took the time to take care of my past due toes. I asked for the collagen pedi so it came with a massage and some yummy lemon smelling gels of some sort. I do have to say it was pretty funny when Kyle said, "that smells good, son!" I didn't know the guy working on me had the name Son. lol The manicure felt rushed but Son's wife did a great job even though. I will definitely be going back. read more

One word Racist. I scheduled an appointment via phone . I arrived and the women looked at me with disgust. They started asking me the same question 21 times about having an appointment. I finally said if you don't have my appointment I will just leave. One of the women smiled at me with what I took as satisfaction of turning me away. This was my first time at this salon and I was very pleased! I did a walk-in because I wasn't in a rush and was still helped very quickly! I don't think I waited more than 10-15 minutes for service. I got a regular full set of acrylics and paid $55, not including tip. I am used to more hand care (lotion/soak/cuticle trimming etc...) beforehand but I'm not sure if that is a separate thing you have to ask for at this salon. I am so glad that I decided to make an appointment here. It was a great experience. Kyle was so friendly while making my appointment and even friendlier in person! He seemed to know every single clients name, I was blown away! They are taking Covid very seriously here. I had to sign a consent form before entering, have my temp taken, sanitize and wear a mask. Then had to wash my hands when I entered. I love this! Kyle was constantly disinfecting EVERYTHING and every other station was in use. It was really amazing to see how efficient they were while being so careful and clean. They have multiple types of pedicures, gel and dip nails, plus do nail design. I showed Kyle the color I wanted and he found a perfect match. Another gentlemen did my nails and he fixed the shaping job another salon butchered. He took his time and make my nails exactly what I wanted. A gel mani was only $35, amazing for the job they did! I'll definitely be back when in the Morgantown area. read more

I go to this salon about once every other month or so. I usually get either a manicure or pedicure (never both at once). I scheduled an appointment on my birthday to get both done. They had me sit in the pedicure chair first and while that was going on, a lady came over and stood by my chair and started doing my fingernails to save on time I suppose. I did not like this one bit. They used my lap as a place to put their gel setting lamp and got nail file dust all over my pants. I go to the salon to relax and this was NOT relaxing. The lady asked if I was alright and I explained that doing this at the same time was not relaxing and she just giggled and kept going. I probably will go back but only for one or the other. Went here for the first time in August, 2021, 2 days before my sister's wedding. I got a mani/pedi done in just about 1 hour which is awesome. The guy that did my pedi was a perfectionist, and did a flawless job. 0 complaints. He was going to do my manicure, until another lady (who did my friends pedicure) awkwardly swooped in and "stole me" because I was getting tips, and my friend who she had done the pedi for was not getting tips on her nails. Her shift was over before his, so she took it upon herself to "steal" the higher paying customer. Honestly, it was weird, but I didn't care that much. I acquired that information by just reading the room and listening to some side conversations (some not in English, so I'm not 100% clear on all that was said). I decided to write a view over a month later because I'm still upset with the blatantly obvious way the lady rushed through my manicure. I sat there silently infuriated about the fact that the lady that did my manicure first stole me and then immediately started slapping tips on my BARE FINGERNAILS, the way they were when I came in. Part of me was thinking, "if the guy that did my pedi was also doing my mani, he wouldn't be rushing like this." No filing, no buffing, she didn't push my cuticles back, NO CUTICLE TRIM (I have terrible hangnails). I could tell she was in a hurry. There was another bridal party scheduled to come in soon, BUT if I'm paying $160 for a mani/pedi, the job needs to be done right. Also, I asked for "round" and I got "pointy" (I don't know nail terminology ) I ended up filing the pointy ends down myself when I got home. Overall, the nail design was pretty and the quality was there. I just didn't feel important. It was more important to be ready to go for the incoming wedding party than to do the full job (the job that I paid for) on someone who was already in the chair. For this reason, I'm not going to go back. I didn't complain at the time and I still left a $30 tip. I don't complain. I've gotten haircuts that i HATE and don't complain, and I didn't hate my nails. I can say that I am pretty good when it comes to seeing the good and the bad in most situations. I just felt the need, over a month later, to make it clear that every customer is important. It's quality over quantity for me, and I'm sure I'm not the only one that walks through their doors that believes in that. read more

I saw several five stars and great comments. That was the reason I chose this nail salon. I'm from another state and occasionally get my nails done while I'm away from home. I had a manicure with dip powder. My thumb could have been better. It has a small flaw. I also expect lotion as part of the manicure. Especially in the wintertime because my hands were extremely dry and the skin around my nails were cracked. Limited work was done to remove dry skin. Only two figures were trimmed around. All in all I'm ok with the job. However, I will continue to explore another nail salon when I come back to Motown. read more

My friend and I stopped in without an appointment and were both seen for pedicures within 15 minutes. The technicians were very friendly, professional, and everything was clean. Very clean, fast and friendly! I had a polish change done on my toes. I requested a French tip they removed my old polish, filed my nails, & painted them. She even made sure that the size of the French tip matched on both feet! The part that stuck out most to me she threw away the file when she was done using it on me. The last time I went there I had an appt and I waited over an hour! So I got up was going to reschedule so they could take their time on my nails and not rush thru them...Kyle re-insured me they were ready for me so I sat down in a chair waited another 15 min for Kyle to do my nails in 15 mins then 3 days later they were chipped and two was broke. So I won't go back! I spent enough money on my nails that they should have lasted and stayed nice plus gave a tip! I would rather drive 10 min out of my way and go to suncrest nails!!! Well to start off when we arrived our appointments were it's 5 o'clock and there was 4 other people booked at the same time. Also we both chose the same pedicure which was the $47, And they ended up charging me $80 instead but didn't find out this until check out time and they decided to do more with mine then my friends but yet I was done 1st. The nail tech bugged me constantly pick a color pick a color picker color and when I kept explaining to them what I was looking for they could not understand a thing I was saying. The nail technician giving my girlfriend a pedi acted like she didn't wanna touch her and it just made the start of the evening unpleasurable. At that point they had to get the I'm guessing owner who was a lady who was the only one that spoke clear English to help both of us and that way it interrupted other clients she had whose nails she was doing because no 1 understood what we wanted. They charge outrageous prices for stuff with your nails and I felt that I was ripped off. I asked to have tips put back on my nails and filled in with gel Polish and a pedicure done and they charged me $152 that is absolutely ridiculous. The only reason I went to them was because due to coved 19 hour salons are all closed, so we drove over an hour to get there what a waste of time. Also my girlfriend and best friend she went along and wanted her French tips filled in and they were going to charge her 15 extra dollars just to put Polish on them so we both just had them filled in. The only good thing I will say that come out of the trip is that they used powder dip gel to fill in our nails instead of the standard brush fill in technique. First I'd like to start by saying I never went to this salon. I called to find out availability and pricing and asked about a website since I couldn't find one online. Kyle answered and told me to search Google and I could find the website. I searched Google and yelp for 10 minutes and still couldn't find a website so I called back and spoke to Kyle again. Then he told me they didn't have a website. When I asked about availability and pricing he told me a basic pedicure would cost $30. I didn't think that was a bad price so I asked what other types of pedicures they had available. He listed three other types of pedicures (some I didn't understand) so I inquired further about the types and cost. He then told me he was too busy to give me information (which he also said was "too hard to explain") and prices but if I wanted to come in he would give me a paper with the information. Really? No website and then tell your potential customer you're too busy to explain on the phone what's available! Absolutely terrible [almost] customer experience.
