I was worried about bringing my kids into a more "upscale" place. I wanted to like Rivage, but the service really overshadowed the meal…read more We had a reservation, but no one was at the host stand when we arrived. After finally finding someone, we still waited quite a while before being seated. We were initially put in a booth for five, and when the rest of our party arrived and asked to move to a table, it became a much bigger ordeal than it should have been...even though the restaurant was mostly empty with larger tables already set. We were even asked to carry our own waters and unused silverware to the new table. The service felt rushed and dismissive throughout the meal. Simple menu questions seemed to annoy our server, and she frequently interrupted our conversations with unsolicited comments. At one point I was looking at the weekly specials menu and she took it out of my hands to flip it over because I was looking at the wrong side. It came across as surprisingly rude. She also spilled water on our table and the floor, then laughed when I reached for a napkin to clean it up myself. The food was okay. My burger tasted good, but it wasn't cooked to the temperature I requested and came with tomato after I had asked for none. I also found the prices hard to justify, especially since the lunch menu had several items that weren't available to order at dinner. Overall, there were some good flavors, but between the service and the price, the experience didn't live up to expectations.

We got the Chislic, and the cheese plate. The cheese plate was pretty disappointing, the cheese looked like it had sat out all day. No major flavor profiles, a basket of basic crackers to go along with it and olives. For the cost of a cheese plate I expected to be relatively satisfied with it. No fruits, jams, breads, spreadables (1). The fluidity of the dish was very stale, as well as the freshness. The Chislic is some of the best that I've had, having travelled far and wide, I can say without a doubt this is so far my favorite out of 18 countries and hundreds of restaurants. Our waitress seemed incredibly green, didn't seem familiar with the menu, upon checkout, added an erroneous item to our check, which I would've missed had I not gone over it, overall, I was disappointed in the visit that I had at Parker's bistro. I had had high hopes for my first visit, and was hoping for this to be a new favorite restaurant downtown. Wonderful ambience, absolutely stunning Chislic, great drinks, and warm staff regardless.

Bartender outside behind bar I'd give a one star. Shocks me that some don't help themselves and provide great service and be upbeat. Oh well. I won't be back. And this is an experience you do not get when you go downtown Sioux Falls. There is where the best are employed. Don't bother with this place, and go downtown for the talent and great food.

I stopped in on a Thursday night for a quick bite after work and had the Fried Grilled Cheese which, while simple, might have been one of my favorite things I've had all year across the whole country. On Friday, I had to treat myself to the seasonal Pumpkin Spice Espresso Martini and I was genuinely blown away by the well-balanced flavors. (Huge snob for both real espresso and three beans always in an espresso martini and Jack Rose absolutely delivered.) Brie, Whitney, and Kate provided EXCELLENT and friendly service two nights in a row despite having a packed bar and restaurant on both a Thursday and Friday while managing the crowds from the local free concert across the road. As a side note, the presentation of The Monarch (pictured below) and pour size of their beer flights were absolutely impressive. Can't wait to come back!

I have to many good things to say about my experience here. I had an amazing time and meal there…read more We were the only ones, the owners, server, and chefs were all so sweet, accommodating, it was a homey feeling. The food... omg that burger I'm not even a huge burger fan but it was perfectly cooked, not greasy, flavorful but not to overpowering on any of the parts, the melty cheese, the crispy soft bun, the fried cream cheese triangles were crispy and flavorful on the outside, so creamy and yummy on the inside, all of it together was a little sweet, savory, PERFECT, the bacon on it was a little spicy and smoky, there was a creamy spicy sauce. The whole thing was perfectly balanced in every way, so yummy, I already miss eating it. The fries shocked me, I don't like sweet potato or waffle fries but there were savory, sweet, perfectly crispy. The onion rings we got for the table were pretty good for someone who doesn't like them, the ranch was not amazing or bad or mid, just pretty good. The straight fries were basic but not bad either. The boneless wings someone at my table got were basic, not bad but they are just boneless wings and I'm not big on teriyaki. They had free arcade games and local artists pieces to buy (I got a painting). Everything about the place was amazing, so homey, chill, amazing food, if you are traveling through this a must stop spot. They had options for the chef to pick your meal (that's what I did) and another option where you could buy the kitchen a beer for 6 bucks.
